Why the velocity and refractive index of both the rays i.e E - ray and O-ray is same along the direction of optic axis? 🤔 And what is actually happening inside the calcite crystal so that the rays (E and O ray)coming out along the direction of optic axis with same velocity and refractive index ? 🤔

It's from solid state physics.. depends completely on the structure of the crystal..
In easy words the crystal is symmetric w.r.t the optic axis so velocities are same along the dirñ
