If I recall, there is a particularly unfortunate sequence for the trumpets which Kleiber makes clear he's unhappy with (albeit not as bad as his agony during the '94 Staatsoper Rosenkavalier video)
I completely agree-Kleiber’s interpretation truly elevates Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony, showing its brilliance on par with the other symphonies. It’s a masterpiece, both in composition and interpretation, and I’m so glad you’re looking forward to experiencing it in high definition!
Right now, I’m focusing on completing the Beethoven videos and working on a few of my own conducting videos. But I’ll definitely keep the New Year’s concerts in mind for the future!
This is one of those B. symphonies that does not attract the same attention as the 3, 5, 6 or 9 and yet is very beaitifull. Same happens eith 1, 7 and 8
You’re absolutely right! While Beethoven’s 3, 5, 6, and 9 often take the spotlight, symphonies like 1, 2, 4, 7, and 8 are equally beautiful and showcase Beethoven’s genius in unique ways. They deserve more attention for the depth and brilliance they offer.
@MrTann2010 and @joachimakerlind4453 That’s absolutely correct-you can’t block others on UA-cam, so it might just be a technical issue or a misunderstanding. Let’s keep the conversation open and positive!
@@AndreBaumeister Absolutely. About keeping a positive attitude - agree- I try to, but when others have heavy serious problems with that it gets a bit diffucult
Great playing from the orchestra as always - but Kleiber is no more impressive than so manny other conductors. A little bleak even.. sorry all Kleiber fans. To do little as possible as part of making a misty secret reputation doesn’t impresse me
Thank you for sharing your perspective! Kleiber’s style certainly divides opinions-some find his minimalism and mystery captivating, while others feel it’s less engaging. That’s the beauty of music and conducting; there’s room for everyone’s interpretation and preference. For my part, though, I’m a big fan of Kleiber and his unique artistry!
Bernard invited me to sit in the conductor’s box just over the Covent Garden pit to watch Carlos Kleiber conduct Otello. At one point in the first act he leant over to me and, pointing at Kleiber, said “I don’t know about you, but my studies are just beginning!” He impressed Haitink and Rattle, which is probably more important.
Your opinion is not shared by the musicians he worked with at La Scala, Royal Opera, MET, or in Vienna . He was considered to be the De Facto no.1 by many musicians and singers who worked with him. He could get away with cancelling the concerts because he was just that good. Bernstein called him the greatest conductor of all time. Haitink, when watching kleiber rehearse, said that watching kleiber work made him feel that as though his conducting career had just begun, and Haitink was beginning his career after 30 years at the Concertgebouw. Orchestras like the Berlin Philharmonic and the MET sent him invites on a yearly basis and it took them great lengths and pain to get him. Also getting invited to be the BPO music director just after 1 concert because the musicians thought he was extraordinary
@@AndreBaumeister Thank YOU! Yes we have different opinions and that is life- I can see and understand what people ( those who did) liked his style.. but for me it is to much theater
Can’t wait for Beethoven 7! ;-)
If I recall, there is a particularly unfortunate sequence for the trumpets which Kleiber makes clear he's unhappy with (albeit not as bad as his agony during the '94 Staatsoper Rosenkavalier video)
Thank you for your enthusiasm! I’ll be working on Beethoven 7 next week and plan to release it the week after, probably on January 17th. Stay tuned! 😊
@@AndreBaumeister Danke schön, lieber freund, mit viel Anerkennung aus Singapur.
Me too
I've become a born again fan of Kleiber, thanks to these videos. It's like watching interpretive dance : )
Thank you so much for your comment-it truly touches me! I’m so glad these videos have reignited your admiration for Kleiber.
Legendary performance of a legendary conductor. The great Carlos Kleiber.
I couldn’t agree more-Carlos Kleiber’s artistry truly makes this a legendary performance by a legendary conductor.
이 위대한 전설의 지휘자는 외롭게 지휘하다가 먼저 간 그가 항상 못 잊어 하던 부인 곁으로 갔답니다
My favorite Beethoven's symphony and my favorite performance, now in video - thank you!
Thank you so much, I’m thrilled. Enjoy it to the fullest!
Thank you for your work and for posting, Andre Baumeister! Maestro Kleiber liked The Fourth very much and this rendition is very beautiful indeed.
I’m thrilled you enjoyed this rendition 😀
Without a doubt the greatest conductor ever lived.
Carlos Kleiber truly holds a special place in the hearts of many-his artistry and unique approach make him unforgettable.

If you can get his new years concerts posted that would be incredible!
That were a historic performances. Plus his Fledermaus from the Bavarian State Opera, omg, what a masterpiece.

Of course, you are totally right 😅
