Yes! Binding recommendations! Please keep recommending bindings. Great review and I appreciate all the work you put into it!
I'm riding Union Falcors on my CR. Feel like a good fit.
I have Rome Targa
Digging the addition of binding reccs at the end
Always impressive the level of detail he gives on the review. Actually explaining the riding experience and how to approach the board.
I just got my first 2 day in on the racer, I’m 6’ 200 lbs size 10 burton ions flow cx . I’m very happy with the 164 ,it rips!
i came off a dancehaul 152 (18 day start of season)so the cafe racer seemed huge and heavy on the lift .
It took no time at all to become comfortable light and quick. I really like how it carves and still can skid at speeds to fast to drop a edge .
This board really upped my game and i’m looking forward to exploring it upper limits of edge hold. Thanks for the recommendation.
The dancehaul/cafe racer combo is perfect for me .
thanks, thinking about the same. The dancehaul/cafe racer combo.
I second this combo I got a 152 dh and a 159 cafe racer + as well. Both excellent carvers. If I'm feeling aggressive cr+ if I wanna cruise DH. 🏂
No other brand is more exciting than Korua. Best boards out there
I got to try my friend's café racer last season and my god circle carves are so easy with this thing. His board was the 164. Powerful is an understatement with this board. He had flux XF bindings at positive angles with this beast. The review is spot on.
bar none, the greatest reviews, online.
thank you
I don't know have you seen "The Good Ride"?
@@AngrySnowboarder I stand by my post. Sorry
Tried this board in Chamonix for a day and I agree totally with this being a carver. It was on rails! I thought it tended to favor longer carves than shorter, and it didn't inspire me to ollie or pop as I expected a cambered board to do. We might ride a little differently.
To me the name makes a lot of sense, just like the motorcycle equivalent, you can carve mountain passes and some uneven terrain in a pinch, but you're not expected to go much off road. It's not the proper tool for it.
thank you for giving bindings recommendations as well!
Avran...., superb review on this board. One of your best.😎
all postivie racing stance brings korua alive. gotta steer this bad boi with back leg like surfing.
Or I could just ride with the stance that works.
Can't wait for this one. I know nothing about Korua personally. Haven't seen or rode one. But the Powder community is always buzzing about them, & I live for POW!
This is one of the only koruas that's full camber, wasn't designed for powder but it'll definitely hold its own.
^ This.
@@Gorbothy it's amazing in pow, didn't expect it but I don't understand when I would need a dart or pencil
@@MoritzPilz your videos were some of the only ones around on the cafe racer, they helped convince me to buy one and I'm incredibly happy I did so thank you.
It does perform well in powder imo but not as well as something like the dart. Being a good powder board or carving board isn't mutually exclusive. Both the cafe racer and dart can do both well, but they each are exceptional at they're intended purpose.
Even with such a big nose it really doesn't float that well. I've had it in 6" of pretty substantial cement and it preferred sinking. You would have to mount the bindings back and then it turns like a dump truck. So sloooow. If you live for pow look elsewhere (even other Koruas). As Avran said, this is for carving and cruising.
Carving and crusin... That's me :) I love it.
1) I agree
2) I own one
3) I already bought one
Sick board. Had a couple of days on it last season after being off the slopes for a number of years. Was worried that it would be too demanding but it was more forgiving than I expected. Still not a board for someone who wants to mindlessly cruise. Also... gets a lot of attention in the lift lines.
I like the sizing they're offering, think I'll check one out. Thanks for the review!
Defenitely love my Cafe Racer at wide long groomers. My first feeling, though, was: “Why da hell dat board locks on edge, when I don’t mean it???”😅Had Jones Explorer before this:)
This board looks really nice! Sharing to my friends also. I’m 5’6 tall, 130lbs wearing us 8.5 boots. Would you recommend 148 or 150?
48
Thank You for existing
Should probably thank my mom for letting my dad win at wrestling that night 38 years ago. He won the match, she got the trophy.
Gonna ride my cafe racer all day long, skipping many other pow specific boards even on the deepest days ...it's weird but this is how I use it. Sometimes I wish for a slightly longer tail and a little more blunt nose, other than that it's perfect.
Binding recommendation is fucking genius
Great review. Spot on - with one exception - despite the shape it's actually very good at switch. Love my Cafe Racer.
No.
@@AngrySnowboarder can confirm, I don't think of riding it switch I just do it
Put Flux bindings on it and the turn initiation is not slow, also correction on the Pow, it’s a sick Pow board. 🎉
Whatever you need to tell yourself to feel validated.
Nice review! I’m 6’ tall and 165lbs, wearing us 9. Should I get 56 or 59?
56
sorry a noob question: in the video you mentioned softer boots for this board, I googled a bit and some say carving needs stiffer boots for quicker response, could someone let me know which boots is good to learn carving? Also, does burton step on works with this board? I heard they are “slower” than regular strap bindings so I’m a bit unsure
Soft boots: I.E. Not fucking ski boots like those hard boot twats. No one needs Step Ons.
I use the step on bindings with the photon boot. Is that setup too stiff for this board? I’m kinda between the cafe racer and the YES optimistic
Probably not stiff enough.
@@AngrySnowboarder wait actually? I’m confused you said in the review it’s for some soft boots and the photons are a 7 (I think?). Or are you just fuckin around and it’d be fine, cuz I’m leaning towards the cafe racer after going through both reviews
You're on a step on, it's not that stiff.
