He coached at a couple of camps I went to in high school, and bros just as animated off the strip. I can’t tell if it was an act or not, but regardless the dude’s a riot to be around. Helluva fencer too haha

Should’ve include more clips of him running into people, yelling at them, and arguing with the ref

Ah Aspromonte, so many antics. That being said he actually was a very decent fencer. Made podium at both 2011 (Silver) and 2013 (Bronze) WCHs respectfully. He's now coaching a number of the next generation of Italian foilists (they themselves doing very well too). Still, highlight reels of Aspromonte's antics are always a good time.

I like to think of him as above decent, man was really a world class fencer He may not have been like Andrea Baldini (who was a goat altogether in his own right) but Aspromonte does deserve to be called one of the best. I just think his problem was the same as race. His mental game isn't the strongest as compared to his teammate Cassara at the time.

@@Flipflopfencingflab Yep, hit the nail on the head. A passionate person for sure but definately not the strongest in terms of mental game. Did you ever watch his bout against Choupenitch some years back? I swear Aspro was about to throw hands at Choup during one part of the bout until Andrea Cipressa reigned him in. XD! It was during one of the International De Paris world cups.
Still though, I love what he's doing since post-retirement. Giving back to the Italian Fencing community and building up the next generation.

@@xDinomanx Yeah, that bout with him fencing Choupenitch was hilarious Thank god Cassara managed to get him back together
I agree, seeing him go back to help with teaching and creating the new generation must be a great thing to have (unlike for France with Le pechoux going to Japan) I really hope we can see him back as a coach one day just not blackcarded as a coach

How could you not include him calling for video on the most cut-and-dry parry riposte in the 2013 worlds semifinal? That was one of the fencing moments of all time!!

No don't worry they called video and switched it to right but I think initially at a first glance Safin was able to play it off as Aspromonte's attacks stop but after video they can see he's still clearly and quite blatantly going forwards 😂😂
