The thing is Ferg makes trap bangers. They are cool and easy to listen, but don’t bring anything new to rap. In 2011, Rocky came with a completely new style never seen before in mainstream rap. He really was weird at the time. You probably wasn’t listening rap so you can’t see the impact. He made rap go forward and he will be remebered, while Ferg makes very entertaining music but will be forgotten (or remebered as Rocky’s buddy).
@@wowhowbizarre8176 In Lil Uzi Vert's song titled "Sanguine Paradise", Uzi clearly states that he grows from 5'4" to 6'6" simply by standing on his money. If you take this into account, he grows 14 inches. Let’s assume that he’s standing on $100 bills. A $100 dollar bill is 0.0043 inches thick, which means an inch of $100 bills is equal to $23,200. Multiply this by the 14 inches he grew and you get $324,800. You can't balance on just one stack of money, so let's assume he's balancing on 6 stacks. Multiply $324,800 by six and you get $1,948,800. According to Google, Uzi’s net worth is approximately $17,000,000. Take the $1,948,800 that he’s currently standing on and divide that by his net worth of $17,000,000, and you get 0.11463529411, which equals about 11.46%. So, given all this, Lil Uzi Vert is standing on 11.46% of all his money - or $1,948,800 - in Sanguine Paradise.
Takeoff is a lot like 2chainz. Two Atlanta rappers who can put in a really good singular verse on a song almost every time, but can’t possibly carry an album, or sometimes even a full song, 2chainz is better though. I just can’t tolerate him for a full album
Pretty girls like trap music is great. But I understand what you're saying about him being better on features. I feel like rappers try harder when they're featured so they stand out on a banger
See im a huge rocky fan I disagree heavily but I do agree with his sound on testing horrible... then for ferg he mentioned work it wasn't even all that it was more so the features for me
i’m pretty sure everybody thinks that; he sounds so good and original on his sample beats (duragflowz, new age chip skylark, laffy taffy remix) and his new album music just sounds like every other rap song ever.
Gotta disagree with 8. Ferg’s hype factor in his music is definitely better but Rocky’s lyrical ability is so much further ahead, not to mention as an artist he’s way more versatile and he currently has some of the strongest internal rhyming skills in the game. I can see why Ferg can be viewed as better but in terms of pure skill Rocky is miles ahead.
@@toast5338 No, thats not why. Big Sean used to be Top 4 with Drake, Kenny and Cole. When Kendrick bodied Control, it started a downward spiral for Sean. Interviewers kept asking him bout it (mainly Charlamagne) making Sean seem more salty than anything. 2 years later, he released DSP which was really good but he didnt have the features/singlee after to propel him upwards like Kenny, Drake or Cole. Sean then started producing poppy songs and being known more for his relationships than his talent in rapping. 'No More Interviews' came out in 2016 and it looked like it vould be the start of his rise. During his 'I decided' press tour, Charlamagne brought back up the Control verse which kinda made Sean look salty again. 'I decided' is a good album but it isnt the GKMC, TPAB or 2014 FHD Kendrick and Cole had and not having the success Drake had while ppl like Chance, Childish, Asap and other rose pushed him down the pecking order. It didnt help that Kendrick bodied him with warning shots on The Heart Part IV and everyone took 'little bitch' on Humble as shots to him. He replied with bars on 'On Everything' that were so lacklustre that everuone saw it as him taling the L through the whole beef. Sean doesnt have the fanbase or respect thst the big 3 do to sell albums or overwrite his Ls. Hes still good but was unlucky that Kendrick jumped on his track I guess😂 couldve been someone else that got bodied
@@alexgrisch3004 Ferg needs features to make classics tho., and Plain Jane is just a generic trap banger like everything else released between 2017-18. Rocky is way more creative and diverse in his artistry. L$D alone just proves this, a hit song with no rapping at all when he came up as a solid rapper.
10. They both trash but playboi carti is better 9. The kill edward was a good idea but the delivery was off 8. Asap ferg and asap rocky are both good in their own ways 7. Ice cube is top 90s rapper man destroyed an entire groups carrer with no vaseline 6. Big sean is extremely underrated but this is probably because people just listen to his mainstream shit and base their opinion on that (top 10) 5. Offsett is the best hands down 4. Damn was good but not great 3. Ski hasnt been the same since x's passing 2. Agree completely 1. Hip Hop now is better than 90s hip hop in my opinion but u got to respect the og's and lyricism is still heavily loved
Totally agree with the take on Kendrick's DAMN album being his "worst". Not a bad album at all, but for me TPAB is one of my favorite and greatest albums of all time, so it may have been almost impossible for him to come close to or top it for me.
