LL.M. in Transnational Crime and Justice 2023-2024: The Journey Begins

  • UNICRI and the University for Peace (UPEACE) hosted the Opening Ceremony at the United Nations Campus in Turin (Italy) to welcome participants from 16 countries for the new edition of the Master in Laws (LL.M.) in Transnational Crime and Justice 2023-2024.
    The LL.M. program aims to equip students with the knowledge and tools necessary to support international justice, promote the rule of law, and protect human rights. By contributing to the global fight against transnational crimes, the Master's program prepares students to advocate for criminal justice and accountability as essential components for achieving peace, security, human rights, and development.
    During the Ceremony, attendees were welcomed by prominent figures including Ms. Michela Favaro, Deputy Mayor of the City of Turin; Mr. Roberto Ruscello, Judge at the Tribunal of Turin; Mr. Emilio Gatti, Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Tribunal of Turin; Mr. Mihir Kanade, Academic Director of UPEACE, Co-Coordinator of the LL.M., Head of UPEACE Department of International Law, and Director of UPEACE Human Rights Centre; Mr. Leif Villadsen, Acting Director of UNICRI; Colonel Paolo Mazzuferi, Director of the Post Conflict Operations Study Centre of the Italian Army Training Command and Application School; and Ms. Alice Wairimu Nderitu, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide.
    The United Nations Campus in Turin, renowned as a global crossroad for training and knowledge sharing, served as the fitting backdrop for this significant event.
