Great show a really solid production. Jan Micheal Vincent was a legitimate movie star, Ernest Borgnine was an academy award winner back when it mattered in the 50s. With the great Alex Cord in a supporting role it couldn’t get any better than this. Add in Airwolf the helicopter with some of the best musical synth work of the 80s. Pure lightning in bottle or on celluloid.
@@zt1053 The show started out as a cold war type of series, it then degenerated to being an internal problem solver type of show similar to the A-team for example. I mean, when you have an episode where you're using a helicopter gunship against a guy with a bow and arrow (season 3 : tracks) you know the shark has been well and truly jumped. JMV's alcoholism and arrests didn't help matters, before being hired for the show he promised to kerb his drinking, if anything it got worse over time. The actual helicopter was sold off before the final 2 or 3 episodes were filmed as they already had the stock footage to make them without it, the stage prop version of the helicopter shows up in the final episode sitting in a parking lot for a scene. Had they stuck to the season 1 formula and had JMV got help for his drinking it could have had a longer, more successful run. Just wasn't to be.
@@gerv55 I read somewhere executive producers changed in between seasons 2 and 3 which played a part in the change in tone. That's why Deborah Pratt left because it was her husband. The series was definitely darker in season 1.
Score for this ep was some of the best. The Loki theme is brilliant, and the music used in the helicopter chase when Hawke chases the Doc is what I always hear in my head when I see her flying and it's not a battle.
LOKI is also similar to Fortune Teller from Season 3 but the difference is that the pilot controls the aircraft with their mind whereas LOKI completely computer AI. Fun fact the footage of the Huey being shot down is reused in season 3’s Airwolf II during the testing. While the fight footage is reused during season 3’s Wildlife, & Girl Who Fell From the Sky.
OK, the enemy pilot had also passed out and accidentally turned off LOKI. That chopper was going to crash regardless. Doc did not have to waste a missile.
@@Airwolf10002 Same actor, different role on a different episode perhaps? That would be too obvious though as they'd make sure if they recast the same actor, they'd be villains like Devon Ericson portraying a terrorist who for some stranger reason pilots WW2-era bombers against Airwolf.

This is one programme I would love to see being brought back, but they would have to find 2 new actors as both Jan Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine have died. Or, as they are currently planning on doing with Knight Rider make a movie of Airwolf.
Gosh this is the real Airwolf Team. The ""Airwolf 2" bullshit with st John and the other weirdos is the most indignity to this Hammer Serie!! Everything what Airwolf makes was destroyed by this lower low budget shit
Yeah, it took Caitlin how long to get the hang of it? And Doc scores a kill on his first flight (granted, against an aircraft that was going to crash anyway, so ... waste of ammo.)
Al Poe Doc asks how to fire the missiles, Dom says right thumb as that is how they would fire them on the flight stick however Doc is using the left handed controls thus he has to use the left thumb thus Dom should have said left thumb. Not really a plot hole more of script oversight in my mind.
@@JHdamnihatehandles Both sticks are the same. That way the pilot whoever is flying won't get confused. It's like driving a car. The gas pedal is always on the right, no matter which side the driver's seat is. That's why the mail carriers can drive the mail vehicles because it doesn't confused them.
Would it surprise you if this dogfight had to be filmed as-is due to Jan-Michael Vincent actually passing out while in the cockpit, where Ernest Borgnine & the actor who played "Doc" were told to improvise?
There was no way for Loki to win. It was learning string's flying style, After he passed out doc took over and Loki became road kill. Not to talk trash on the Lady, but I have to admit, that Loki computer was a real marvel.
Yeah, actually what got to Loki was not calculating with the turbulence it got the chopper into, that's why it started spinning around all of a sudden. The Airwolf's more sturdy structure and safety measures were what saved it from getting into the same trouble (then again, it was also them stirring that turbulence up even more)
Another thing that happens if a pilot passes out at the controls is their license will be suspended until 2 doctors approved by the CAA give him/her clearance to fly. Testing will include screening for epilepsy, heart problems, diabetes, etc; all the prime suspects when a healthy suddenly loses consciousness for no logical reason.
Technically these are criminals who stole proprietary software meant for the US military to use, thus the CAA probably doesn't have jurisdiction over them.