TPAB is one of the best pieces of music period, but it has no replay value, where in the earth do I want to hear this album? When I’m at work? Fuck no, in a car? There’s a couple songs, when I’m cleaning the house ? About the only time. DAMN has the most replay value out of all his album, it bumps in the whip, it sounds good as background music when I’m working and need some shit to get me in the zone, it plays well when I’m cleaning the house, plus it has Fear which is Kendrick’s greatest song he ever written.
10. Understandable, as a big Carti fan, i honestly listen to Self Titled 9. Since when was this unpopular💀Kill Edward is ass my guy 8. Delet dis 7. Respectable, Big L is definitely up there, would probably have more recognition if he didn't pass 6. Big Sean has been corny from the beginning, but at least he was decent. These days, he's just lazy, non-essential and not fun to listen to 5. Takeoff was underrated, but at this point he's been called underrated so much, hes fairly rated at this point 4. LMAO i love DAMN, but the only album that it's on a similar level of quality with is Section.80, which i still prefer to DAMN. 3. Can't say, i respect him but he really just doesn't interest me 2. Wolf is amazing, but NAH CHIEF, Jake from Amino wouldn't approve 1. 10000% agree.
I literally agree with everything you said except for the fact that i think he didn't get an L for #8, I definitely prefer asap ferg over rocky, both are good but I don't get rockys music anywhere as much as fergs.
I liked The Book of Eli, Stokeley was fairly good, and Youwillregret is a good project. Wolf also is a pretty good album and so is Flower Boy. Also modern hip-hop is pretty dope.
I respect your opinion man but here are mine -KiLL Edwards vocals are amazing and is the reason I love KOD -A$AP Rocky>A$AP Ferg -Damn>Section .80 -The cutoff is the best song on KOD -Born sinner is overrated -4 your eyez only is hands down one of j.Coles best projects -This is the one 99% will disagree with but Revival was not terrible don't get me wrong it was not great but it was not as bad as everyone says Comment your opinions
trxnch clancy PREACH IT, it tells a beautiful narrative that most albums don't come close to and don't even get me started about "For whom the bell tolls"
Unpopular Opinion: Frank Oceans fans creating this godly aura around him doesn’t equal the quality of music. Stripped away, he’s definitely not a BAD artist, but i don’t understand the phenom hype around him.
It’s because r&b singers usually don’t do anything controversial and their music is good for getting pussy, so noone hates them. That’s why the weeknd and james blake are looked at the same way
Nils Nordström that’s not really true. The “new school” technically is everything after around 86 or 87, so the people who listened during the 90’s were in the new school. However, by what you’re referring to, Eminem and Jay Z came up in the 90’s, and while most new listeners don’t keep them on repeat, just bout everyone pays attention when they release something. Everyone knows The Next Episode and many other classic rap songs from the 90’s, and while they’re not on constant loop in people’s playlists neither are Biggie and Pac
Dystress Me, u and all other hip hop heads have moved on from the new school movement that started back in the days with rappers such as Ll cool j. This is why i don’t refer to LL cool j as being a new school rapper, so when I refer to ”new school heads”, i refer to ppl who listens to rappers such as J Cole. Most of these people prefer J Cole and Drake, over Tupac and Biggie. I should’ve made it clear, that most of these people also don’t listen to ”older” rappers such as Tupac in a slavish way. But still, if they had the opportunity to choose to listen to any of the very few ”older” rappers they know of, it would 90% be either 2Pac, Biggie, Eminem or NWA (maybe Jay Z, Nas etc). They completely ignore the work that rappers such as GZA, PMD, Cormega, Tragedy Khadafi, the DOC, Treach etc. has produced, because no one has inspired them to listen to those rappers.
Theyre mad overrated by the mainstream (tupac and biggie isnt even top 20, biggie>tupac) they are good but not god level. People only say that because they died and influence doesnt matter when talking about quality
I mean, I listen to what ever came out. Barely listen to Biggie or Pac. From Three 6 Mafia to J Dilla to Dr Dre, if it’s from the 90’s and it’s hard asf, then I’m vibin to it
Your #1 pick is the same topic I chose to write about in the Amino competition I won back in June of last year, I even wrote about it as my Persuasive essay for my higher english portfolio. Keep up the great content my G, still reppin' the Scot bois, been here since 2016. Proud of you! :)
agree a lot on most of them but especially #1. hip-hop is more versatile and creative than it ever was. instrumentals weren't terrible back then, but honestly they all sounded the same, even worse than "2008 Lil Wayne hits". I appreciate how rappers went from spitting bars on okay beats (with some innovative old beats here and there, like Biggie's I Got a Story To Tell) to not really stop focusing on lyrics, but putting more effort into experimenting new sounds.
honestly, i like bastard more than wolf and flower boy. i enjoy the nice flows, experimentation, the raw emotion, and how risky it was considering how dark it gets.
