I can’t believe you are still in Albania! I loved it there. I lived in Tirana and Sarande for a few months each. There are a few other eateries I would love for you to visit, try and report back on if they are still as great as I remember. Maybe I will trim the list a little and send it forward.. I think Sarande is slowing down already this year, it is very seasonal, but worth the trip just to go to Butrint. Early morning, mid week is amazing with the birds singing, the quiet paths and crisp fall air.. Best wishes. Thank you for refreshing the memories..
I'm from Tirana, I live here, I am watching your video, you are here for the first time? What are your impressions for Albania, what do you think? Do you like our food? Have a good time here
A lot more to Skanderbeg. He was forced to join Ottoman Army as a young man. Learned their methods then deserted to go home and unite the Albanians to fight off the Ottomans. The Ottoman Empire was held off for decades until he took ill and died. Like much of the Balkan Peninsula many Albanians converted.to Islam to get better treatment. But even among Muslim Albanians Skanderbeg is considered a national hero. They like to say what matters most is Albanianism. The Catholic Church credited him with saving Italy from being overrun.
Skanderbeg Square was also the location where the citizens in Tirana finally rose up and defeated the communist regime that held power for 50 plus years. It was not a huge square back then it was a center point for traffic circulation. Great food! Great people and a storied history.
Absolutely! Skanderbeg Square is such a significant historical site. It’s amazing to think about how much it has transformed over the years. The food and the friendly atmosphere really make it a special place to visit!
wow nice place 😊
