My Amazon Echo 8 gets Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, UA-cam, NBC & Food Network Kitchen. It's a great little Gadget (This is probably an update since this 2019 review).
im loving the echo show 8, picked up two for myself for living room and kitchen, and one for my mum. the sound is much better than the google nest hub and much prefer alexas routines to googles. wouldnt mind the home control menu to be a bit better but do appreciate that main menu for control, music, communication etc. google nest hub home control is amazing but missing a decent communication menu. Well recommend this device. Great video, really like your echo show 8 coverage.
Yes it is compatible with Spotify and Apple Music. In your Alexa app (from your phone) you have to go to settings then click on Music and Podcasts. You have to link your Spotify account with password etc…. Then you have to choose it as your Default Service. From now, each time you ask Alexa to play a song, or Playlist it will play from Spotify and will open Spotify app.It is not like the full app experience though. I hope it helps.
Does this need to be connected to a power source all the time? If no, that is great. If yes, can we use a powerbank instead, to make it portable? Thank you for the great video. Learnt something new and I subscribed.
Yes, it does need to be connected to a power source all the time (Even minor power fluctuations can cause the device to restart) Its's a shame that they did not introduce even a small battery for the echo show 8 yet. And no, unfortunately you cannot use a power bank too.
I have been reading complaints about device in that it times out after 3 minutes and reverts to home screen when you are trying to watch something on browser, BBC iPlayer for example. To me this is a deal breaker. I have also read that you CANNOT get Netflix on it. Also, why still no built in battery for some portability around the house? I still think Amazon are shortchanging their customers.
i believe if you use the firefox browser it wont timeout... so iplayer, and plex work !!! but you cannot get itv . com or channel 4 . com to play content as DRM setting isnt on :( and you cannot turn it on either as unable to get to any settings :(
@@SpaceStrike Yes I'm ok, are you? You are missing my point. I'm quite aware that similar devices have no built in battery but I think it's a good idea. You could take your Show into another room and continue doing what you were doing. It's probably why Amazon are updating all their fire devices to operate hands-free but obviously the speakers are not so good.
@@davidcollins3496 the fire 8 and above all now have "show mode" an they are portable :) But yes as you say the speakers are no where near as good, plus they are not able to be placed in a 'group/room' which have knock on restricted effect. Also as an update to my last msg, both the Silk and Firefox browsers are not time limiting now it seems. Plus the Silk one can now run itv . Com ok!! (I'm in the UK obviously)
Does it automatically show sky news? Sky news Australia is terrible, the thought of it showing me their news stories all the time is a definite no for me. If it can be configured to a different news outlet it could be good.
@@jeromehenryuk thanks, I searched for it after watching this video and found that it's not locked to sky. Considering that the clock on the 8 can't be customized in the same way I could more easily believe that other features were pointlessly limited as well.

No app here in the UK. We can watch UA-cam through the web browser. I have made.another video about that.
Also can enable - Alexa open stream player... choice of nasa, sky and lots more...
If you want to watch live TV in the UK just go to BBC iplayer in the browser and sign into your BBC account.

Couldn't you just log in to netflix using the browser
you can log in to Netflix with your username and password but you only can browse Netflix. To watch something the browser asks for the app.

You need to stop saying Alexa during these videos as it triggers those that have an Alexa ecosystem.

In the settings you can choose BbC for example but this is in the UK. I am not too sure which option you have in Australia.

Unfortunately once on Netflix with silk it is impossible to stream.

ECHO 8 SHOW: How to keep the screen on to what you are playing or watching, mine keeps going to the blank time screen within 1 minute?
Had the same concern, Amazon tipster said to keep Ambient clock on, this worked for me.
