As told by those who lived through the Nazi terror, this evocative documentary recounts what it was like for Dutch Jews to face systematic isolation, persecution and elimination. Our subjects were mere children at the time. Children who witnessed their family and friends being arrested and dragged away - and, for most, never to be seen again. Children for whom unbearable pain and loss was cruelly compressed into a single experience of overwhelming terror. Hitler's plan to eliminate an entire race of people may have succeeded if not for those who saw the lie in his quest for perfection, those willing to stand against the Nazi evil-the Dutch resistance. They were ordinary people willing to risk their lives and the lives of their family to shelter and save Dutch Jews. These were Holland’s Hidden Heroes.

I have to wonder about the story of the 2 sisters, their brother and father that survived. Was the father determined to keep his family together even if one daughter had been promised if unhappy she could return to the family she knew. Did her father do it out of spite? Did he do it because of what his experiences and was blind or just didn't care?
At least she never forgot the Momma who raised her and showed her love. Now she is taking care of her.

Imagine, the Dutch cops joined the Hitler supporters! I imagine that what Hitler liked is what the Dutch cops liked. They had a similar mind set. I do have to admit that not all Dutch cops may have thought the same but enough to make their presence as Hitlerites noticeable.

Today I just wash the potatoes to get all the soil off them before i cook them and eat the skin. Why with the shortage of food back then did not people do the same so that even if just a little there would be just that much more to eat?