I 100% agree with the Big Sean opinion his earlier albums were forgettable but his last 2 were a whole other level from his first 2 I didn’t like him in the beginning but when I heard the Detroit mixtape, Dark sky paradise, and I decided completely changed my mind on Sean he’s pretty underrated 💯
Nah, I also like Ski better honestly, at least as a rapper. He's not as versatile as he doesn't really sing, but can't get enough of some of his fast flows on certain songs.
Although i don't always love ferg, i think he's way better then Rocky. "Testing" only had around 4 tracks i really liked and the rest i just thought were boring. But i respect your opinion. I did like LOVE.LIVE.ASAP
MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Flavor Flav. There were wack rappers in the past. Its just how they were shunned by everyone compared to today where you have hacks like Bhad Babie and Matt Ox who can get attention easily. Honestly old heads need to realize there do exist lyrical rappers today just not in the mainstream. They pretend rap died a long time ago.
@@bigbruno2232 yes! They say rap died because there is not enough lyricism in the mainstream, but if Thats the case rap was dead all along because most of it isn't lyrical.
@@bucurestibeats475 MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice weren’t respectable artists though. The hip hop community thought of them as pop artists who rapped instead of sang. Rappers were always making dis lyrics/tracks about them.
MissingNø. 6:6:6 yeah definitely, I don’t hate ferg or anything, but if I want more substance in what I’m listening to I’m gonna listen to Rocky for sure
#1 is so true. Hip-Hop today compared to 90s is the same in almost every: the themes, lyrics and story telling but just elements of every other genre have came in and increased the variety of Rap. But that has also led to a bunch of separation within the entire community and it's kinda sad because today, it seems like the fans are the ones killing the game by trying to control the artists and always demanding a specific way something should sound.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who really likes big sean, people don't give him props, so what if he has a few corny lines? The dude has been improving so much, you can really tell he's trying.
yeah, hip-hop is better nowadays because we have guys like Denzel Curry, J.I.D., Joey Bada$$, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Vince Staples, A$AP Rocky, Tyler The Creator, A$AP Ferg, Big Sean, etc. None of those guys would have made it in the 90s because of their style, besides Joey Bada$$, Kendrick, and Cole. The others have different styles that wouldn’t be enjoyable if you aren’t into different types of music. Like, I love rappers like Offset, Lil Uzi Vert, and Ski Mask The Slump God, and then I could go turn up to some Action Bronson, Brockhampton, Biggie, and Pac. After I’m done with that music, i listen to Denzel Curry (best new school artist imo), J.I.D, and 6ix9ine. All different styles of rap. I know that 6ix isn’t anywhere close to Denzel or J.I.D lyrically, but he gets me hype the same way they do. Denzel and J.I.D are like hype lyricists, and 6ix is just a hype rapper rapping about committing crimes and shit.
Nils Nordström I do listen to other old school rappers. Slick Rick, Ice Cube, Big Pun, Eazy-E, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Sugarhill Gang, Too Short, Big L, and others. I listen to all types of rap
Unpopular opinion: e40 doesn’t get the recognition he deserves and he deserves to be in the conversation about the best rappers from the 90s and the 2000s, his voice and flow is one of a kind and he’s truly one of the most unique rappers I’ve ever listened to and tell me when to go is one of my favourite rap songs from the 2000s.
@@shapeshiftonme5063 bro what? It barely gets credit from people from what I hear. People occasionally listen to it and say it bumps but that's about it. I think it's a great album for Ski, but I can see him putting out something better. But that doesn't take away from the greatness and enjoyment of Stokeley. Solid dynamic experience, fun flows from Ski, and the instrumentals were all pretty good if not great
In my opinion, Stokeley was an amazing album I still re-visit. He played with different sounds and really left me coming back. I can understand why you might not enjoy it as much, but I just love the sound, the way he switched it up to me was incredible.
