One of the biggest reasons I am 100 percent devoted to your channel and have stopped watching most "blue ribbon" trainers is that you always consider the whole horse and never automatically blame any issues you have with them first on their behavior. Horses don't think and reason and plot. They remember and they react. Thank you so much for being you. 73 yo lifelong horsewoman here, and have learned a whole world of excellent information from you.

I am a non horse person but I have been watching Steve Young for a long time. I know that he has to rush during his sessions due to time constraints. I would be very interested in your opinion of his technique. Me and a couple of his other followers used to suggest to a particular rescue about how to use licks to help their farrier. But they really got their back up. The suggest made sense to me, but they didn't even consider it as far as I could see. Also, I've never seen another person use his theories about not wearing sunglasses and only looking at the horse's feet to keep things nonconfrontational. He only works with bad cases so maybe that's why people with only slightly fractious horses don't need to use his techniques? I really am interested in what you think about it. Thank you in advance.

I watch his channel too and like it. I enjoy the way C.C. does her work which is longer in time duration. Steve Young is more emergency work or at an impasse where his work is a catalyst to help and quickly. Woking with horses is as much an art as anything.
I can't imagine how some people think you don't know exactly what you're doing when you're rehabbing these auction horses! But this 67 year old horse woman hasn't seen one misstep. In fact she's learned a hell of a lot by watching your videos!! Well done, CC!🐎💜🐎

I think you made the right choice not to ride him right away. You've built a relationship with him before riding him. You let his body recover. Plus made sure he is healthy. Add to that too let him mentally recover from what had to be traumatic. He moved from a place he knew to an auction then transported to a complete stranger.

I picked up a thrown away neglected small Appaloosa pony at age 20 . After rehab , my girls shown him lightly until he was 28 . He was fearless and could do anything. He was with me until he passed away at 43. I was going to pass on him but my 8 year old wore me down. I believe in 2nd chances .

I think Ziggy is a little hidden gem for some little girl or boy , after a tune up after you know he is not going to explode , he is so mellow . I think you have done a wonderful job with him. He might even be a great therapy horse for some human ?? !!♥

If I were ten years younger I would take Ziggy in a minute. I had my little grey Arab for 21 years before I lost him at 24. We logged thousands of miles on Ohio trails and he changed a lot of peoples opinions of Arabs.
I have never understood the aversion to Arabians. My horse was so good and kind. His personality was so vibrant. Sure he had his likes and dislikes. And he could be jealous. But he always took care of me on the trail .
@@debrabiderman4275 its because they don't respond to "cowboy" training well; so people blame the horse.
I had an Arab mare who was a total airhead. But she knew she was pretty!
I worked with Arabians and once you do your attraction to them is complete
@@debrabiderman4275 Kit (GHSteel) hated plastic bags unless they contained carrots and he was always suspicious of trash cans but he, too, always took care of me on the trail. And he was super careful around little kids, I have a picture of him being led around the horsecamp by my two year old granddaughter with his head lowered to her level so he could see her. I miss him so much.
Don't listen to backseat riders. You have a formula that works. Keep at it!
I wish you had been around 50 years ago when I bought two extraordinarily patient horses, we made a lot of mistakes together, learned a lot of stuff together, but no one out there was giving a masterclass in horse care, and after watching your show I can see how I could have done a lot of things differently and better. I think you are making a difference for a lot of new horse owners, keep it up, it is wonderful that you focus on horse care and upkeep, rather than the riding part, I always spent many more hours brushing and hanging with my boys than I ever did riding them, your show is the only one that focuses on the hard work involved rather than the fun stuff.
@brendacooper5729. Your post is great, C!ever Cowgirl is so knowledgeable and digs into proper horse care so well. I am 68 years old and have wanted a horse since I was 3 but could not get it to happen for me and I gotta say, I for sure had no business owning horse! I think what I learned from horses came from the old westerns my dad and I watched. I am glad now my dream did not materialize!
Thank you for your post, Brenda. I wish CC was around years ago, too. More like 30 years for me. I had a wonderful gelding and owned him until I needed to put him down at 25. Like you said, not a lot of people around giving a master class on horse care. I had one class on equine nutrition in college. Doesn't come close to what I'm learning from CC. I wish I knew these things back then. I could have done things differently and much better for my gelding, especially in his older years. It makes me sad somwtimes to think about some of these things I could have done for him so much better. Thank you a bunch CC.❤
@@djbrockman8389 I'm 72 and have always felt the same way - I didn't ever push the horse-owning part because I knew that I didn't know everything I needed to know. I've always loved to be around horses or ponies and feel comfortable in a saddle but am just as happy brushing or combing. 🙂
Neither artificial intelligence nor artificial general intelligence will be able to train a horse.
I am an elder and I still find comfort in that.

