Let’s take back the music industry. Support local artists, buy there merch and see them live.
The music industry is dead as far as rock . Rock is dead because there's not enough album sales to generate the cash flow . Record companies are not going to sign a 5 man band , not enough money to be made and split . Rock bands also need a large road crew , expensive instruments etc. While rap and pop needs a mixing board and a microphone lol .
This is why it's mainly rap and pretty faced solo artists these days . Very few new rock bands make it now . Touring generates money for the Bands that were already established 20 + years ago but they're aging fast . Streaming killed the " potentially big" up and coming Rock Bands .
Take the indie route. Less of a chance to end up enslaved by a very-long-term contract.
Just for them to blow up and sign a deal😂
Exactly💯
@@manchesterexplorer8519yea it's sad isn't it. Rap artists who are rich even though they're not real musicians
That’s what’s so powerful about social media and paying attention to your negotiating skills. If you have talent and people like you they can be sidestepped them, because they’ve always been the middleman and now that’s evaporating. It’s nice to see humanity start to take their power back. Once you sign they got that ass on whatever you signed. NEVER GIVE YOUR POWER AWAY.
It’s rigged. It needs to be investigated. It’s almost like a ponzi. All these guys are connected. Even the lawyers for some of the entertainers, work quietly against their client. Looks like crimes are being committed. Someone should start a petition to have the justice department look at this. And if it’s all okay. We carry on
How you gonna do it without using their platforms like Spotify?
So what to do?
We must start creating our own wide open free speech platforms and switch to them. We’ve allowed one big group of parasites corner the entire market giving us one option when we should have endless options.

When I seen the thumbnail to this clip I automatically thought it was going to be about a rapper, because they're always exposing the music industry the most. Now I see artists from all genre's are being screwed over with their contracts
Rappers simply get screwed over easily because half of the ones that get signed know nothing about music, or the industry and the other half can't even read the contract they're signing.
There's actually a documentary from awhile back about Thirty Seconds to Mars, Jared Leto and the band, and their lawsuit with their label. It basically exposed it back then and the type of deals/contracts that any type of music artist is exposed to or signed on to.

It’s the reason some artists release “Greatest Hits” albums, so they can fulfill a contract and change labels to get a better deal. You have to remember, it’s a business. It’s not just the artist, but the team promoting them that also has to make money. Artists make little in streams vs what they make touring.

The whole interview with Billy is brilliant
Makes sense why artists don’t drop music they should be dropping. The labels get in their minds “you’re going to fall off let me take over” then they drop some weird ahh music cause the labels really know nothing and they’ll maximize the most profit out of someone they “think” is falling off but in reality they never were
Here’s the thing… Record labels can make anybody famous! The difference between your favorite artist & the local artist you walk right past performing at your local fair is the money & record company behind them! So with that being said, record companies back in the day before streaming used to have to spend millions developing an artist, millions on studio time, producers, writers, engineers etc. then on top of that spend millions on distribution & marketing your album! By the time your album drops they are already $10 Million in the hole! Then they pay for your wardrobe, Tour bus, travel fees, hotels, dancers, security, food etc & say you sell 3 million units, cd’s were roughly $14.99 back then so that’s $45 Million revenue minus 30% retail fee bringing them to $31.5 Million then minus the original $10 million principal they spent to get the record out there which brings them to $21.5 million, then 21% to 37% in taxes but we’ll say 21% for now… that brings them to $16,985,000, then let’s not forget they probably signed the artist for millions of dollars up front & if your running a business you want a nice return! This is why the money gets funny after the sales come in. They’re like “I invested $10 million into this album so why shouldn’t I take 90% of the profits!” It’s not all that unfair as we think & that’s assuming you sell millions, most artists don’t! What if you only sell 1 million or worst go gold & sell maybe 600,000 units! You’d want 90% too! Then you got some entitled artist that would still be on the streets had you not helped them demanding you pay them millions for investing nothing but their voice! Most of these artists are lazy & want something for nothing! This guy is worth $60 million complaining because he wants more for investing nothing into himself!
Well if you’re worth $60M, doesn’t seem like there’s a whole lot of wiggle room to complain.
That was from ALOT of hard work on the road on touring
@@90745 i worked stacking cell towers, 80 hours a week , never made a million, some towers were 1500 feet high
Pay attention! He doesn’t get that $60m. And the pressure to return on profit is nearly impossible, with the system he signed up with.
@@albusai 80 hours /week? How long did you do that? Not too long; I can imagine.

