I don't know. I'm intrigued by it but not really excited. That probably because of the hundred other fail video game movies. I'll be excited if I hear its good, Though I don't know if I could ever get past how the Pokemon look. But oh well. No hate towards the people who do like it but I just don't.

Why can I see this?
Personally I really like the real life designs. I agree that some of them like Psyduck and Greninja looked a little odd, but other than that I think they were really well made for video game movies. Especially Mr. Mime.
And about Ryan Renolds, I'm fine with it. I can see how it doesn't fit to a lot of people, and it definitely is unexpected for a Pikachu, but I don't really think about it too much. I kinda like the weirdness of it because it shows just how different Pokemon actually sound if you could understand them. I dunno, maybe that's just me, but I'm really excited for this one. I have a good feeling about it.
I now need a Johnny Bravo movie.
I'm looking forward to it nonetheless
Well, they are Pocket MONSTERS. The definition of monster is "something strange and out of place", which is what Pokemon would be like in the real world, at least our real world. Personally I think they look fine, they look just like they do in the games, anime, and official art, they're just more, well, realistic. Pikachu's a furry mouse, Greninja's a sleek shiny man-frog, Charizard's a scaly dragon, Psyduck's a feathered duck, and Mr. Mime's a creepy mime. Also the movie is based on the game Detective Pikachu, and very faithfully at that, right down to DP being able to speak English to Tim but no other human can understand him.

From this trailer I'm actually excited for the movie, for such a rediculus idea it really seems not so unlikable and Pokemon models look really cool in my opinion

They still have half a year until the movie comes out. They might improve some of the cgi.
I genuinely thought it was a hoax at first. As to how I feel about it, I don't know. It could turn out great, or be a massive dumpster fire.

Never thought I'd see anyone excited for a live-action film to an anime. But, I don't blame you, Ryan. That mime is creepy! Yet, I would still take this than that new "Dumbo" film *shudders*.
I'm very on the fence about this movie. On the one hand, it could turn out to be pretty good, & hold up well, on the other, it could be an absolute mess like many other video game movie adaptations. I guess we'll just have to hold our butts until it comes out & then make our judgements at that gate.
I agree that a some of the Pokemon don't look very good- Pikachu is probably the best looking out of all of them, I'd say. It's like in some instances, they didn't commit enough to making them look realistic or cartoony, so you end up with one of those hyper-realistic drawings of Pokemon that give you nightmares weeks later. They don't feel like they really fit in the world enough; I can tell right off the bat that it's a bunch of CG creatures added in, instead of comfortably believing that they're part of the world around them. CG can be done really well, but if it isn't, it sticks out like a sore thumb. Like I said, Pikachu looks pretty good, but he's the big star of the attraction, so it makes sense they'd really fixate on making him look great.
Ryan Reynolds, though, I feel wasn't the best choice for voice actor. His voice doesn't fit the character quite right, whether for a serious effect or for a more comedic effect in this instance. For an example, Danny DeVito might have been hilarious _because_ his voice doesn't fit Pikachu at all, it's so absurd that it flips it around & makes it enjoyable in a comedic sense. If they went for a voice actor who really was in character, I'd imagine it might be more like EileMonty's Pikachu voice. (She did a dub of the trailer on her channel here: ua-cam.com/video/L9t_rVLEcJY/v-deo.html ) She did a really good job on it, making him sound like Pikachu, just speaking in full sentences instead of his usual cry.
All this is just my thoughts on it, but I am going to keep an eye out for reviews & discussions when it comes out. I'd like to give it a good old college try, & hopefully it will be better than we expected-but I won't count the Pokemon Eggs before they hatch.

I mean... Psyduck was a weird pokemon. It's a "thousand yard stare" duck. Just ... staring you down... it was always creepy in a way.
Also, i love how expressive Mr. Mime is. Yeah, he looks odd, but how else would you do it?
I`d rather have Ryan who actually fits the role. And Danny was asked but he declined.
Danny's reaction when a fan asked him to be the voice was "THE FUCK IS A POKEYMAN?!".
No reason why they couldn't have made a Pokemon film that took place during the first generation or whatever. You know with ash and shit
We already have 20 movies of that, along with 18 years of the anime. The first live-action Pokemon film needed to be something different, and adapting the Detective Pikachu game was a smart choice.

Wow out of everybody I talked to about this movie and all the reactions I saw on UA-cam about this trailer you're the first person that I saw who actually hated this trailer and thinks the CGI is horrible. The majority thinks most of the Pokemon are cute and Charizard is terrifying! Lol
