3 things: 1. the creepy encounter in the night scared me quite a bit too. Glad that nothing happened to you. 2. I could throw myself away with laughter every time you and Mako "talk" to each other. 3. the sparkle in your eyes whenever you talk about sailing and the sea speaks volumes. Hope this enthusiasm stays with you (and us) for a long time.
Yeah.. that was a big scare Haha that part (mako and I) made me laugh a lot every time I watched it Aww I think it will definitely stay.. thank you❤️❤️
Hi Lauren, your videos are uplifting and make my day. Please take the boat in the night as a harbinger, you've never discussed it but please, please, please, have some type of equalizer on your boat. If you're gun averse it doesn't have to be a gun, they make tons of non-lethal personal defense devices, the most common is the taser, many people don't realize with the sophisticated ones you don't need to touch the intruder you simply point and shoot, which would be perfect if someone was trying to board. You are such a bright spot for your family, friends, and extended youtube family, please take the appropriate precautions to protect yourself and our favorite first mate Mako.
Looks like Mako got spoiled being on land; he will reacclimate soon and be back to his old self. Animals certainly have their own personality. Glad you are safe, and now that you have Starlink, it gives you access to make calls when you are out at sea. Stay safe!
Hey Lauren, I take my hat off to you. You're so brave and a gutsy girl sailing out all those nautical miles solo and nights as well. Inspirational - 10/10
That encounter sounded creepy. As a dad, that would be my biggest worry for my daughter if she was sailing as you do. It cracks me up when you and Mako talk, so funny in a very good way! May the waves and wind always be kind to you!
Thank you Lauren. Another great video. The way things are going here on land, you are probably much safer on your boat. Doesn't mean we don't worry. You are glad for our viewing, and we are very glad for you taking us on your journey. ❤🙏
I am a retired Air Force pilot with the call sign "Mako" so I am definitely going to be following your adventures. I've travelled the world with animals so using the doggie downers (vet script) and kitty candy (also vet script) made having animals in my life that much easier. Good to hear another "combat napper" spread the news of short but very good naps.
Hi Lauren. What can I say? These videos just keep getting better and better. . Thanks for sharing a look at your wonderful nomadic life sailing on the high seas, you gorgeous and multi-talented offgrid woman. ❤❤🌼🌼😊😊
Hey Lauren, I have to say that this episode ran me through the whole scale of emotions. The getting away for a while, and the night 🌙 sailing made me happy and comforted that you are a competent sailor. The mystory boat, well I'm not sure how to respond to that. My heart sunk thinking what you must have been going through. I don't really want to know what precautions you have on board, nor do I think you should let anyone but your closest confidants know, but I will sleep better knowing that you are prepared. When in Alaska, and Arizona, I was made aware that the jeep I was traveling in was quipped with a firearm incase unwanted persons approached too close. I never had to use it, and I pray that you will never find yourself in that type of situation ever again. Sorry if I got too real about that, but I do worry about single women having to defend themselves in this crazy world. All I can do is ask God to put His protection around you. 🙏 🙏 I didn't say too much about the quality of the video, because I have come to expect excellence, and you always deliver. Only one suggestion, don't be afraid to let your bg music build up a little before your talking clips, and tail out under the following talking clip. It will smooth out the transition better, but I'm being too picky. 😊😊😊 You are doing a wonderful job. Looking forward to your next adventure, with hopefully less drama for you. Until then, be happy, please be safe, and know your in my prayers. ❤❤❤ One question, how do you calculate the fuel need between going to the fuel dock, and how much fuel do you keep with you?
Thank you for the kind words and advice❤️ appreciate you and your words very much I know the rate my boat burns per hour and calculate what I burned each trip
That mystery boat was just downright spooky especially where you were, as I was down in Georgetown with my sister and her friend and had an encounter with some not-so-locals from Cuba who were en route to WPB via go-fast boat, standing room only in the cockpit! They tried to get my sister and her friend to go for a ride with them at 1:00 am but my best friend and I put a quick stop to that and left the Piece & Plenty! So there's all kinds but GT is much nicer now and much more developed than it was in 1986!!
Great sailing skills as always, Lauren. And videography and narrative totally 💯. Huge congratulations…🎉 As a solo sailor myself, I identify with the safety concerns. I wear around my neck on a lanyard a Personal Locater Beacon (PLB) for activation in emergency. Small in size and lightweight, the PLB alerts rescue authorities via satellite link, and transmits a precise GPS position. I’ve imagined using it if I were to fall over the side. It would work equally effectively in the event of an intruder or other incident. I’m guessing you’ve considered wearing one while underway at sea. Go well, Lauren, you’re an inspiration.
