The entire Queen street is dead now. They killed it. It has no vibe or aesthetic or culture or anything. You can get a cold, sterile uninviting shoebox condo for a million dollars now though. Yay.
@robmausser don't blame condos for that, though. People need to be able to live downtown, and this city has sprawled for way too long. The gentrification isn't great though, no.
One of my coolest memories from my 20s was waiting in line for George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight at CBC and George walking up behind everyone in the crowd line, shaking hands and thanking us for attending a taping.
Hell yeah! While my music knowledge is nowhere near where it should be, I've always loved you interviews. Dare I say it, I think you are one of the most important interviewers in modern Canadian history. You have my attention sir!
this man on much loud and the punk show got me introduced to so many of my favorite bands that i still love to this day, talk about one of the most influential people in canadian music without being in a band what a legend you are george
I love the idea. I'm from central California where this was going on with local band and also in Phoenix AZ at a place called the Nile. I seen bands from LA and even Brazil there. This is the answer to ticket master and breathing life back into the artistic space. Keep it up
Much Music and CHUM! Loved the truck sticking out of the side of the building but mostly what went on in that amazing building. MAN!!! I MISS those days! So much creativity... so much!!
Hey George, thanks for doing this. One of my favourite memories as a kid was taking a bus on a school trip into Toronto to visit the Much Music studio. I distinctly remember that you took the time to time to hang out with us and just chat. I'm sure that other people had similar experience with you and your co-workers, and I'm glad to hear that you're keeping that alive.
I do remember you Mr.Strombolopolous (spelling) on Much Music when I was a kid and what you're talking about was the very cool sh*t I grew up on. Much Music was legit way cooler than Mtv bc there was nothing corporate about it. Good musoc, good people straight from the street. I recall speakers corner which I loved too. Only just in Oct 24 did I get the chance to visit the much music building. Where I wished I one day could be on Electric Circus! And who was outside that day? My childhood hero Monica Deol I couldn't believe my luck. She was kind and took a pic w/me but George. You are talking about those times that Canadian kids loved. Seeing their fav bands in an authentic way. Thank you for bringing up those very awesome memories.
I’m so happy you no longer have that dining table you never used and replaced with your turntable and live concerts! That’s not crazy-that’s genius-and I’m ever so grateful to you, your phenomenal crew, all the stellar performers and staff who have made these precious moments + memories possible. Much love + Happy 2025 to the Strombo & Friends Fam! Cheers ❤🎉
Strombo, you are the best interviewer in the business. I got into broadcasting in 2003 because of you, and in 2023, I started a podcast because I still had the itch. I’ve had the chance to meet incredible people, including Oliver George from Ottawa whose show I came across when you did it. I’d love to have you on the show one day, be well.
I met you at the Burlington Sound of Music festival many years ago and think this is a great idea! Keep up the Canadian tradition of being a small tight-knit community even though we’re in a big ass country!
I found you through the Black Mountain performance on your channel. One of the greatest bands ever. The Kills show was epic too. Thanks for doing what you do.
Hey George, I’m not sure if you read these comments or not but I just wanted to say that Some of my best times were as a teenager being home on Saturday nights with friends watching “The Punk Show” and “Loud”. Those 2 shows exposed me to so many great bands that I still listen to, love, and cherish today. You shaped mine, and so many other people’s musical identities and DNAs. Thank you for doing what you did for all of us and what you continue to do for all of us.
Keep on George! Your house is more of a studio, the live recordings that have been made there are excellent. I hope more performances are still to come. Thank you.
George, you and I had a great conversation at the Rhino many years ago. I had one of their amazing winter ales as you a zero percent Becks. As you do. Sir, at the height of your career, you were just the kind person I had come to know on TV. Around that time I had the pleasure of having a drink with Emily Haines at Deor's on the Danforth. Toronto is a wonderful place to live.
I attended the Emily Hanes show at your house and it absolutely blew my mind - it took me months to properly process it. I'm so grateful to have been a part of that, I love sharing you and your content with my friends!
you are incredibly good at what you do sir!! thank you so much, watched you through the years and you always kept it fresh, interesting and your enthusiasm is contagious.. Bravo!!
George, I found you through old interviews with members of Rush and that blew up into following you to your recent interviews and performances in your home. Thank you. Thank you thank you! Thank you. Also, I really want to know about your truck. Looks and sounds classic, like us.
I remember picking up some concert tickets that I had won from CFNY. I think this was when George wa doing L.I.T. (Live in Toronto). He just finished talking an put on a song, walked over to the ticket pick up desk, shook my hand and was genuinely interested in the tickets I was picking up, if I liked the band and if I was actually going to the show. I won a few tickets back then so I don't remember the exact show, but I always went when I won tickets. I liked the he just wanted to know what other people were into back then.
Sounds like a great Idea! May I suggest a guest? One of the most interesting and fast rising new hard rock bands out there today is a group called The Warning. They are a trio of sisters from Monterrey Mexico and the have a pretty interesting backstory. The started by making covers in their basement when they were just children, when viral with a cover of enter Sandman in 2014, and used that as a foundation to work from so that now, 11 years later they are touring around the world bringing their original hard rock music to new fans of all ages.
I could not believe the John Prine show. An absolute magic event and so timely. My number two is cemented in place with Death From Above 1979. I'll have to watch some more and come back with a third, fourth and fifth pics...
George is such a cool guy, met him a couple times. One time I was coming out of a theatre with my friends and he was coming in. I said hi and my friends said it was my birthday so we got a selfie together. Really glad to see you on UA-cam.
The Kills was incredible as was your Robert Plant interview. Ironically my wife interviewed you some 20+ years ago when she worked at house and home mag.
Great little pitch video! Keep it up! PS … could u get iconic Canadian YTV sensation, PJ Phil in for an interview? That dude was wayyyyy ahead of his time.
George…you’re still amazing and have been so for years…look fwd to many more moments spent watching you interview and share with cool people, but none are ever as cool as you! ✌️
Most of us have no way of knowing if MM was cooler than MTV because we weren't allowed to get MTV in this media backwater. When the CRTC finally allowed us another music channel we got MMM - run by the same guy. In a brief fit of annoyance I drilled down and found out that pretty much all cable tv in Canada was run by one guy from - big shocker - downtown Central Canada. It's amazing that all these years later the same orgs are feverishly working to turn Canada into a digital backwater.
I mean, sure. If thats how you want to look at it. But the other side of that argument is that MM likely never exists without the CRTC protections. MTV would have just come in and taken over the whole industry and no Canadian company would have had a chance in hell of competing. They arent perfect and deserve criticism at times but the fact is the canadian content restrictions absolutely exist for a reason and probably do/did more good than harm. just look at the damage american news media (and i use the term news very loosely) has done to canadian politics and society in general. We have imported the insane toxicity and stupidity of america directly into our homes and its slowly destroying our country the same way it has done to the US.
I thought this was from 2000 at first lol, George still looks the same. Made Muchmusic better back in the day and did some of the greatest interviews ever
Hello from NE Tennessee I had one of those 10 foot satellite dishes back in the day and found MuchMusic and yes it was better than MTV and it introduced me to all those great Canadian bands i would have otherwise never known existed. What are you driving George a ElCamino?
I'm always so sad when I walk by the old Much Music spot, it was such a vibrant, cool thing when I was a kid. Love this idea!
The interview with Geddy and Alex…. Magnificent.

