    This should have a follow-up interview. Where are they now? How have their perspectives changed?

      We deeply appreciate your support and feedback--so in fact we recently did a follow-up with Filip! You can catch it also here on UA-cam.

      Thank you so much! I hope we can do this too... I'm always curious the thoughts of what's going on in the world of aspiring performers these days.

    I've listened to many of your interviews and have to tell you that I'm gobsmacked at how well you conduct them. You truly bring out your guest musicians and have great questions. But I am astounded at how well you LISTEN and come up with intelligent follow-up questions. You draw them out amazingly well. I've heard people in the media doing interviews and so many of them use the opportunity to self-promote, constantly interrupt and get little from their guests. Some of them are making mega dollars and I scratch my head and ask how is this possible. And the amount of editorializing that goes on throughout the "news" is something I'll never get used to. Oh dear, I must stop there before I go off subject and into a rant. :)
    I am not a musician in ANY sense of the word but I love classical music (most of it) and I'm trying hard to learn more about it so as to enjoy it more. I really do believe that the more I learn about this magical performing art (in a general sense at least), the more enjoyable is my listening experience. Do love your interviews and think you're doing us a great service. Thanks.

    Wait a minute! Don't give Cleveland a bad rap on music. We have numerous orchestras besides the big one, several noted music schools including the Cleveland Institute of Music, which was once led by Ernst Bloch, we are home or former home to noted composers, among them Margaret Brouwer , Eric Ewazen, Adrienne Elisha, the late Dennis Eberhard to name a few. Plus the Youth Orchestra, Women's Orchestra, Apollo's Fire Baroque ensemble, and then there's a whole lot of choral ensembles. Add to that Frank Cohen's ChamberFest which is growing leaps and bounds since its inception 5 years ago. So this is one hopping city!

      And - even though they're no longer around - the Cleveland String Quartet was amazing. Their Beethoven recordings are second-to-none.

    I study classical composition in Austria, and I agree with everything said. Fun that my teacher is saying the same as the ones in New York :) As a composer, you can only develop your own style and the teacher can only show and help you to see what is possible. And they can´t really teach you everything, because you should create your own music. So sometimes, it seems you are on your own. But in a good way.

    This is what I want to do everyday but I haven't had violin lessons since I was 12 but I really wanna get back to it. I wanna do this so bad it kills me when I can't play music

      Did you go back to it? Really just do it, you seem to have the will of expressing something in music in you.

      It is never too late! Even if you choose some slow pieces easier to manage, it will bring you challenge and joy and peace. Good luck!

    The guy in the black shirt, Fernando, does he realize how he is dominating the talking?
    Hogging it??

    2:55 I think that maybe part of the reason my piano teachers were a bit superficial. Like they would rather be off composing instead of teaching this particular local. That’s life.
    Nice kids. I’m kind of grinning at the body language , position from beginning to end. Human nature.

    Is there a way to have other languages subtitles for these videos?

    • @LivingtheClassicalLife
      @LivingtheClassicalLife  3 роки тому

      Thanks for asking, Silvia Cattarinich. We don't know. Have you tried the "closed captions" option under the settings icon, which looks like a gear in the lower right corner of the video? This may only provide an English translation. Please let us know.

      The piano was in a conservatory, probably not tuned in a while :-)