First off when you were leaving Nassau and the sun was in your face, you looked absolutely beautiful……Second you look so happy! Remember balance boat work, business work, sailing and personal happiness……..It’s not easy, but learn how to do it or you will get burnt out….
Hi Lauren, in the passed, I was a Boat owner at one time it was a small 25' Skip- Jack with a Tubor Diesel Pennta.... I understand you on maintenance on a boat... Safe travels out there Girl you are amazing 🙂💃
When a person is passionate about what they are doing it is very attractive and exciting. Thank you for your channel and your postings. They are wonderful.
People that are beautiful must live the hardest of lives's, with so much work and frustration resulting from being beautiful, not so simple😢...blessings...m
This actually made me think about the title quite a bit. I felt very nervous for you, we can never know who could show up during those nighttime hours. I'm glad nothing happened. I know I would think of having something extra with me to protect myself. Because, in the end, we can't foretell what we may encounter. Stay safe out there. I love the content here, your smile is uplifting. Beautiful 👍 As previously mentioned in other comments, your joy and happiness for the sail.... it shows so much. Excellent video 😃👍
You are an amazing young Lady with Class. Your gratitude twoward your Patrons is truley heart felt. Live your dream, maintain integrity, dignity and self.
Sounds like Mako needs some shore leave. I always wondered if you ever had trouble with intruders or pirates. Must be scary. Be safe and well wishes for you and Mako.
I enjoy your videos so much, I reminds me when I used to sail, always struggled with sleep at sea but your encounter at night was abit weird, hope they were just checking if you were ok, be carefu as there’s some weirdos about
We just came back yesterday from a family vacation to Exuma. What an amazing place! Did the trip to the pigs/nurse sharks, etc. Was our first trip to Exuma, and will not be our last. Kids loved it. Would love to cruise the cays someday! Or possibly retire there. Love seeing the work that goes into cruising/owning a boat like that. Thanks for sharing the realities that one faces. Look forward to your future escapades!
so cool video in the sunset. wow... i think you are amazing to be solo on your boat. just see Erik cross island to faroe island in heavy sea and solo to. so nice to see some nice easy sailing hehe. love the picture in the sunset. i myself looking for my own boat to travel the world to before it too late.
Hey Lauren, my name is john and I'm 23 from Israel I strated watching your videos one year ago, and you inspired me to circumnavigate the Mediterranean, I'm halfway through. I think you are amazing And sometimes watching your videos makes me feel insecure about my self Because its hard to accept for me that there is a girl out there that is just better than me😂 I know I sound childish. I hope I will meet you and mako one day in person❤
M y cat does the same, won’t stop chatting until he gets what he wants or you leave the room. Keep yourself safe and Mako, broke my heart when Sailing Sunday lost their cat at a marina 😢
I've started watching your sailing videos and what you do is incredible. I hope to one day get back into sailing like I did in sea scouts when I was a teenager. But other than that I'm glad you're safe after that creepy incident at night. BTW: I love Mako lol.
I know this episode is 10 months old, but being new to your channel and adventures I am sorry that you went through peopel boarding your boat. I often wondered what you do regarding safety as sadly not everyone in this world is a nice as you are. Please take care of yourself out there Lauren. You are an inspiration to sailors and women across the world, that they too can do what they want and hopefully without fear of anything bad happening. Learn self defence, get a taser or similar. Look after yourself.
Hi Lauren, glad you are ok...I think Mako was trying to warn you-some kitties are psychic. Had a scary time trying to move my new to me boat this week- the Columbia River had weather changes that put me on the hook in 30+ knots against tide. Was stuck aground when the PO installed electric motor tried to throw the prop shaft out of the boat which left the current putting us in the shoal mud aground. Needed to wait 6 hours for a tow in deteriorating conditions! FunTimes!!! Rivers are dangerous....! You are amazing- good sailor. Grab a boathook and give 'em hell or get the flare gun and send a flare their way...The Wonderkat was worried about protecting you. Fair winds.
Green light works better! Doesn’t reflect off of mist or any precipitation. Ha! Word of the day, Precipitation. Does extremely well when it dry to, but good luck with that. 😊
Well you are so organized love the way you plan out everything that you have to do. Everything is going so smoothly for you. I think that they were probably just fishermen seeing if anyone was awake to say hi how was the fishing. Glad you are O.k. There was another yacht that had a hole in their hull and they called mayday and the fishermen came with epoxy and saved their yacht so there are a lot of good people on the water. Thank you for sharing what wonderful times that you have had with everyone. Like I swaid there are lots of good people in the world.
