    Commissioner video
    K Division awards ceremony
    Descriptive text
Inside shot of RCMP Bagpiper in uniform who leads a procession of RCMP regular members into an office building while faint background music and a voiceover of Commissioner Paulson’s address is heard:
Deputy Commissioner Ryan, thank you for the invitation, thank you for organizing this opportunity to recognize the men and women who have done some exceptional things.
Cut to a shot of Commissioner Paulson standing at a podium in front an audience of regular members in red serge and family members, all looking at the Commissioner. Behind the Commissioner is a panel of windows and to his right is an RCMP display. Commissioner continues to speak:
And it gives me an opportunity to come up here and talk to you for a moment about just how proud the organization is of what you’ve done.
Cut to a close up of the Commissioner at the podium from another angle. The Commissioner remains behind the podium, speaking to the crowd. The audience isn’t visible except for a few peaks of some officers’ Stetsons. The Commissioner continues his address:
It’s emotional because it’s special. And who does these kind of things that we heard about this morning? Who goes out . . . It’s going to happen again . . . (Commissioner is visibly moved as he puts his hand up and pauses as he is overcome with emotion)
Fade to a new shot of audience, from behind, as members in Red Serge come to the front of the room salute, receive their award, and pose for photos while the audience applauds. The faint sound of applause is audible while the Commissioner’s speech continues as a voiceover:
Who goes out on an ice flow to save somebody? And who tries to talk somebody who wants to hurt themselves, who does that? Who tries to talk them out of hurting themselves, at their own risk?
Fade back to the close up of the Commissioner standing behind the podium, addressing the crowd:
And who gets into a shootout with people that have lost their way in the world? Who does that? And who goes the extra mile to do the investigations that bring confidence to an ordered and just society?
I’ll tell you who does it, you guys do it.
Fade to another shot of more members in Red Serge coming to the front of the room receiving their awards and saluting while the Commissioner’s voice over continues:
It takes bravery to go out there day in and day out in a world that is changing, and I think we all recognize that it’s changing. And the only thing that stands between those people who would have chaos rain upon our fellow Canadians, is us . . . is you.
Fade back to the close up of the Commissioner, standing behind the podium, addressing the crowd:
And so that’s why it’s particularly special that we take the time to recognize what you’ve done and that’s why it brings out the emotions…
Fade to another shot of more members in Red Serge coming to the front of the room receiving their awards and saluting while the Commissioner’s voice over continues:
Because there’s not too many people besides us, who understand what’s at stake. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your support, family members and friends…
Fade back to the close up of the Commissioner, standing behind the podium, addressing the crowd:
Thank you very much on behalf of the men and women who make up this Force and Canada. (Commissioner gets emotional while thanking the members. He steps back and applauds the officers once he finishes speaking. The crowd’s applause is audible as well)
