    Awesome video Peter! The B757 is my favorite plane. So classic and powerful, the sound from those Pratt and Whitney engines are unmatched. The Rolls Royce RB211 engines have that unique sound as well. Love your knowledge of ATC, I retired from Air Traffic Control recently after 34 years as a Center Controller at NYARTCC. Keep up the great work!

    Hey Peter, per usual... great content. Last year I had the opportunity to Fly on AA's Triple 7 (777) from FLL-JFK First Class (American Flagship First). As you described in great detail, my experience too, was very much identical. Right up to the boarding phase and utilizing 2 of the left entry doors, with First Class to the left and business to the right, followed by Premium & Coach. I too had access to their Lounge (Admirals Club), Priority Check-in and a personal favorite of mine, the Priority Baggage Retrieval. They tag your luggage, this way when you reach your final destination, your luggage comes up first.
    The only differences between your fight versus mine, first being the 3 cabins. 2nd, all of the First Class Seats we like pods. Individual pods with lie-flat seat. However unlike the 757, the 777 allowed you to exit your seat without disturbing your seat-mate. (Obviously due to the aircraft being a wide-body, thus having 2 aisles). There was also a small type (wall - for lack of a better word) partition for added privacy. Only to be used once the aircraft reached cruising altitude. (Sort of like 4 jetBlue's Mint Single Seats).
    If you haven't tried jetBlue Mint, give it a shot. I know, I know, I know, you're an Delta person but if ever you do decide, try their Mint Class.
    3rd... the Entertainment System. In my opinion... it was out of this world. You were able to start a "chat-room" amongst the fellow passengers, touch-screen monitors, Bose Headphones, and movies.
    I purposely selected that flight because it allowed me the opportunity to fly on their Triple 7. I often search their schedules just to see what aircraft are flying that route. Although one would think that the 777 would be over kill for such a short flight due to it's size. But the flight was actually FULL, OVERSOLD, with vouchers in excess of $1000, were being offered. Had this NOT been a 777, I would've definitely accepted the offer, also considering they offered me more compensation, 1st class on the next day flight, meal and Hotel accommodations.
    I even tested the waters a bit by countering their offer. I had asked in exchange for my seat, would it be possible to receive compensation in the form a actual money opposed to a voucher. Guess what... they agreed. Of course at this point, I now look like a jerk. I didn't expect them to agreed to it, but when they did, I still debating on holding onto that seat. As it was the ONLY 777 flying this particular week.
    In any event, the experience was very nice and much similar to your experiences as well.
    Great video my friend. As always.

    Wait a minute you mean to tell me that the pilot had to start the engines at the gate? Man I worked the ramp for over 10 years for Northwest and they didn’t have a air cart to hook up from the jet bridge or a portable air cart? Was the APU not working? That right there alone is a reason not to pay that kind of money or miles for a seat like that and how many miles did it cost you to fly round-trip on Delta one from New York to Las Vegas a couple hundred thousand?

    Delta One is only available on International routes and coast-to-coast premium transcons (SFO/LAX-JFK/EWR/BOS). Delta service between JFK-LAS is sold as First Class and does not grant Sky Club access or any other Delta One service benefits regardless of your aircraft cabin hard product. Other equipment flown on JFK-LAS are A320s and 737s which do not have lie flat seats and thus First Class is the highest fare class offered on this particular routing. Delta One also has full plated meal options - not some shrink-wrap box of snacks yet another indication this was not a Delta One flight.

    • @PeterMasella
      @PeterMasella 2 роки тому +1

      Hi Colton. Thanks for watching my video! Your statement is true but only for a pre-pandemic world. Prior to the pandemic, Delta One was only offered on routes that you mentioned. During the pandemic, however, Delta started using aircraft equipped with Delta One Cabins on domestic routes, such as this flight. The majority of these flights were sold as "First Class" using a "Delta One" seat and the price would be a lower First Class price. However, on occasion, Delta sold some of these flights as a "Delta One" product. I chose this flight because it was sold as Delta One and operated as Delta One. This explains the high price of $3,466. The price would have been lower if sold as First Class. It also said "Delta One" on my boarding pass and I boarded with the "Delta One" boarding zone. In addition, Westin bedding was used on the seat which is only found in Delta One service. The reason why the meal service was a shrink-wrap box of snacks is because this was at a point during the pandemic where Delta was not offering hot meals. In addition, at booking for this flight, when selecting Delta One, it did show Sky Club access as one of the benefits. I have taken several flights during the pandemic on aircraft that had Delta One cabins but the ticket was sold as "First Class". During these flights, I paid a lower price, sat in a lie at seat, and I did not get bedding. There was no access to sky club and as for the food, well, since hot meals were removed, I just got a shrink-wrap box of snacks too. This video was filmed in July 2021 when things were different. Those shrink-wrap boxes are gone in first class and have been replaced with boxes of food, like sandwiches and eventually they will be replaced with hot meals. The pandemic has had a huge impact on service.
