As a Canadian, it is great to see someone using them! I would love to see someone do a scenario for Ortona, in Italy, Canadian 1st Div vs German Paras. Love you vids...eh!
Very nice first video - looking forward to more. For my part, rather than the wrap-up each turn, I would love to see the actual dice rolls. Definitely adds some anticipation and excitement to it! I played RF several years ago; but, kind of lost interest in it when FoW came out. I may take a look at Reloaded though - it looks like a hoot. Keep up the great work!!
This was an excellent AAR. So much detail and great scenery. Lot of super kit, and markers.... well, I'll be nicking some ideas there. Very much hope to see more of these. Congratulations
Stumbled upon this video ,really enjoyed the battle ,did not realise there is a updated rule set, thanks for posting ., Lovely looking terrain am inspired👍👍
Enjoyable vid, looking forward to the next. I've played Rapid Fire rules for many years and always been a fan, have yet to play the new set but will certainly give it a go. Well done 👍👍
Rapid fire is still the best ww2 rules on the market for speed / playability / realism. I am still using the origional green book rules been playing them since 97. Good to see the Canadian troops out and about, a force I am in the process of putting together. Great quality of terrain, a re-run of the game might be one german company plus the armour in ambush, then being re-enforced by the rest of the battalion... Great stuff!
Glad you liked it mate. If anything, the antitank rules are a bit too simple but if you want a quick playing game they are great. I like the simplicity too.
Good battle report. Rapid Fire is still my favourite WW2 rules, I’ve tried Battlegroup and still go back to playing Rapid Fire. I bought the Reloaded, but have not played it yet.
I love Battlegroup, but RF will be played more I think because it’s nice and simple. Big games in a couple of hours shouldn’t be a problem. Cheers mate.
Nice report. Thanks for sharing. Just got my RF Reloaded rules yesterday. I was wondering if you did the "Hero Test" when your PIAT trooper "jumped out" of the carrier and advanced toward in the open the Panther (and took him out). The trooper would have needed to throw a 6 in order to fire at the Panther. Possibly didn't mention it for brevity.
So is the scale not 1:1 for this game? The minis are just counters ? Not sure how only a section of riflemen can be a company? Also very cool to hear about the royal winnipeg rifles! (I served in that unit for several years)
Excellent battle report mate. Looks like theres a few rule amendments while keeping the basic feel of Rapid Fire. They're on the shopping list. Look forward to the next one.
Thanks for the great video on this set of rules, appreciate all the time it probably took to edit! Have many rule books for WWII - including many of the RF books, just have not played them yet. Was a little confused about the seemingly nebulous morale system - i.e. what constitutes a unit for morale purposes in RF2! ? How is morale in 'Reloaded' handled?
A unit is the battalion, or could be an attatched squadron of armour in RF Reloaded. So for example, a BN has a starting strength of 48 figures. Once it reaches 50 % casuatlies ( ie 24 in this case) it will need to start testing for morale. To test for morale, you work out any modifiers and roll a D6. You then apply the result shown. Its really simple. If you have the reloaded book, it is explained on page 8. Thanks for watching.
@@stigofthedump181 that’d be cool. Maybe do a small campaign or something with follow on battles. See if the VC winning PIAT team survives the war lol. I’ve ordered the rule book. Which means I’ll probably get distracted now and start painting 15mm ww2 😂
It is good to see Rapid Fire videos, but I suggest you go back and read through the rules carefully as you have done loads of things wrong. MMGs cannot move and fire, they need to be stationary for the move to fire as an MMG. 81mm mortars cannot knock out an AFV. The humber is not armed with a 37mm autocannon. Full vehicle stats can be found on the Rapid Fire website.
Cheers, this is a vid made during covid, 3 years ago. Mistakes may have been made. 😆 However, on re reading the rules.. Indirect fire can take out an AFV in RF reloaded, so long as the calibre is above 80mm. page 12. I had all the stats and i believe i might have misspoke, the Humber IV has a 37mm gun, not Autocannon. I completely missed the bit of text where it says manpacked guns etc cant move and shoot, it makes sense that they cant so cheers for pointing it out. Cheers . 👍
Very nice battle report and great looking forces and table! I've heard of Rapid Fire Reloaded but never checked it out. Is this battalion or brigade scale? So is each figure/stand a platoon (or equivalent, i.e. one tank = a squadron) then? I noticed some infantry figures were individually based and some were based with multiples, is that just a preference?
Each company is 8 figures, it's quite abstracted. Each vehicle represents a troop or platoon. So 3 tanks would be a squadron. I've recently been experimenting using flames of war based figures, where each base of 4-5 men is a platoon. So 3 or 4 bases per company d3pending on the nation/ theatre .
Hi there, yes it’s just a small 4x3. Once my garage isn’t freezing I can get some bigger games in! But it works on a small table, I just tried to clutter it with terrain, I’m glad you enjoyed the vid, I’ll be doing a follow on battle hopefully soon.
I’m new to the hobby… more making my own rules and creating my own board game, using fantasy minis… But am interested to know how to play solo….. So there’s essentially fog of war??
It's not something I do really. This was played out during lockdown, I tried to add a bit of randomness to the game, but really I wanted to test out how the game played. There are several books and channels on the subject, I know that Alex from storm of steel often posts solo games, so he may be able to point you in the right direction. Sorry I can't be of more help. Stig.

Me too. I really like rapid fire, and reloaded is a fast play version of a fast play ruleset!

Yeah, he passed the hero test. A very lucky shot indeed, though the panther was foolhardy charging down the road.....

The minis are just based in 3’s 2’s and1’s and can be used for anything really.
