The 'Canvas bags' song was a Tim Minchin song that he had performed on the same stage earlier that night, 'Birdplane' is there own, and they finished wonderfully with Missy Higgins song.
Yes, you always have to point out Tim Minchin. His "works" are all just pure gold ^^. Though it should be noted that it's always important to watch the whole thing. Many pieces have a quite long introduction but which is essential to the song.
Can I tell you guys that I love this channel you and Lucy are such amazing people and I hope you keep on doing what you are doing and keep being amazing
As my mother used to say, we basically have only seven notes to work with. Everything else is just octaves of those seven notes, so it's amazing that, over the centuries, we've come up with so many combinations. It's actually pretty rare that someone comes up with an identical or even similar phrase accidentally, though it does happen. Trivia: Mozart borrowed a theme from Handel's 'Entrance of the Queen of Sheba' and used it in his opera 'The Magic Flute', when the Three Ladies are describing the Three Boys who are to guide Tamino and Papageno on their journey (the melody that begins 'Drei Knabchen, jung, schoen, holt, und weise...') Not all the songs AofA quoted were written in the key they used, but the sequence of chords holds true whatever the key. There are also different sequences, but they are too used over and over again.
You guys are great!😂 My husband and I are older and it's awesome to see people more like us, doing cool things. Just subscribed. Try a vid covering Axis of Awesome doing The Holy Trinity. NO ONE HAS DONE IT! That I can find anyway😊
Look at Pachel Bell rant same principle. So if you want a hit why not go the road most traveled. You can change the order as well and come up with a different song but the same 4 cords.
reminds me of the posts you see online & sometimes through social media where you will see a McDonalds logo & underneath the words "can i borrow your idea? thanks" & then an image similar to the logo but with a slight change or alteration in the other
Actually,if they completed all the songs fully you would discover that the songs do not hold up to scrutany ,they just found places in those songs that are in the same cords , but if they went further in them then that would change.
The chord progression didn’t start with Journey. For fucks sake, Let It Be was in there. The progression goes back to blues, country, and folk. It’s awesome to know how to play most songs that way, but when you finally do it becomes a curse because you will always be noticing it in nearly every damn song. Zzzzzzz……
@SlckJwdBtnk Goes back much farther than that! At least to Pachelbel's Canon in D. In fact, look up Rob P's "Pachelbel Rant" .. which was the first "4 chord" commentary I heard on YT
The I, IV, V, Vi chord progression is the most popular in pop songs as they are the most pleasing to the human ear. This is because the ratios between the frequencies created by the vibrations for each pitch are the most consonant to the human ear (based on the vibration frequencies of the tympanic membrane). In other words we like the sounds of these chords most 😂
Thanks to the video from Axis of Awesome, Ed Sheeran won in the USA his copyrights trial...

They've done multiple versions of this using different combinations of songs, it's a classic much like the Pachelbel Rant video of yesteryear.

the chords are probably the catchiest, therefore they sell more music that way...