Well glad to see you made it safe and sound. Be really careful out there alone. That boat coming close to you could have turned out bad but so happy it didn’t. Maybe they were just checking to see if you looked okay. A word to the wise overnight sails where you don’t get much sleep can make a old lady out of you before your time. So when you anchor get plenty of rest and catch up on sleep. I did without sleep a lot in my younger years, and never knew how important it is. I look older than my age and have had lots of non life treating health problems. People thought I was older than my Dad. And thought he was my younger brother. So yeah sleep and rest is important. Be careful sweetie, I would hate to know something bad happened to you. I think we all would hate that. I love the boat and the life you have, seems very appealing even with all the projects and boat work. And you and that cat Mako are hilarious, he seems to understand what you say. This one here is worth watching over and over. Well all your vids are and I do watch them more than once most of the time.
Hi Lauren, one of your videos came up on my feed and watched and then another etc. I think I've seen quite a few now (~10ish) and subscribed. Since I'm about 3x your age I don't have the ability to do what you're doing but if I could I would as you're an inspiration. Great attitude and seems you know where to put your faith! (Mako pretty cool too) I will continue to follow and checkout how to support you in your adventures. Stay safe and continue to be smart in all you do!
YOU ARE STILL #1 LAUREN LANDERS , 🐋AND MAKO IS BY FAR THE #1 MATE. I LOVE HOW HE LETS YOU KNOW HE IS NOT AS ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT SAILING AS YOU ARE. 💫 ELIJAH ♥️
That was great, charged up episode with a cool nite sale, that strange behaving boat was a worry I gotta say, but you arrived on time and safe thank god, Mako, hmm, maybe he left a girlfriend at the last port, haha, sounds like a sailor thing,, You are so happy, making us all happy, have a great day. Oh and I must say, now being a patron for the first time, has unexpectedly made me feel great supporting something I love 💙
Late to comment on this i know but catching up on videos i missed. If you have a flare gun i would keep it handy at night especially. Pointing that at someone is gonna scare them off. Also if someone sees you alone on deck, just shout into the boat someone's name, like you are asking someone to come on deck. That will scare them too..
A couple thoughts regarding the creepy encounter. First, always remember that no place is really safe. People have creepy encounters sitting in their living room . . . watching someone living their dream on UA-cam . . 🙄 Never let that scare you. Second, I'm sure you are aware of the things you can do to protect yourself. Self-defense classes can be hard to find but worthwhile if you can. But things like OC (pepper spray) or stun guns can be very effective. I'm sure you know all of this but it's worth mentioning. Anyway, keep doing what you're doing!
You need a dog! Sailing Sunday has a german shepherd called Jackson. One time Britney on the boat was alone at the dock and a group of guys saw her and decided to climb on the boat! She told them no! But they didn't listen! She called Jackson from the cockpit and when he appeared they soon went running back on the dock! I'd hate to think what could have happened without the dog to protect her.
Keep doing what you are doing. We use "Echomax Active-X" an electronic radar reflector, returning a big ping when painted with radar, perhaps this will work for you too. Regards to "Mako-da-Man".
I love following you! Seeing you on the foredeck at the forestay filming while the boat is underway with autohelm on is worrisome. It’s just not safe. Clip in! If you don’t have a tether let me know and I’ll send you one.
Great video, just a couple questions, how well do you see at night or do you rely mostly on radar and your instruments and wouldn’t you have picked up that little boat like you did the catamaran on radar? Thank you once again for sharing your videos with us be safe our prayers are with you.
Lauren for your own protection you need to get a side arm for your protection. keep in a place on the vessel that's concealed and easy access . Please for your safety!!!
Just subscribed a few weeks ago. I am looking for my own boat as its time to do a you!. Good advice thx's. Keep living life to the full and be safe.. Have you got the windless working yet?
When you turn the stink pot off and set the canvas, it never gets old does it? Christopher Cross' song "Sailing" kind of expresses the emotion of sailing best. The only issue with a red light is that it screws with your eye focus. Sweetie, you are always in our hearts, especially a kindred sailor.
Solution to your nighttime problems: a Glock pistol and a good combat 12 gage shotgun. All you'll have to do is rack the slide on the pump gun. It is the loudest sound at night there is. You'll never have to use either one of them but, of course, take a class on using them just in case. Using them is better than being dead.
Yikes Cpt. You can't carry many weapons on a boat and fighting on the high seas solo isn't smart, but you can get an extremely bright flashlight (+15K Lumens) and keep it handy. It can be used to "blind" them and you can see them without them being able to see you. Beyond that, get below decks, lock the hatch and get on 16 for a Pan-Pan call. You're a badass, so don't let fear get the better of you. Rock on \m/
Wow seeing that small boat would definitely be a stressful moment!!! I can try being your security 😂! Or would definitely love to learn how to truly sail. Keep up the awesome work!! 👍
3 things:
1. the creepy encounter in the night scared me quite a bit too. Glad that nothing happened to you.

