Thank you for posting the lyrics. This aria sounds so dramatic and beautiful when sung by an actual mezzo-soprano (i.e. not just a piano). Those last few bars (from "O vagabonda stella d'oriente" to "scorta il mio amor") always give me goose bumps when I hear Giuletta Simionato sing them. They soung magnificent!
Strange that no one mentioned here the Italian Fedora Barbieri (1920-2003) who was by many (insiders) considered as one of the most sensational examples. Including the impressive chest voice. "The best" is not always the most attractive one, or the most sensational. !
If you wish more sensational firework, listen to the Mexican mezzo Oralia Dominguez (1927-2013) on youtube (This is opera archive). A most remarkable mezzo, sang with Callas .
