One of the most beautiful songs ever written, (Mahalo to Sergio and the Bergmans) and sung by one of the greatest female singers. So glad I got to see her at the Ambassador Hotel before this GREAT performance. R.I.P.
I just finished listening to Sergio Mendez version and i must say I will be listening to this version also from now on. But the Sergio version took me through my cruises to Vietnam aboard the USS Everett F Larson DD 830. I would sit on the fantail with a battery powered turntable purchased in Hong Kong and play all Sergio songs from that era, God. To listen to this music under a stay sky out in the middle of the ocean with fresh air no noise and other sailors sitting around writing letters under a moon and star lit up sky.
I loved how you described your feeling for this beautiful song. I was a young teenage kid, had all of Sergio's albums, and This song was at the top of my favorites. It would take me away, and it still does! Magic!
@@tomvalveede6808 Yep, it's just like magic and you sent me back to the fantail of the USS Everett F. Larson DD830 somewhere in the south Pacific around 1968, thank you.
@@liliancorley5207 Thank you, and I'm still listening to both versions although the times have really changed, and this is how I recapture those great times. As I respond to your comment the time is 1968 and I am now 74 years old.
May Sergio Mendes RIP today 9/6/24 together with so many Stars as with Ms. Natalie Cole 🌸🌱01/2016. This very beautiful Lyrically and melodically song. 💎💙💞🌷
I feel so blessed to have seen Natalie Cole in 2014, seeing her was surreal. I did not realize she was actually ill during that concert, until I read it after she passed. Her performance was stellar. Rest in Peace Natalie Cole, you will always remain Unforgettable.
I am 77 years old, and I heard many very good singers, however after listening Natalie Cole one realizes that she was on a class of her on. And this particular number is really very good. I am glad had the chance of going through life and heard this lady singing this particular song.
I miss her musical contributions. I'm so glad I was able to meet and greet her, receive her embrace and I was able to give her flowers while she lived. It was the highlight of my life when she actually read my card while on stage. She announced to the audience at the Concord Pavillion that the beautiful flowers were from me. She said: " Your card is so beautiful you make me blush and the flowers are really beautiful too." I'll never forget that summer of 2002.
Natalie IS pure magic and life does not beguin in the cradle and also does not end in the grave. Life goes on. I´m a brasilian musician and composer. My homage to the great Sergio Mendes.
The Dawn is filled with dreams So many dreams Which one is mine? One must be right for me Which dream of all the dreams? When there's a dream for every star And there are oh, so many stars, so many stars The wind... is filled with songs, so many songs Which one is mine? One must be right for me Which song of all the songs? When there's a song for every star And there are oh, so many stars, so many stars Along... the countless days The endless nights That I have searched So many eyes... So many hearts... So many smiles... Which one to choose? Which way to go? How can I tell? How will I know? Out of, oh, so many stars..., so many stars... The wind... is filled with songs, so many songs Which one is mine? One must be right for me Which song of all the songs? When there's a song for every star And there are, oh, so many stars, so many stars Along... the countless days The endless nights That I have searched So many eyes... So many hearts... I was born and live in the same city, Niterói, where Sergio Mendes was born, but oddly enough, he is not so well known here, perhaps because he lived in the USA for a long time.
Sad in its own way that she's gone. She freely admitted that her adventures with drugs in her youth helped cut her beautiful life short. Whatta talent.
Wow, +100,000 views! Luckily this amazing concert was filmed. I must say "Ask a woman who knows" is one of her greatest albums! Love you Natalie, miss you forever. RIP.
Natalie Cole is one of the most beautiful ,natural and talented song artists of modern times ! She is beautiful inside & outside. Rest in peace and thank you so much for your heart-warming and inspiring music to us all !
So elegant, treating every phrase, note, with sensitivity. The arrangement is just at a right tone but that piano, running over but with such restrain and impeccable timing.
my first Natalie album was snowfall in the Sahara. if u listen to the music background that reminds those fifties, sixties jazz and pop songs we related to. since she's in my heart, when she sung this will be and I got love on my mind I toldt mother that she had her in her belly, it's very funny and dumb but I couldn't help laughing. rest in power mother and Ganny. thank Mrs Natalie for being like a star for everyone to see through me.

Enchanting. Her voice invites you into a warm secluded corner of a coffee shop on a cold rainy day.
(✧Д✧)YES!! 💫🥀🕊
Sarah Vaughan loved this song. It's lovely to see and hear Natalie singing it with her beautifully feminine voice and interpretation.

The sexy and sensitive Natalie singing a tune that seems written for her. Just beautiful.

Lovely. In the spirit of Sergio Mendes', Marilyn and Allan Bergman's magical collaboration
Yes, the Bergmans are some awesome for writing such beautiful lyrics.

she made this song her own....and her stage presence is impeccable.
So glad I got to see on the Smooth Jazz Cruise in 2015 before she passed away. Thank you for sharing.
She has the voice her daddy gave her she so wonderful.
I've listened to this song on cd, and I love it. But this performance is absolutely captivating. Beautiful.
