It's fun to goof around with these kinda things imo. However, the 5 game winning streak made it fun to be a Bronco fan again for a little bit. We may not see it right away, but those wins have a chance to build a foundation for a different culture going forward. You never, never want to lose on purpose. Fun hypothetical though :)

Everyone thought they were about to trade Jeudy and Sutton midseason last year, maybe Simmons and Russ too.. but started winning a few games right near the deadline. I kinda wish they did but it showed Payton had faith in the team at that time. Hindsight 20/20

And that is part of why I really can't see a Sean Payton-led team bottoming out the way many pundits expect of the 2024 Broncos. He and his staff will tweak and maximize what they have and massage at least 5 wins, probably 6 to 8 in the end.

The “what if” series is awesome, keep ‘em coming! I know you mentioned what if the Broncos never traded for Russel Wilson, how about what if they traded for Aaron Rodgers as well? Or what if the Broncos didn’t lose on those bogus holding calls on Chubb vs the bears & jaguars in ‘19 (assuming the rest of the season went the same as actually occurred, Broncos would have the tiebreaker over Tennessee that year)? What if the broncos didn’t draft Paxton lynch (& also assuming that KC picks him instead)?

I’m glad the team had a 5 win streak with a victory over kc…I needed that as a fan. I think the Houston game brought them back to earth and they lost their swagger and doubt creep back in.

As it actually turned out, Denver's losses to the Raiders made it possible to draft Bo Nix.
