John, I may not be around to see the new station in 2046, but I could not help but think that Leo will be around 25 years old? I will miss the “old Japan” Hopefully, I will be around to see this happen!
I know!! I hope I’m around too 🤣 but luckily Tokyo Station will be done, by 2027 so we can enjoy that, the Flame Tower!
I was there several months ago but it's already different. Thanks for the update, John. I won't see the completion of this project. 😮
I first visited Japan and Shinjuku as a teenager in the early 1980s. Since then, I've been a regular visitor and have witnessed many changes. (I also got to experience some of the exciting nightlife back then!)
Nightlife was so different then, it’s definitely unique! Tourism is overtaking everything in this area so it does feel more … international now?
hey John, do you have any update on the Tokyo Expressway redevelopment, where they will turn it into a green corridor? They were going to turn part of an Expressway into an elevated park and it was gonna be called Tokyo Sky Corridor, something like that. It was announced more than a year ago and I was wondering on what the progress on that was. It was a long term project though with its completion something like 2040, like this Shinuku Renovation
I saw that, I’ll check in with various projects at the end of the month and I’m sure to do several streams, videos on the changes. They’re HUGE!
I remember how that Shinjuku skyline used to look like when I 1st moved to Japan in the late 80s. Feels so nostalgic natsukashii to me! Great livestream!!
It’s going to get so tall by the end of the 21st century! But will we having flying cars by then so they can dock there?! 🧐 🛸
@@onlyinjapanGO LOL! Probably!!
Walked through here from the south end just a few months ago, I hadn't been through since 2015! The amount of change boggled my mind, some things still recognised to ground locations but it was very impressive to see so much stuff happening. Embrace the change!
Hello John and hope you and your family is well.
Thank you! My family is doing well ^_^
Thanks for the memory refresh from my 2016 and 2024 visits.
Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
strategic positioning of the gachapon machines ---- beckoning to you while you are bored to death waiting for the bus
So smart!!
Thanks for passing along this information. Now I see why I'm so lost the last time I visited last December. 😅
Interesting! We will be visiting for our sixth trip next month and staying in the Hatagaya area, mostly because of its proximity to Shinjuku Station via the Keio Line, but in a quieter part of town. I know how crazy Shinjuku Station NORMALLY is … so we will see how it looks next month 😂 thanks, John!
the giant hole in the ground seems right. for buildings that size the most time consuming and important part is the foundation. the building itself can rise in just 1 year or so.
Happy Birthday㊗John san🎉
Thanks always great video! Shinjuku used to be my backyard. I was really happy to see that😊
Buonasera,Good evening John and as always thanks for your videos. Honestly, I'm quite shocked, both by the scope of the work, and by the duration of the work! 21 years, by Japanese standards seems really a lot to me! Surely there must be a reason, a plausible explanation! Thanks again. Greetings from Italy
I liked this stream despite that it ended promptly 😎Thank you for sharing that info 🙂👍!!!
The signal seems to just go but I didn’t know … it looked okay for me. I’ll let the prism app team know.
Wow, John we might be retired by completion. Thanks for the update.
The folks running this project definitely need to consider the impact of Moore’s Law and technology development because a 21-year project will absolutely see some fundamental shifts in the way we do things including transportation technology based upon steel rails. I mean shouldn’t they be thinking more about how people will be shopping and eating 21-years from now? Maybe we will have everything delivered by drones, be confined to 15-minutes from our homes, bathed and dressed by robots and be fed by feeding tubes?
Thank you John for interesting video. About the Yodobashi Camera store, is it as big as the one in Akihabara?
I guess there is no snow today...
No snow … where is it?!
15:50 - Not showing king ghidorah???😮💨
Wow till 2046?
It seems like FOREVER in the future, doesn’t it? I always felt like we’d have flying cars by then. Are they planning for that?
Have you been to KoreaTown?
I'll be long dead by 2046.
Even if you're just in your 20s you're not sure if you'll still be alive in 2046..
21 years from now? WTF?
I will not see the completion of this project
Hope you enjoy your time their John and discover new businesses around that area
There is so much to discover with all the new changes, I’m sure to be back soon and all around town. Heading to Tochigi this week for a day trip :)
2046.... I'm sure Tokyo and Shinjuku will be very different by then....will there still be petrol fueled cars? Experts say Japan's population would have drastically decreased by that year. Japan's demographics will also be very interesting...by the way... I first visited Japan in January 2017.. I think it still pretty much looks the same now.
Tokyo’s population is not decreasing 😉 so it’ll be fine.
Weird...the population is in severe decline why saddle the few young people with debt like this?
Because most of this will be used by tourists who are often lost by the maze. It’s crumbling, it needs to be redone and earthquake proofed. The big one is expected in the next 20-30 years so do it now instead of paying billions for cleanup after.
I remember those buildings, Shinjuku its changing so fast😅
So fast! But they need robots to get it down by 2030!
