19:10 "fits right over the bowl, no mess, easy cleanup"...five seconds later bits of cabbage are spraying all over the kitchen
Gotta give your pets something to go after so they leave you alone to play with your food
25:13 "I'm just going to give this a little rinse".. drops the grater in the water and clearly picks up a new clean one 😂
On a bummer note, the host of this thing, Mike Levey, died in 2003 at the age of 55. Evidently, he was huge in the infomercial world.
He died young, for sure. It's weird, because I'm a t.v. protester (haven't watched actual t.v. for over 4 years) due to hating the world of advertising, but the guy didn't deserve to die so young. Unless he was secretly a very bad man. Not for me to say.
+noisepuppet Billy Mays was relatively young too, maybe the infomercial circuit life is a vicious cycle? Brimley is like Jagger, nothing can kill him. Also, the brit sounds like meat man from Don't Hug me I'm Scared.
+noisepuppet whoa, didn't know he died. I remember him from my insomnia days (watched a lot of infomercials, Forever Knight, and reruns of The Incredible Hulk and Fantasy Island in those days).
+magnified111 As a marketing major i love NP's poops of commericials. i hate annoying advertising.
I bought this slicer in 1996 and used it till recently. The blade came off else it would have worked for another 5 yrs. Excellent product
This show was on tv all the time and I've watched it countless times. Now it reminded me of my childhood.
I was gifted the Super Slicer when I went to college. (Family member found it in a house that was getting ready to be sold) Three years later, while laughing at the cover of the VHS instructional video, I finally looked it up and came upon this glorious video
10:02 lol he just pushes the squash slice onto the floor and you can hear the splat.
I love how something always gets stuck in the blade and he kinda sneakily have to slide it out thinking no one notice it. I used to watch these commercials all the time as a kid and I loved it. Even though you knew the products would mostly suck it was highly entertaining to watch!
I think a lot of these product demonstrators are essentially stage magicians using sleight of hand to make the products seem to work a lot better than they do
"Do them that way... The vegetables, not the children."
"come on, Charlie"
I remember my parents bought this in 1996, and once they opened the box, everything looked and felt so cheap and plastic, most of the accessories got broken so easily, the slicer wasn't even sharp. I was like 5 years old back then and that was the moment when I learned that if you see a product that has the "as seen on tv" logo on it, it's because you'll get nothing similar to what you saw on TV
I don't really agree, my mom still has hers and it's still very sharp after all these years, in fact there's a text on the box (yes, she even has the original box and VHS video) that states they ditched the German blades in favor of Japanese blades. Feels cheap? Yes it does. Breaks easily? No, it's lasted these 25+ years. So, the moral of the story is that not everything sold through informercials is crap, there's really some outstanding exceptions.
@@manuelsalazar3938 I agree with you. My mom bought super slicer and it is really sharp and now is still working
It is very likely that your parents did not buy it over the phone but in stores where cheap copies made in China were the order of the day. I believe that the legislation in the United States did not punish copies and that is why reproductions made with material from China abounded. dubious quality.
I saw several of those copies at the time in my country and they even copied the stamp "As you saw on TV."
I love how this is supposed to be an instructional video but its more like a anti-buyer's regret video
This looks suitable to be a YTP. I like how the chef keeps calling Mike a lot.
Wooow I am very surprised to know how a commercial TV can make us remember our childhood and familiar recollections ❤
I just bought this for $2 at the St. Vincent, VHS included (but no vhs player)! Thanks for the upload.
Been looking for this demonstration. Still have the super slicer, it’s super nice. A must try! High quality slicers
Brings back some fond memories at the NY State Fair watching the food processing demonstrator's and their wares.
This would take you hours!
I still have this tape!! I watched it all the time when I was a kid! I always acted like Charlie, the tape is ruined by me watching it all the time. Lmao
i transfered my tape to dav before it was ruined bought my super slicer in 95.
Back then, people knew kale was for surrounding food with and not for eating
Man! I really want just the background music from 0:15 to 0:36 to be my ringtone. So delightfully 90s lol
I stumbled on this video, and thought the same thing! I created a ringtone from samples in the video without voiceover and tried to match beat/flow as best I could. .M4R download is here: ufile.io/7ppvna9t (link will be active for 30 days)
I came here because I found this amazing machine neglected in my mother's kitchen. I remembered when I was kid, my mother bought it, at that time we did not know how to use all of the techniques. Now we know everything, so let's play with this amazing super slicer.
This is coming out of the back of the cabinet. I bought this slicer from QVC decades ago but the instruction book sucks. This video is the bomb. Off to make some fries. Thanks guys.
I had one of these. Believe it or not it actually worked like they said it would.
I remember getting this VHS tape with my Super Slicer. Loved the infomercial and loved the product.