They do for sure
LAUREN LANDERS OBVIOUSLY THE MOST PERFECT 1O.....EVER!!!!!
Hey Lauren, I take my hat off to you. You're so brave and a gutsy girl sailing out all those nautical miles solo and nights as well. Inspirational - 10/10
Lauren, you simply amaze me with how well you handle all of the things you need to do to keep your boat in good order. And you are entertaining.
Aww thanks
That encounter sounded creepy. As a dad, that would be my biggest worry for my daughter if she was sailing as you do.
It cracks me up when you and Mako talk, so funny in a very good way! May the waves and wind always be kind to you!

Loved sailing with my father in Florida.. can't wait to get back on the water it's wonderful on a sailboat.
I am a retired Air Force pilot with the call sign "Mako" so I am definitely going to be following your adventures. That encounter with the other boat was scary. Please be safe and be careful. Love to watch and hear from your journeys. ❤
Thank you
You are amazingly capable no matter what you do. A true inspiration for all.
🙏🏼 thank you
Thanks!
For the pink post its and the #jcass meet-up. Great video young lady. Hugs from us 🤗
Aww thank you❤️❤️
Hey Lauren, I have to say that this episode ran me through the whole scale of emotions. ❤❤❤
One question, how do you calculate the fuel need between going to the fuel dock, and how much fuel do you keep with you?
Thank you for the kind words and advice❤️ appreciate you and your words very much
I know the rate my boat burns per hour and calculate what I burned each trip
That mystery boat was just downright spooky especially where you were, as I was down in Georgetown with my sister and her friend and had an encounter with some not-so-locals from Cuba who were en route to WPB via go-fast boat, standing room only in the cockpit! Love the interactions with you and Mako! Scary about the unwanted visitor. You definitely did the right thing!
😊🙏🏼
Great sailing skills as always, Lauren. And videography and narrative totally 💯. Huge congratulations…🎉
As a solo sailor myself, I identify with the safety concerns.

Yep, Yep!!
Awesome video girl!!! See ya next week.
😊
I love bout live i following u each time ur saling
Have a great weekend!!
Wow.. mind blowing you know how to do all that stuff. So fellow travelers decide to live in Nassau? Wonder what that is like?
Hello Lauren...Mako...was driving my kitty Mojo crazy trying to find him...lol...glad your safe...and stay safe !...😊🐱
😂
Enlightening video
Keep doing what you are doing. We use "Echomax Active-X" an electronic radar reflector, returning a big ping when painted with radar, perhaps this will work for you too. Regards to "Mako-da-Man".
I love following you! Seeing you on the foredeck at the forestay filming while the boat is underway with autohelm on is worrisome. It’s just not safe. Clip in! If you don’t have a tether let me know and I’ll send you one.
Was the center counsole running at night without Nav lights?
How you cook when boat moving slide to slide ⛵
He is a good pretty cat 😺
Good Sail
4:08 what else? you looks very beautiful today! 🙂
Great video, just a couple questions, how well do you see at night or do you rely mostly on radar and your instruments and wouldn’t you have picked up that little boat like you did the catamaran on radar? Thank you once again for sharing your videos with us be safe our prayers are with you.
Get self protection . And newer radar fixed
The radar is expensive.. but on the list
Lauren for your own protection you need to get a side arm for your protection. keep in a place on the vessel that's concealed and easy access . Please for your safety!!!
How do you receive wishlist gifts when you're travelling?
Purple light is even better for night in my opinion.
That was scary--I do hope that you have good protection on board ,just in case !!!
🙏🏼
Just subscribed a few weeks ago. I am looking for my own boat as its time to do a you!. Good advice thx's.
Keep living life to the full and be safe..
Have you got the windless working yet?
Aww yay!!! Yes it is
Is that Rum Haven any good?
Be careful out there.
God Bless
Haha yeah
hello from west virginia
10 foot is wayyyyyy tooo close for comfort, wow. That was CREEPY AF, stay safe out there. Fair winds and tight lines.
It definitely does not get old
Hi Lauren. You are very smart! Who taught you everything you know?
Amazing!!!
Rock on \m/
He met a nice lady cat 🐈. 😂. He wants out mom.
😂
You, Me and a bottle of Rum😀🚀🌈

WE ARE LIVING IN PERILOUS TIMES.
ELIJAH ♥️
Wow seeing that small boat would definitely be a stressful moment!!! I can try being your security 😂! Or would definitely love to learn how to truly sail. Keep up the awesome work!! 👍
😂🙏🏼
