MICK BROWN! Dating my boss at an Italian joint in Folsom back in 88, right after Monsters O Rock in SF, the few days I happen to be in LA meeting my half-brother WILD MICK comes in the back of the kitchen meeting everyone and signing shit and I, one of THE BIGGEST DOKKEN FANS OF ALL TIME, missed meeting him...FFUCKKKKKK!!! Happy retirement brother!!! You are and always will be, one of the all time greats!!
Great interview. I was in hair bands for years as a singer/guitarist, and Dokken was one of my foremost musical influences. In listening to Mick today, it occurs to me that he’s a guy who truly understands and “gets” the concept of seasons in life. He lived through the rock n roll season, did a ton of influential musical art, and now he’s fully enjoying the next season in life. In the words of another great band, “Don’t look back “. You have to respect a guy who lives in the moment and knows who he is and where he should be RIGHT NOW. God Bless..
Mick is such a huge influence for me! I can still remember seeing the in my dreams video when I was 7 years old then my brother bought me Back for The Attack and he has been a favorite ever since! Mick ,Thanks for doing the interview and letting us all know how you’re doing! Lord willing we will get to talk someday! I missed my chance twice.
As a 51 yr old and a teenager during the 80's I can't tell you how many times I watched the "it's not love video" with him set up on the back of an 18 wheeler. So epic, definitely one of my favorites from that era. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, fun and happy. Glad he's enjoying his retirement. He definitely earned it. Thanks for all the great drum tracks and music mick! You'll always be one of my favorite drummers.
I love Mick as a player and a personality. I believe his best work was on the first two Lynch Mob records. Glad he is doing well and is happy. Wild Mick Brown is a musical Icon!
Met Mick and the rest of Lynch Mob back in "91" at the Whisky record release party. Mick was so welcoming and a genuine person! Wild Mick is a great drummer, but a better person! Happy you are happy. Enjoy your retirement!
I'm a guitarist, but I've been following Mick ever since his time with Dokken. The first Lynch Mob record, Wicked Sensation, is one of my all-time favorite records. The entire all kicksass. My favorite drums on that album are what Mick played on "She's So Evil". After that, No Bed of Roses, Wicked Sensation and Street Fighting Man. Mick just never fails to deliver exactly what the songs required! What a great interview. Thanks FYI - Mick, If you're reading this, me and my buddy were the guys that you and Oni kept pointing to in the front row, near George, recording that "In Concert" TV show. You gave me your drum sticks.
One of my favorite drummers and huge influence in my playing!! It’s always cool to meet your idols and they turn out to be the coolest mofo and a nice guy! I met him off the first record of Lynch Mob, I will always cherish that moment 🤘🏽 God Bless Wild Mick!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌 A huge thanks for posting this!!
What a great interview! Good job Sean and Mick...I would definitely love to party with that guy. I'm 52 so I also came into Dokken in the good old years.
Thank you for arranging this! I met Mick just before Wicked Sensation came out, over at the Mason Jar, in Phoenix. I'm a huge Lynch fan and went there to meet him, but ended up talking more with Mick Brown. It's great to hear his perspective and what led to his decision, because all I've heard up to this point was speculation from former band members, etc. Mick's a class act and I'm very glad he's going great. Looking forward to Part Two!
I saw Dokken in Hopewell, Virginia. It was snowing and sleeting. I remember Mick saying, I am not used to this snow. He had such a positive attitude during that concert. He was the life of the party at that concert. Such a great interview!
What a great interview with a great drummer! The best part of this is Mick's positive attitude on everything in life. It truly is infectious! Enjoy retirement Mick!! Loved all your work with Dokken, Lynch Mod and Ted Nugent!
Great to see this interview with Mic Brown! I never knew he was such a crucial part of the song writing in Dokken. His brother has been an amazing drummer in The End Machine and Tesla also. Very talented family.
I saw Mick with Terrible Ted a few years back and he kicked ass! The whole band was amazing… I kind of went there, expecting it to be a dud because it was at my local fairgrounds, but it kicked the crap out of anyone else. I saw that whole year
You did exactly what the Full In Bloom podcaster did to producer Tom Werman: Bring up some personal trait of Ted Nugent, hoping the guest will take the bait & go off. But Mick -- like Tom -- expressed how working w/ Ted was actually an enjoyable & positive experience . You had the opportunity to ask Mick how it ended with platinum-selling Ted, but maybe you didn't care at that point. Some are left wondering. Mick was his longest tenured drummer...11 years! Anyway, good for you, getting this interview. Mick is pretty elusive & reclusive. Long live that classic-era Dokken lineup!
Yeah I noticed that, weird bating way of asking the question. Could have easily been "how was working with Ted" instead of interjecting what some people "think of him"
I didn’t see that podcast, and you couldn’t be more wrong. I don’t do “bait the guest” interviews. I alway ask before hand what they don’t want covered and I never pull a fast one. I appreciate the feedback, as wrong as it is
Im certain Mick is drinking a "mick brown" which is Jim Beam and Coke. I did a tour opening for LMob and we shared a bus and he always had a handle available and was always tending bar for those that drank (I never turned down a Mick Brown). There were times when he served up a "Wild" Mick Brown, and that was 15 ounces of Southern, and a splash of coke! Good dude! Great drummer
listening to mick speak about retirement, you can fully feel how relieved to be done with touring and playing he is. i am very happy for him to enjoy the final years of his life on his terms. having to go full circle, and set up his own gear, break down his own gear...after having been at the pinnacle of playing massive gigs...i don't blame him at all. good for him.
I love Mick's up-tempo positive energy. He always seemed so full of fun and easygoing. Great to have someone like that in the band to break the ice when you've got huge egos butting heads (George and Don).
Dude, I’m almost done watching this interview and how about a mention of my FAV dokken material? One live night acoustic was amazing, Dysfunctional and Shadowlife!
Always loved Mick's playing...so solid and very creative. And I bet Mick loved the Lynch Mob CD...had some seroius R&B things going on...even horns !!! Loved that album!
I love Mick, one of my biggest influences and favorite drummers, great interview...so glad to see he's doing great!!🥁🥁🥁🍺🍺🍺 always be one of my heroes Mick 👊👊👊
Mick Brown retires and changes his name from "WILD" to "Mr." I love the guy! He was instrumental in my early drumming years. I'm still rockin' with Dokken.
It is soon good to see Mick as a drummer myself I grew up listening and learning the Dokken stuff and Finally Got to see them play at Cross Roads in Yucipa Ca and this guy just brought it just like the records flawless on that sonor kit and a few years later at Namm amongst all the Debauchery going on I'm talking to Krigger and he tells me Mick is a comedian as well just way cool glad to see Mick great and happy and thanks for the killer music and drumming dude
Great interview, seems the whole setting up the drums like when he was 14 all over again after having a roadie all those years at 60. After traveling all day and sore from playing his guts out the night before, then actually doing sound check, yeah man I can see how that might do it.
Dokken's Dysfunctional is one of my all-time favorite records. The vocal harmonies and instrumental performances are exquisite. In my opinion, it's probably Mick's finest recorded performance as a drummer. Check it out if you haven't already. I'm going to give it another listen today!
I met Mick when I was a corrections officer at the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor Maine. He was funny as hell and really nice. Apparently the golf carts at the venue weren't free to use 😂
Met Mick n George in the 90s they were shall we say huge rockstars,,two nicest dudes ever,no egos Mick even bum a Marlboro red from me surprised they both smoke don't think ever see Mr Scary picture or video with a cig

