- hospital stay and first 5 doses of tikosyn. after 10 years of afib i tried 2 cardio versions and an catheter ablasion and lots of meds but still couldn’t stay out of afib
so now i’m trying tikosyn. i was afraid to take it but my doctor said it was my best hope. and this is my journey
Good news! I’m happy you’re going home and you’re feeling better.🎉
I’m sorry you have to go through this, but I will pray for you that you get better❤
Keeping you in prayer for sure!
thank you so much
I been suffering with AFib since 2020, I just had Open heart surgery on July 1, 2024 for Subaortic Stenosis, also Aortic Valve Stenosis!! I went back to the hospital due me going into AFib again for the 3rd time since surgery. The last time I went into the hospital was July 13, 2024, the put me on Dofetilite 250mg, it was to strong and I was having shortness of breath really bad, they lowered the dose to 125mg and monitor for five doses and I didn't go into AFib,so they released me today July 18, 2024 . I got home today and started having AFib,but it stopped thank God. I took my night dose, but I'm so nervous, because the can't do an EKG since I'm home. Please pray for me and I will definitely keep you in prayer as well. Thanks so much for sharing your story with us. God bless you and everyone connected to you.
this has been the best thing ive done
Was on Tikosyn since 2016. Worked great until I missed 3 days in row. Afib came back.
I am back in the hospital this week for another reboot of Tikosyn. Blood INR (I.e., blood thickness) wasn’t thin enough and it took a day to get it that fixed.
First dose of Tikosyn was 9PM yesterday. Still in AFIB (but better) at 2AM as I write this. Tomorrow is TBD next steps to adjust Tikosyn dose. It took me three days to dial in Tikosyn the first time.
pray everything works out for you
I started Tikosyn last Wednesday in the hospital for frequent skipped beats, pvc’s & occasional afib.
At first it seemed to work, then once home the skipped beats & afib got worse.
Then I started getting angina so I stopped taking it.
Not perfect but I’m better off without it.
Ablation is on the schedule for early next year.
im so sorry it didnt work for you
@ Me too!
I was really hoping for relief.
I’ll go back on metropolol & I’m hopeful the ablation will be successful. 🤞🏻
Glad the meds are working for you. I too have had afib for about 10 years. Had 3 ablations and have been on the same meds for years. A couple years ago I was going through, what felt like, non stop afib issues. Seemed like I was in ER ever couple months. On a road trip I was admitted to hospital in a rural part of Illinois. The cardiologist came in a said to me "how long are you going to be a fat ass?" Now this blew me away at many levels but it did get me thinking. Is he right is my weight part of the problem? How can I lose weight without being able to do cardio without going into afib as a result? After about 6 months of diet changes which included giving up most carbs I started to drop the weight without exercise. I gave up potatoes, bread and fried foods. I went from 225 lbs and 24% body fat to 165 lbs and 16% body fat. It really helped me get control of my body and life. I just wanted to share this with you and hope the best for you in your journey.
thank you so much i hope you continue to stay healthy
You and I seem to have had a very similar journey. In my case, I have had 7 cardioversions, 2 catheter ablations, a thoracic convergent ablation and mapping and have been on serveral meds including Sotolol. My sotolol drug load was almost identical to your Tikosyn load! I was doing so well about a year and a half after my convergent procedure that my cardiology team thought I should stop the Sotolol. After being off it for about 4 months afib raised it's ugly head again! So I will be admitted this coming Tuesday, April 9th and will load back on the Sotolol. I wish I could have remained off of it because like Tikosyn, it is a dangerous medicine. But we would not have known if we had not tried. I hope your journey with afib is done and that you can remain out of it. Blessings!
i really hope it’s goes good. please keep us updated
Great video, appreciate it. I'm 57 year old man, I've had afib 30 years. I'm in the hospital now. I'll be taking my 2nd dose tikosyn in 2 hours. Still abit nervous. Glad it's worked out for you!
hope everything works out. i’m still doing good
I came off tikosyn, made me very bad. I had a second ablation, and now feeling great!
Thank you for this video. I also struggle with Afib and I am going in for tikosyn in a few days so I am researching as much as I can.
Glad it was helpful!
i am still doing good with it. i hope the best for you
Thanks for sharing your experience. I am going in on April 18 for the same procedure due to a-fib and tachycardia. Glad you ae feeling better.
You can do it!
YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE HOSPITAL TO BE STARTED ON IT. MY HUSBAND WAS DOING OK UNTIL THE THIRD DAY AND THEN THE TORSADES DE POINTES HAPPENED AND HE GAD TO BE TAKEN OFF OF IT.
Im glad it helps. You even look better .Younger.
Thanks Mike!
you are welcome
Congratulations. I’m on it also and having good results
its a game changer for sure
Suppose to go in for this procedure in Jan 2024. I couldn't see due to camera close-up but did you have tubes running into your arm or just the sticky pads on your torso for the EKGs? Also, my doctor said I'll still have to take my blood thinner med (Eloquis). Bummer cause when you hit the donut hole on Medicare, it costs some bucks. Hope everything is still working out for you!
just the ekg stuff and iv on my hand for emergency
so far so good
Sounds good,@@cookingwiththeword5300. I've been in permanent A-fib for a long while so my doctor says this could be a three part procedure. #1 is the tikosyn, then ablation if needed then cardioversion if more assistance needed on those two. Reckon we'll see one way or the other.
How are you doing after all this time. I’m suppose to go in Sept to try the Tykosen.
im doing really good i havent had a problem since
I went on Tikosyn on the third floor this month. I’m in normal rythm
I tried the Tikosyn and after the third dose my heart stopped. No more Tikosyn for me.
How did it go? My dad is getting on it today and I’m concerned of course
everything is still good
