I once heard that not only turtles carry salmonella, but also various reptiles, snakes and lizards in general, and you shouldn't touch them. In my opinion, you need to disinfect your hands, health is the most important thing. The episode is great and I suspect that life in the Greek countryside is also :)
Yes. When I was living in Porto Rafti - the house had a large walled garden. A turtle must have laid her eggs there and when they hatched and were still small, one of my cats found them and brought them to me. She had them all lined up on the balcony wall. I looked up what they need, where they live and took them to the mountains above Porto Rafti and released them on a south facing hill. I grew up in Australia and was taught to not harm wild animals and if they are in trouble to get them out of harm's way.
These morning shots… it’s all so blissfully wholesome. And the old lady at the start with the bread vendor, what a great sense of community! Well done 😘
Thank you so much for your sweet comment and your generous contribution !! It really means a lot and it goes a long way! 🥰 one day maybe I’ll make a small cookbook with the recipes I’ve shown here and some other traditional recipes. It’s a good idea, thank you 🤗
I just started watching your channel and LOVE IT!!!! I love how you narrate. I love the cinematography. I love how you capture the essence of Greek village life. I was born in Thessaloniki but my family emigrated to the United States when I was little. Your videos remind me of my summers in Greece when we would go to my mothers village outside of sparti. So lovely!!!! Keep posting more! I enjoy them so so very much!
Thank you so much, I’m glad you found this channel and that you enjoy the content 🥰 thank you for your sweet comment, I’m so glad I could bring up some old memories for you !
Your video brought me tears. It’s so beautiful ❤️✨ it reminded me of my time at my bf’s mother’s village in πλατανούσσα. Where time moved more slowly, when you don’t feel pressured by anything.
I’m so glad I was able to move you 🥰 hope you’ll have a chance to visit Greece again soon so you can relive your memories! Thank you for your sweet comment 😊
My grandparents all came to the US from Greece around 1910. My Yiayias made such beautiful Greek treats and foods. I had no idea how fortunate we were to have these things. Every year my mother got a huge can of fresh olives in oil from her family grove near Sparta. And yes, we Greeks do have a special philotimo. I always felt 'different' from my Irish and Catholic and Protestant and Jewish friends, that we had our own special way of seeing and living life than they do and did.
Philotimo really is a way of living ! I’m so happy to hear about all the generations of Greeks maintaining their culture abroad and passing it to their kids. It’s a beautiful thing 😊
So much fresh produce! So lovely! I experienced those sands too! Oh, the line tradition is so interesting. Poor turtle! I hope she will stay there and not try to cross the road again. I tried pasteli before but not homemade. Thank you for this lovely vlog!🥰
@@AriadnesVillageLife I did, I alwayls look forward to your videos as there is always something new I learn in them. And the cinematography is amazing!😍

Would you pick up a turtle? And have you heard the same rumour as I have? (No 4K today, sorry. Make sure to watch it in 1080p!)
I think I’ve heard that turtles carry salmonella in their shells… but that might apply only to water turtles!
