    •  5 років тому +68

@@pink_magical_girl Grownish is boring for the exact same reasons that the first season of A Different World was boring. Yara Shahidi is not a good actress and neither was Lisa Bonet. Grownish should have waited a few years and then did the show with the actor that plays the oldest son on Blackish. He could've been great as the fish out of water bi-racial kid at predominately black Howard University. Yara was ok as one of the kids on Blackish, but she is the least talented of the child actors on the show, but they have decided to promote her acting career despite the fact that she lacks acting talent or charisma. She also recently headlined a flop movie (The Sun is also a Color), as Bonet did with Angel Heart. The movie was made on a low budget, but still didn't manage to make back it's production costs. Lisa Bonet was painful to watch as she struggled through her character on the Cosby Show and Different World, which may be the reason why she didn't have much of an acting career after she left the shows. Without Cosby, it's doubtful if Bonet would've had a career in acting at all. Marsai Martin, who plays little sister, Diane on Grownish, is the real talent on the show, and she has executive produced and starred in Little, which did made a good profit at the boxoffice, yet she has been ignored on Blackish.

It’s was an amazing show especially in the 90’s. Lisa has so much of individuality that you couldn’t box 📦 her in. Bill Cosby was everyone American dad that most black American families strives to model. Bill and Martin seemed to do the same thing because Tisha Campbell said Martin use to control her. It got to the point where even fellow cast members began to complain about her behavior and work ethic. Her getting pregnant I feel was more of the straw that broke the camel's back. There were many many images of young black boys and girls who make life altering bad decisions and have to struggle just to make things meet.
He wanted his show to be positive to all black kids that it's possible to avoid those situations.
If he shows his young daughter being pregnant, then those young girls have that mindset of "well, it happened to them, I can make it too"

Great video, I hate to be the one to say this but I’ve noticed that TOO MANY sitcoms back in the day had a dark skin successful man as the main character and their leading lady is ALWAYS light skin.
    Martin
    A different world
    Sister sister
    Fresh prince (with the replacement)
    Proud family
    The Steve Harvey show
    Marlon’s show
And a lot of the main characters who are comedians feel the need to have a dark skim woman to BASH and use all of their negative commentary and distasteful jokes on.
    Once again
    Martin
    Steve Harvey
    Marlon on his new show
    Like I don’t get it
At first I used to think nothing of it and laugh it off even though I’m dark skin but now that I’m an adult colorism is literally all that I see from successful black men whether they’re dark or light.
Granted the Jamie fox show, Moesha, family matters are all shows that were successful with brown skin wives it just seem like the ones that TOOK OFF fit a cookie cutting criteria.
Just my opinion so I wouldn’t mind seeing a reboot but I wanna see more of them complimenting us.
I get it they discuss real issues but the struggle to be a darker tone black woman is also a major issue and we need more successful black men to support us and speak out about it .
    Again, THIS IS MY OPINION
Edit to add: and it’s the same thing with shows that call themselves shedding light on mixed kids’ experience growing up. Feeling like they’re not black enough for black ppl and not white enough for white ppl
But they literally ONLY SHOW the negativity they experience from DARK or black ppl
They never show how they’re treated by white people.
Like the show mixedISH & the new show family reunion. The light skin daughter was IMMEDIATELY bullied by a group of dark skin females. The proud family the gross sisters are a group of black females darker than any other person on the show and they’re negative and bullies I’m sick of it