@@AngrySnowboarder gotcha guess I haven’t experienced enough boot/binding setups just yet. Appreciate all the videos you put out, watch that shit every week 👍
Hey Angry, I’m 175lbs and wear size 8/8.5 boot depending on brand. Should I got 156 or 159?
Thanks!
56
Hey Arvan, Im 5 11" size 12 boots 190 lbs. I was thinking the 159 cm. But I see that a few of the Korua team riders that weigh 170 to 180 and size 10 boots ride the 164 cm. Thoughts on that. I am concerned about the waist width.
Those guys are professional riders that only carve.
@@AngrySnowboarder Got it. Thanks
In my opinion korua boards have too much width if you want a good efective edge. They are carve boards with too much width for they size.If you have 9.5 us boot or less there are better options for carve.
Very good description as usual.Thankss Angry Snowboarder
I’m 27.5 and need 26 waist width or I’m booting out every other turn. My Donek is 28 waist and love it but the board is really heavy.
Sounds like skill issue
Hi Avran, I‘m 6‘2“ at 81 kg, what would be the right lenght for me? 159? 164? Thx a lot for your help. ✌️👊
How stiff and aggressive do you want it?
@@AngrySnowboarder I like aggressive carving, but I‘d like the board to stay nimble and playful and not to stiff at the same time, if that will possible for a true carvingboard. Or do you suggest an completely other board for me, with this kind of preferences? On UA-cam there is a board from Japan, unfortunately not tested by you, they don’t sell their boards outside of Japan. It‘s the BC Stream DR 161, looks great, very playful. A board with similar characteristics from one of the regular brands would be great. Thx a lot Avran, really appreciate your help. 👍🏂
Go with the 59, more torsional twist. But from what you're describing you might like the Nidecker Thruster more.
Thx! 😃✌️
Hi Avran, I have to ask you one more question. My boot size is 13, so do you think it will fit with the waith width of Cafe Racer 159 (269 mm) or Nidecker Thruster ( 266 mm)? I will ride the boards with positive angles. Or shall I go for the Cafe Racer 164 (278 mm)? Would that supplementary 9mm make a real difference in the end? Thx a lot, have a nice day. ✌️👍
I'm 5'4" and 155 lbs, love to carve on groomers, what size should i get 44 or 56?
44
Which out of the Korua boards is best to conquer the shitty east coast snow, ice and chunder? Maybe some occasional moguls or glades, but still primarily for carving those shitty conditions?
Realistically all of them.
What angles do you have on the cafe racer ?
😂
Will we be seeing a review on the Pencil? Would love to hear your review on it.
Eh maybe.
Would you also drive the Rome Cleavers on this carving machine?
You definitely could.
Great review. Looking at Korua pencil anytime soon?
November will probably be the earliest I can get on one.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks for your hard work!
Not 100% it'll be the cafe racer but I'll probably end up with a korua. I've fallen in love with my phantom hard boots I split board in. They're alot more comfortable than you think and super responsive for carving.
I watched Chad O do a top to bottom park lap in them once.
@@AngrySnowboarder I've seen some videos. It's pretty sick.
Cafe racer or nidecker thruster for quick edge to edge carving? Faster base?
The one with a base structure on it. Cafe Racer is stiffer but carves more aggressive, Thruster is softer but easier to turn.
@@AngrySnowboarder I ride the superpig 2020. For a 2 board quiver, would the CR or the thruster have the least overlap with the superpig?
Thruster by a little, but honestly no reason to own either as they both get the job done.
Did you feel that the 156 was the right size for your weight? Or could the 159 been a better fit?
I would have died on the 59.
Will you review the new nose rider or pocket rocket?
Pocket Rocket shows up Thursday.
I’m a bit confused. How does the cafe racer and tranny finder do against each other? My impression is tranny finder can do more, but does cafe racer carve better?
I watch these reviews with no intention of actually buying the boards
You're not the only one.
Good stuff
Nice broheem. Real nice bro 😎
Sounds like board i have to add to my quiver
cafe racer or telos back/slach?
What are two entirely different snowboards with two entirely different purposes for $400 Alex?
@@AngrySnowboarder I choose a snowboard for freeride (forest) and carving. My weight is 115 kg, my shoe size is 15. In my case, is back/slash or cafe racer more suitable?
Backslash.
Thinking of adding this to my quiver. Too much overlap with superpig?
Mornin y'all
Kinda weird for a top dollar board not to have full wrap edges, riding style be damned. Shit do happen. I gotta move to a place with more civilization and get on some demos, would love to try some Koruas out.
Koruas are quite affordable for how good and original the shapes are. I personally would prefer full wrap edges but i’m not complaining at that price point.
Have you seen Mervin boards? 800 plus and tucked edges.
@@gregone only ones I've seen up here are $800-1000. I consider that top dollar, just like buying retail priced lib.
@@-tr0n the café racer is 550 usd and they’re less than that in the Eu.
@@gregone congrats.
Looks like it needs batteries :)
If you need batteries for a snowboard you're clearly doing it wrong.
@@AngrySnowboarder I think he's interested in a different kind of "riding"
@@lofipanduh I hear there’s a few other channels for that