My mom has this product since 1994 and she never has used it. Now I am 30 years old and I am about to live alone and I am going to take Super Slicer with me
Wow!!!! Cutting vegetables. Who woulda thought we'd live to see the day when people can cut food?
It's perfect every time
+spoot
Right! it's like "yeah we get it, it slices it real good...MOVE ON!"
Also, mike's like "so how do we put this in the safety holder?" put it in anyway you like ok!
Fuck the slicer, where can we get Mike's shirt?
Feels weird knowing people in the comments have been actually using this machine longer than I've been alive.
Yes we have this and we are still using it... And it is working perfectly... It is more than 25 years old...
@33:13 is the coleslaw recipe I have made this for years. Yum 😋
mike levy + british salesman... always a match made in heaven.
I still have it😊
This. was. my. SHIT. back in the day!! I watched almost as much as I watched my cartoons!! That machine was sharp as fuckwit, though!
The chef sounds a little like David Bowie
Why does Mike's shirt look exactly like a crocheted afghan ?
We had this thing and i dont remember ever using it lmao
the dude on the right has the weirdest fucking shirts
If you have any videos about how to use the internet that would be really noice! :)
35 damn minutes of super slicing.
That zucchini demo...
His shirt looks like the blanket on the back of Roseanne’s couch
I actually like the spanish version of this infommercial. The super slicer might have started my infommercial addiction. That or the Ronco rottiserie .
the chef said, you can slice onions for hamburgers and beef burgees...
Great memories. Greatness.
Is this the VHS with Instructions that came in along with the Super Slicer, right? xD
Oh memories! My mom bought this for herself and a second one for my grandma when I was a little kid, I remember how excited she was when she bought it, they barely used it though lol I just recently found it in its box and the VHS had the brand new plastic still on! 😂 I figured out the video would be on UA-cam lol (it was!) so now I can learn how to use it ;D I'll be the one using it now it seems. 😝🔪🥒
It's quite amazing, it's 20 years old but it is like brand new and now I've got 2 good as new 'Super Slicer' sets ;3 haha ;P
Also doubles as a home bris machine ❤
I cant hear anything over Mikes GD shirt
Well, I'm sold
Does anyone have the Amazing Discoveries when Charlie 1st brought the Super Slicer?
The zuchinni looked.. Ehh.. Special... xD
thanks for posting, do you have the original infomercial that this is for I would love to see it as well
Pickled red cabbage?
No we don't.
+The Mac Well, we always have red cabbage, though it's not really pickled in the the sense most people think of when you mention pickling. Basically when it's braised you add vinegar to keep it red, so it's sort of pickled.
Aww ❤
Then came the Kitchen Wizard Plus with Chef Tony
I know Mike Levey pass, I wonder if the chef's still alive.
ليس لها مثيل 😪
I started playing it, looked away for a minute, and 4 minutes had passed. Some kind of time warp going on here.
The announcer at the very beginning sounds like Bob Hilton. Were there any credits on this?
I've watched this a million times on TV, when I bought my kit it didn't come with the instructional video... I felt ripped off :(
The Slicer kisses you, Kiss the Slicer!
We have one of these but ours has a pop out grater. It's an easy to use gadget
Lovely
I thought this was a ytp for ages
where is your location .how much
sort of interesting to notice the flaws and nuisances that would be corrected in more modern videos.
like at the start he turns his back to the camera, things like that. the sound quality is a bit poor probably due to the distance of the mic? and how weird it feels when they explain where they are at the start. "hey we're in my kitchen and with a camera crew". I'm commenting 2 minutes in.
Idk if this is real or not bc i saw something like this on the vhs94 movie
I wonder if Charlie's still alive.
I love how there has to be that one stupid person (representing the customer) agreeing that the product is good in every infomercial.
Cleaning the garage I found this still in the box unused it functions as advertised.
I hav seen this add 22years back......
Hey it's me Mike. I'm so excited to see this flashback vid from my glory days on information commercials. Like my Bill Cosby sweater?
I’m watching an informative video
That shirt tho
how to order
T-1 hour before poop?
Have your own another plate to put food in it and you can taste it different spoon/ fork, not to use your spoon that you used. It’s not Hygienic at all. Be considered for others. Hopefully you do it.
His accent is bugging me and putting me to sleep at the same time
Laughing at the severe copyright notice for what is a glorified advert .. copying and distributing it would have been doing free work for them
My mom gave this to my grandma as a present.
It came with this vhs, my grandma wanted to throw away a lot of the vhs she had but I saw this one and loved the cover.
I kept it and it is now sitting on my desk. I feel a connection with Charlie Mcglade and Mike Levey because they're always looking at me and it feels like they are supporting me.