I hate to see these guys we all loved...cry and complain about traveling and setting up their own drums. I was still playing at 55 and playing a 9 piece double bass kit with tons of cymbals...AND a huge light show, for local gigs around where I live. I would still be doing it if not for a ear disease that is not related to drumming. I started playing at 3 years old, and joining bands at 17. It was my life...would still be if I could. Just like someone who tries to be famous and when they make it as a actor or whatever...they bitch about the attention.
It's not crying and complaining, it's reality. Dudes lived the rock and roll life for 4 decades, peoples bodies break down over time. It was psychically hurting him to play. You can't blame him for wanting to sit back and relax. I'm surprised thats what you took away from this interview, dude seems like a genuinely good person and happy. You can't comparing local gigs with traveling the world dozens of times over.
Wow after so many years I've learned 2 things and listening to Wild Mick since the 80's before MTV we had DICK CLARK (American Band stand) i recall saying to myself Dokken has got to be the best act to come out of AMERICAN bANDSTAND!! 1 . ONE IS i didn't know that steve was MICKS brother!!!!! and 2 most of my heroes are Liberals Leaning Left!!! Take a good look at that utility bill? look at that fuel price everything is up!!!!!!!! and you guys silent shame Ted?!!!!! huh!!!!! I doubt it it i hit this channel again!

Cause no one wants one of the most prolific drummers ever to retire. Rock on Wild Mick
The way dokken harmonizes it was amazing how don, jeff, and mick did it

underappreciated drummer one of the few drummers you can't help but notice when he plays whether on DOkken or Lynch Mob or T&N.....also could sing.
Is part 2 coming soon?

Dude looks great!
Doesn't he for a man who supposedly drank a lot according to don dokken. He said Mick would be drinking whiskey in the morning for breakfast.
@@martymartin2894 I guess some people have the genetics to handle it. Not me

When they made music it was magical
Man, I love Mick.... Under Lock & Key record still blows me down. Would have love to seen him with Uncle Ted.
Dokken's Dysfunctional is one of my all-time favorite records. The vocal harmonies and instrumental performances are exquisite. In my opinion, it's probably Mick's finest recorded performance as a drummer. Check it out if you haven't already. I'm going to give it another listen today!

Part 2 should be out later today.
@@BarstoolsBandtalk Thank you, great interview!
Just released this morning
Awesome interview!!
My favorite is a tie (Back for the Attack / Under Lock and Key). But the sound quality in Back for the Attack was notably superior.
Wish i could hang out with mick for an hour
Funniest Dokken story ever! seagulls!😝😝🤣🤣
Do you have another interview at the end of this one I thought you said you're going to have another interview with Mick Brown
Part two is on the way

He was great in Nugent's live band.
