Biblical figure Ruth is a widow who stays with her husband's mother after losing her spouse. The Book of Ruth, which is a component of the biblical canon known as Ketuvim, or Writings, tells the narrative. Jewish people commemorate Ruth's life during Shavuot, also known as the Feast of Weeks, which falls 50 days following Passover.
According to the Book of Ruth, Judeans named Elimelech and Naomi moved to Moab to escape a famine in Judah, and two Moabite women named Ruth and Orpah married two of their sons. All three women's husbands pass away, and Naomi intends to go back to her hometown of Bethlehem while pleading with her daughters-in-law to visit their relatives. Orpah does as she is instructed, but Ruth says (Ruth 1:16-17), "Where you go, I will go;
