  • Croagh Patrick, nicknamed 'the Reek', is a mountain with a height of 764 m and an important site of pilgrimage in County Mayo, Ireland. The mountain has a pyramid-shaped peak and overlooks Clew Bay, rising above the village of Murrisk, several miles from Westport. It has long been seen as a holy mountain. Around 20,000 to 25,000 pilgrims still climb the mountain each year on the last Sunday in July. Some pilgrims still clim barefoot or on hands or knees.
St. Patrick reputedly fasted here for 40 days and nights before banishing the snakes from Ireland.
In June 2021, finally got to climb Croagh Patrick. I found it tough especially near the top but it's so rewarding once you reach the peak. #ireland

I climbed this fabulous location on the climb with Charlie, a day I'll certainly never forget in my lifetime, I must say it's a hard climb, but very worth the effort, when you approach the little white Chapel, amazing place. Kevin carolan bailieborough co cavan.

It's one tough climb I tell ya. For the summit in some parts you have to push with all your body weight to get up. My legs were in absolute SH*** for days everytime I have done it
