I Try To Walk Onto Georgia Tech’s Football Field

When I went to Georgia Tech in the mid 80’s the stadium was always wide open and unlocked. There was a 3 lane track around the field you could run on. I used to do wind sprints on the actual field and make field goals with my lacrosse ball and stick through the uprights from the 50 yard line . You could go to the top of the stands if you wanted to any time. There was no security and it wasn’t needed.

As a student, I can attest that Bobby Dodd is known for being easy to get inside. GTPD does a good job keeping campus safe, so there’s never any real trouble

I’m a Tech guy and I can appreciate the desire to check out a stadium you are near! My friend and I have been known to drive half way across a state just to go see a stadium. We have managed to get on the field of a few over the years! Hope you enjoyed the visit - it’s a great setting for football. Go Jackets!

I went to grad school at Tech until a few years ago and my lab/office was just a little west of the stadium, on the other side of Cherry St. I was surprised how open the stadium was but also GTPD is pretty present so I never risked trying to go in uninvited.