Kristopher Amadeus NF can sing, Eminem can’t. NF makes pop music. Eminem doesn’t. NF uses cinema like beats. Eminem doesn’t. How are they the same? You sound stupid
Kristopher Amadeus Where are all the ways that they are similar?!? Lmao, give me a song where he sounds like Eminem. That’s why I love you NF haters. You don’t even know what song they sound similar on. 😂
here’s a weird one that i don’t know if it’s unpopular: h2o is the best ski mask and xxxtentacion collab. most other ones don’t do it for me, especially with the really bassy beats, like rip roach, fuxk, and take a step back (in fact, ski absolutely ruins all of these). what in xxxtarnation was ok, but kinda got boring when ski came on the track until he started flowing. freddie and jason is pretty good, but was the same style the whole track. but h2o? many different styles, x and ski being on the same note (which isn’t really common), a good beat, and x’s flow, makes this song insane.
I feel like flowerboy and WOLF are equal My personal favorites in Wolf are Awkward, Colossus, Answer, 48, IFHY, Pigs, Rusty, and Tamale While Flowerboy has Foreword, See you again, Who Dat Boy, Garden Shed, Boredom, 911/Mr Lonely, November They are both amazing
Bro Big L is soooo fire man Lifestlyez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous is such a good album 🔥🔥🔥 and his song with Big Daddy Kane called Platinum Plus is so good and Deadly Combination ft 2Pac is so good as well 💪🏽💪🏽. He’s so underrated man
Except the Asap Rocky one i actually either agree heavily with you or I definitely get why you would think that way (like I said exceot that asap rocky one)
Honestly, I enjoy Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, and Scarface more than I do Biggie, Pac, Nas. I couldn't agree more with number 1, when people tell me that modern hip hop is not good, I can basically conclude that they're not actually looking for good music and are just listening passively to what's popular. One of my friends in high school use to tell me that all the time, was the biggest Tupac fan ever but literally one time I saw him in Ross and he told me he was going to a Nav concert...
@@ReviewPimpUSA there are more trash artists then good ones nowadays because kids think they can follow peoples waves or have a gimmic without actually rapping good to get famous
I can agree with CDTV with the last opinion. Yes modern rap wouldnt be where it is without the 90s. But modern rap gave what the 90s gave them and expanded it and made it better in so much many ways.
The only entertaining member of the Migos who can carry the listener all the way through their album without it being boring is Offset. However, not all Migos songs are boring. It's just they need each other to make it not boring.
Even though I don’t necessarily agree, I can see exactly why that will be the case for most people. Rocky is undeniably better artistically, but he’s just never drawn me in for some reason.
@@egoleo6693 Even then rocky has some great flows than overshadow ferg sometimes (eg: East Coast Remix), ferg usually has more energy than rocky though, I'll give him that
A few of my unpopular opinions 1. Emo rap doesn't romanticize mental illnesses 2. Night Lovell is boring 3. Yung Lean's natural voice with his strong Swedish accent is really bad. I prefer him on songs with lots of auto tune or distortion
xxxtentacion is both over-hated and overrated. Feel like he had a lot of potential but never could achieve it, however he was still pretty solid in certain aspects. His cult like fan base never really helped. I feel like people like him less because of it.
@@Ouopa. He had the potential in songs like infinity 888,riot, rare pt2, freddy vs jason etc. If his joey badass collaboration alum came out I think he would have been more respected
@@Ouopa. My playlist is on UA-cam feel free to go through it I didn't like X much but saying he couldn't rap is moronic. He had flaws in his rapping but the man could rap.
Instead of Nas, Biggie, Tupac, or Big L, I'd say Big Pun is a damn good 90s rapper. Twinz is a great example of 90s east coast rap as a whole. Take the fame of west coast rap and give it that New York/New Jersey flavor. Pun is lyrical as fuck on it and in my opinion he outshines alot of rappers, even in death. The entire album Capital Punishment embodied rap music in my opinion.

Sean is so incredibly mediocre and meaningless.
Unpopular opinion: New school fans only listen to Biggie and Tupac from the 90’s.
@@nilsnordstrom3603 True, makes you think that a lot of great rappers from this generation who don't do numbers will be forgotten

Like, I love rappers like Offset,
Lil Uzi Vert, and Ski Mask The Slump God, and then I could go turn up to some Action Bronson, Brockhampton, Biggie, and Pac.
I agree! Music is so much more versatile
”Biggie and Pac” you’ve got to listen to other old school rappers before you make a comment like that.

@@Ouopa. My playlist is on UA-cam feel free to go through it I didn't like X much but saying he couldn't rap is moronic. He had flaws in his rapping but the man could rap.
@@amirtaj4323 moronic? X's music is hardly rapping its an akward mix of styles of music which i dislike
@@shapeshiftonme5063 Fair enough you dislike it but he clearly can rap even if he's around average.
Would love to see a old hip hop vs. new hip hop video, even though this is an old one
"Slaps for my droptop minivan" is an EP my guy.
He said "projects", not albums