I really hate hearing that people are hassling you- whether it's about you riding horses, the time you take to rehab them, or any other complaint they have. Like, where do these people get off on it?
I literally have never seen a horse UA-camr so devoted, intune, selfless, and... clever (forgive the pun 😂).

Anyone who has raced bicycles or motorcycles knows that saving weight is crucial to performance and in endurance riding weight is an important consideration too.
It is frustrating to hear people think it would be at all a good idea to jump on a horse that just came from an auction....good lord the hell they go through and the fact diseases or illnesses that can crop up days after they come to you is a huge reason to let an animal decompress...Unbelievable! your channel, at least to me, is about the whole way to care for a rescue horse...all of it, and it shows... your horses are well fed and cared for happy and beautiful.....LOVE THIS CHANNEL ❤

It was neat to see him nicker at you the day after riding him. It was like he decided to trust you and become friends. I think maybe the ride bonded him.💗💗

Why are people pestering you to ride Ziggy? I don't understand it. Is it so crazy to give a horse time to settle in, make sure he's not sick, get the weight back on that he needed and build trust. Everyone is in such a hurry to jump on board. You are right to wait until now.

Same here i've been watching every video for a couple months and got very inspired! Found a few horse rescues and farms that might need some help with grooming and going to volunteer this summer, i'm beyond excited!

Many others have already said this, but for what my 2 cents are worth (not even 2 cents -- lol) you are obviously a knowledgeable and caring horse person, AND you bought Ziggy and have poured care and $$ into him and so it is up to you to decide when it is time to ride him. I wish every equine involved person would be even half as concerned and fair as you toward their horses -- the horses would live such better lives. You and Ziggy are adorable together; I love how much more lively he looked while you were riding him. He clearly has a work ethic and enjoys his job. Whatever decisions you end up making for Ziggy, he has already hit the jackpot of care and consideration becoming your horse, if only even for a couple of months. Thank you so much for what you do for so many mistreated horses and sharing their journey with you with us. I just love watching your channel and learn so much from you.

I always watch the horse to tell me about the trainer. Watching C.C. is seeing good dialogue between a horse and a human.
I loved my Arabian. He was a kick in the pants to ride (in a good way), he saved a group of riders who were stuck in a quicksand area. We led them out on a long rein so he could sniff the ground. He was the first to sense cars on dirt roads, water ahead or other riders coming. He was an easy keeper. I rode dressage on a Warmblood, a thoroughbred over fences but my heart belongs to my Arab.

I’m going to say it again, you are such a good horse mom. I am so thankful that you do what you think is best and ignore what other people think they know about your horses.
Don't pay any attention to internet demands. You are the one that spends her days with those horses, a former vet tech, and a knowledgeable horsewoman. I would watch you for a year and never worry about your decisions when it comes to them. I'm down for whatever, chores and feeding, training, auctions, and riding when you are ready. You go girl!
Now in my 80's I have to ignore a fair few aches and pains in order to get my jobs done too! Such things come with the turf!

You know, it might be nice to keep Ziggy as your steady eddy boy to keep your spirits up. I think he really likes you, and to have him staying right in the back of your house is perfect.

Knew an Arab that looked just like Ziggy. His name was Ashton. Perky spunky animated yet gentle as a lamb. And a bit of a jokester.

