For those that think the discs are the wrong way round more internet garbage. They are not handed. I've seen it said about the swirls but in reality, it doesn't matter. The only thing that is handed on brake vented discs is the cooling vanes in between the vented discs bud. Not the external patterning. It makes no difference. If the vented discs are swirled, it makes a difference. If they are straight cut, it makes no difference. Its just like when tyre fitters don't line up the dots on the tyers with the tyre valves, certain people say the tyres are not fitted properly. In the real world it makes no difference. Copperslip has been around in the motor trade for decades and I've used it for over 40 years and have never seen anything destroyed by it. All internet hearsay from armchair experts just get repeated in my opinion through my own experience using common sense.
@@retrorestore I see it everytime I put a video up Martin i did the rear brakes on the old Quattro I have here and someone said to me about the flexys and the calipers hanging I was replacing them anyway they didn't know that because I didn't show it in the video if they had watched the video prop they would have heard me say it.😂😂
Great video only one thing, you put disc on the wrong way round the drill holes and grooves are suppose to go other way, the disc you took off was correct way round.
@@retrorestore no problem Martin just thought would point it out in case you hadn't realised, good brake setup have same on mine it's known as the Asbo brake upgrade

Love watching the ST videos. If I can find one as clean as yours, I'm going to buy one. Overall Fords are not bad cars to keep and maintain. I've had my Vauxhall for a number of years and like the Fords, they just keep on going. Great video Mart.. Love to the family....
Fantastic job there Martin, great guide to follow to do your own brakes on your own motor, i do mine myself now after watching some of your videos, saves you a ton of cash if your capable, great video Martin, top job, 👍🏻❤
thank you Martin,an excellent tutorial, back in the day when i was able to tinker with cars those clips were always a pain to do,, ive been a subscriber for a while now but im still catching up from your very early uploads, your certainly a dedicated poster,,💪👍🙏 oh by the way,has anyone mentioned that the discs could be on the wrong way around🤣😂
Great car. I'd like to see you tackle the corrosion. A car like that deserves it and would make good content, especially if you are going to keep it and you think it will increase in value ❤
The disc is on the wrong side?? inside the vented groove some discs are manufactured in a certain way to aid Air flow through the disc. This is a fact, I am not being funny ,just trying to help, still enjoying your chanel martin.
What happened to disc bolted to hub, stripping hub bearing removing bolt to remove the disc, re setting Castle nut pressure on bearings and split pin, all the fun been removed. Thank all the God's above. Took them awhile to get there.
Got love them ford breaks Martin i did a focus st not so long ago. As you say it takes a lot longer when you are filming not going mention the discs tbh it dont make any difference 😂😂.
Hello Martin you said you were going on a trip to Scotland I wonder if you have been and returned yesterday? Was on the M74/M6 southbound and was passed by a ST220…
I wouldn't want you to damage your car trying but if its only on the surface, we might sand it wit 2000 grit wet and dry paper with plenty of soapy water and then it would need buffing up again with a compound and then a polish. Don't attempt if you are unsure as you could burn through the lacquer and then you'll need to have the whole area painted.
Looks like it needs a good run Martin. Poor old Lee with his Corvette, what started the fire? My Escort mk2 set on fire many years ago solenoid shorted, stood and watch it burn, nothing I could do.
Hi its not related to this video, I've got a saab 93 1.9tdi (Z19DTH) A code p033528 c has come up, Is it a crank censor ? Or a cam censor? Where it it positioned on the engine? On the cam under the cambelt cover , by the bottom pully, or on the engine Bell housing (top, side ,bottom)?
Were the new discs NOS ? I noticed that they were not coated ( like they all seem to be these days), and also ,as you pointed out, had surface rusting. Also , I was expecting the internet to crash when you got the tin of copper slip out 😂, surely you know all the things that can be totally destroyed when using the " devils paste"! Makes no difference Matthew. They are not handed. I've seen it said about the swirls but in reality, it doesn't matter.
Also some manufacturers even cast in the disc, L and R for this reason .
@@matthewharmer1656 that is only for the cooling vanes in between the vented discs bud. Not the external patterning. It makes no difference.
Definately on the wrong way round - they will overheat and warp acording to manufacturer

Hi Martin, what size breaker bar do you tend to use? Also have you got a torque wrench you would recommend? Thanks 👍
Depends on the job. I have a 3\8 and a 1\2 one.