This is literally what it means to sell your soul to the devil. You will do whatever they tell you as long as it makes them money.
Sounds like the average 9-5
Satan was the highest of angels and led God's choir before he was cast out of heaven for wanting to be above God. Satan's craft is to take people through music.
@Alice Kae Shut up.
Congratulations nobody cares, all Hail satan
Thats not entirely true...
Elvis Presley for instance was not a Satanist and he took over the Music-Industry in 18months, became and still is the best selling male Artist in Pop/Rock-History and stayed a true Christian until he sadly died with 42. In the last Years he even preached the Gospel at his Concerts and also a lot of times when he was working on a Movie in the Sixties. Not every popular Musician is or becomes a Satanist. You imply that Music in general is EVIL and that`s simply not true.
Music is also part of the Language of God. He speaks through people by Artists that love God.
According to a record producer I know, many labels pool all their resources for a new act's first album or two, then back off and watch the act 'sink or swim'. They don't care, really, because newness is their bread and butter. If an act can sustain, great. If they can't, there's a new up and coming artist waiting in the wings.
bro that ain’t no secret some people are built for it some aren’t
Kanye is right
I farted right when that lil blue thing popped up at the top of the screen like “bloop”
I grew up aspiring to be a musician in a band. Hope to make it big one day. The older i get and learned more about this industry, im thankful i never got into it.
Pumpkins...
One of the absolute best concerts that I've even seen.
Pensacola Florida
Still love them today
“More than half your life”. lol
Come on Joe
At 23 it IS more than half your life that you lived until then.
Well Beatles almost went broke but let us discuss the Beatles rivals The Rolling Stones . Bassist Bill Wyman said ‘ People always ask , Bill why haven’t you bought a Rolls yet . I respond “ I have never been able to afford one . We never saw any real money come in until we got rid of Allen Klein . “‘
Prince spoke about it years back.
Thought it was Bill Burr, then I put on my glasses and turned up the volume on my phone. Lol
To be prominent in music and have longevity you have to love the "GAME" more than the actual creation of music.
Whether it's bots, or paid ads or streaming farms, they are all good tools and shorten the path but at the end of the day if you pay to promote garbage the publications and the people will let it be known.
BUT YOU HAVE TO LOVE THE GAME
Billy Corgan lived in apartment when I met him. Went trick or treating back in the 90s and yeah
Never heard of this person. 🤷🏾♂️ but I believe him. If you're not independent, you're not doing it right. Look at what Strange Music and Nipsey Hustle did. It can be done without then.
This guy is one of the most talented musicians ever. He wrote all of the Smashing Pumpkins music. They have some incredible songs.
Jah bless, as a producer that's why I prefer the long, hard and patience road of being independent for example Freddie Gibbs or Russ or pharrel
This applies to everyone. Contracts exist in 1000s of forms. Buying a house, car, subscribing to websites, your job, your college, joining the military, credit cards, loans, getting medical help, downloading stuff, terms of social media, on an on.
If you want stuff, its more than likely you must first agree to someone elses pre- determined terms and sign, nod, agree, consent, say yes, shake hands or hug and kiss..being 23 is old enuf..yea he was a great artist..but dumb as a rock..like most of us. Dont be greedy, dont follow the carrot on a stick. The less debt you incur..the less beholding you are to others. Debt strangles you, holds you back
This is why some artists don’t get signed with a record deal and stay independent. The music industry has always been about making money because it’s a business. I would think getting a record deal would help an artist to become more famous and to make a lot of money.
These days you can do it all on UA-cam without a label like Harry Mack, Tom macdonald, and a bunch others.
@@darylingoteborg3178 True but if you want to sell a lot of albums you a record label can help a lot with that. There’s only so much promoting of your own music that you can do on your own.
@@hsmfan071 true it gives you a massive boost but if you can establish a significant enough following in your own then you can own 100% of your work.
Improv artists like Marc Rebillet and Harry Mack produce hours of new music every week and make surprisingly good money for something they’d do free anyway and even if no one listened to them.
At least there’s more options these days than 20 year contracts of indentured servitude