Ziggy would take every blue ribbon in a horse show. He just floats when he trots, and he looks so proud and beautiful. CC, you have done a wonderful job with him. Thank tou for teaching us about him.

Jepp, he definitely looks much better than the day you brought him home. I really do like him a lot. And btw, I absolutely love your characterisations of all of your horses. I think it is because you have seen a lot of horses living and working under a lot of circumstances so you have an idea of what their former life looked like. And I love how you take all of this into account when dealing with each horse.

I've been waiting for this! The people criticizing you must be the ones who have no patience, want to rush an animal along and get angry when they don't get instant perfection. What's the big hurry, anyway? The at-risk horses you save need time to get over whatever they left behind - trauma, being hauled and banged around at auctions, harsh handling, etc, transition into their new, wonderful lives, and learn to trust you. Ziggy may be a little "roly-poly"😄 but he looks great thanks to you. That gorgeous Arabian head and tail I just love him!😍❤❤

I've had Arabs before and love them. But mine were bigger boned, more robust types, 15 and 15.5 hands. I'm petite myself and actually prefer Ziggy's size and classic conformation. Very nice horse!

Some 10-12 year old girl is going to love Ziggy to death, he is so pretty and so even tempered. He will be treated like a crown prince and get all the best treats. The best final phase to his life he could get and he sure earned it.

I know nothing about horses and have never been interested, but I love this channel.
I think what you said about chiro is interesting. I see people swear by chiro saying all horses need it as regular maintenance. I decided to get it for my 23 yro mare. She was being trail ridden heavily at the time so I figured surely she would need it. I didn’t have any indication besides her age and work level. Well, chiro came out and told me how great she was and nothing felt off or weird. I was shocked. This is an aged horse being hauled/ ridden at least once a week. The chiro that saw her is a dr and human chiro too so he’s a good one. It made me really question why some horses are needing chiro work so frequently/ at all. I put A LOT of emphasis on saddle fit and conditioning my horses. I don’t think chiro is this magical fix everyone makes it out to be.

CC, I learned to ride on bareback horses rather than with a saddle. So, when I began using a saddle, I was initially uncomfortable because I could no longer feel the horse's muscles and their movements. This way felt like I was in "tune" with my horse, and could predict what he was going to do. Although I did eventually use saddles, I preferred English ones rather than Western saddles, again for these reasons.
Please do not feel like you need to justify to us, anything you do with your horses! I was around horses most of my life, but have learned more from you than I ever did in my many years as a rider! You are the very best "horse person" I've seen, and I've seen and watched plenty of them! Thank you for your vlog which is a quiet, calm, happy place to be the chaotic world today!
I really like Ziggy. I have known some Arabian gems of horses and feel that he will be one of that type. Mellow but responsive, good legs and feet and able to thrive with the correct care for many years. Someone will be very happy to have him, I am sure. You are giving him exactly what he needs to be his best self.

Adequan is a great support. I adopted a dog in 2005 who was born with a severe deformity in his rear legs. He walked but would swing his legs from the hips since his legs and knee joints were stifled. He lived to age 17, the last 3 years I gave him Adequan injections to keep his arthritis from giving him so much pain. He was a miracle dog ❤️ I’m amazed you mentioned it here. Thank you for all you do for these horses
In my advanced years I wish I could have you find and rehabilitate a horse like Ziggy for me. You do amazing work with you horses!
I think Ziggy is beautiful. And please don’t let the people who are giving you negative comments bother you. I personally have found since Covid that everybody is angry and they don’t know what to do with their anger so they lash out at anyone and everyone.

Dont be hard or self conscience on yourself... I cant imagine anyone thinking you shouldn't ride Ziggy. The day after your ride, he came right up to you prolly wanting to have another go. Seems to be a great animal and very lucky to have been rescued by you. Great job Maam

From my perspective... Ziggy is making excellent progress. The care and training that you are giving Ziggy (as well as ALL of your other rescue charges)... is simply OUTSTANDING! As usual, your videos are both educational & entertaining... PLEASE keep them coming!