Thank you!
I miss your Sunday night radio show so much! Thank you for this channel!
Subscription? Done. You sir are among the best interviewers Canada has ever produced….and we’ve given the world many of the best.

So happy to see this, George! We want those times back so badly, the connection and intimacy, even if it is a bit different in this era.
Much Music and CHUM! Loved the truck sticking out of the side of the building but mostly what went on in that amazing building. MAN!!! I MISS those days! So much creativity... so much!!

the Melvins in your living room was and will always be my favorite.
The John Prine and Gordon Lightfoot show is my favourite.
It was magic for sure.

Way to George!
You are a voice for us Canadian Gen Xers - keep it coming and love ya at every stop.
Hello from Vancouver
Strombo, you are the best interviewer in the business. I got into broadcasting in 2003 because of you, and in 2023, I started a podcast because I still had the itch.
I’ve had the chance to meet incredible people, including Oliver George from Ottawa whose show I came across when you did it.
I’d love to have you on the show one day, be well.
Loved the Cult live episode and the Chris Cornell interview. Great show!
You hold the key George. Thank you for all that you do. 💫
Hanging out with Taggart and Torrens at your place was an unforgettable night. Thanks George!
Dude your show is one of my favorites on this platform, especially your shows with the Melvins and DFA. Dream show to play at

I'd never heard of Lights before I saw her on _House of Strombo,_ but I've been a fan of her work ever since. Thanks, George!
Thank-you, George for some of the best quality media. The Cult was my fav episode.
They were fire!
I love our talks with George. Great hearing this man!
Keep on George! Your house is more of a studio, the live recordings that have been made there are excellent. I hope more performances are still to come. Thank you.

One of the best of the best.
Certainly the best of all time in Canada.

George is such a cool guy, met him a couple times. One time I was coming out of a theatre with my friends and he was coming in. I said hi and my friends said it was my birthday so we got a selfie together. Really glad to see you on UA-cam.
Hi!
George, you were great on the NewMusic and were a wonderful interviewer on the Hour. (CBC were so stupid to cut that show)
I'll watch with interest.
I regularly go back to watch the Melvins play at your place. Such a fantastic, fun time.
Sold me dude. Tuned in and subscribed from the Rock
Bonus points for the El Camino, George!
The Kills was incredible as was your Robert Plant interview. Ironically my wife interviewed you some 20+ years ago when she worked at house and home mag.
Just got here and subbed for the memories, looks like some good stuff to check out.
Come for the music, stay for the molecules.
Keep doing what you're doing Strombo. One of the good guys.

So when are we going to hear you on Sunday night (or any night) on CBC?
Hello from NE Tennessee I had one of those 10 foot satellite dishes back in the day and found MuchMusic and yes it was better than MTV and it introduced me to all those great Canadian bands i would have otherwise never known existed. What are you driving George a ElCamino?
