      Amen, and thank you. I LOVE what we get to see through the lens. So many times when I get home and start going through photos on my monitors, I see more than in the EVF and that is awesome too. Nature is simply amazing and most dont give it a thought. I make jokes that I get excited when I see some little creature but I know they dont get as excited seeing me as I do seeing them!!! 🙏🤗💖

      I think it will!! LOL. I like it on the R5 and will try it on the R7 when we have a lot of sun. I have also discovered that I really like the zoom on there too instead of me just stepping back a couple of meters or yards. I have found that if I slide the foot to the left a little I can get back to the focus ring for the small treasures that are in the bushes I like to shoot. For the close ups of the bugs in spring and summer, it will still be the 100-500!!! It will be going with me on my trip on the R5 and the 600 F4 will be on the R7. 🙏🤗💖

      Is that the Bosque del Apache????? In New Mexico? My home state???? If so, I have a billion questions and would love to drive out there to shoot. I waited for this to go up on sale and as soon as it did, I hit buy now - I was fortunate. As I have used this lens more and more, I really like it. I have shot it on both the R7 and the R5 and I think I prefer it on the R5 even though I have less reach. Time will tell. If I am using the 100-500 or the 600 F4, I have been happy with the images I get on the R7. We all have different styles and look for something different that meets our needs based on what we shoot and out style. All your EF glass will adapt perfectly to the R7 and you will have full focus that will will blow your mind. I dont know what lenses you shoot so I cant speak to that. This lens works perfectly on the R7 but I think it needs a bit more light than what we are having here right now. The video capability and zoom are really awesome. What lenses are you shooting on your 7DII or your gear in general? 🙏🤗💖

      @@JonnyPink65 the 150-600 TamronG2 is what I have used since day one on the 7D2 . I’ve gotten my fair use out of it . I switched to micro MFT and have multiple capable bodies that are full range of lenses all the way up to 600. But I purposely didn’t do anything about a serious wildlife set up until I could do more research. 100-300 PL is a very small decent lens but the nicest camera I use it on is the Lumix G9 which may not be up to speed in low light.
      So I can sell all of my canon bodies and lenses because all those ranges are covered very nicely with micro 4/3 equipment, but I think I’ll have one dedicated strictly wildlife . The R5 was the goal but I think I might just save the money and get the R7 and hope for the best if I could get the 200 800 lens here as fast as normal equipment purchases I would be taking it to Bosque with me this month, but that’s not possible

      I am enjoying it a lot and I am working around what does not work for me. I like the weight, and I LOVE the zoom - I dont have to step back and be the zoom. For the light we are having, I prefer it on the R5 but when summer gets here that may change. I am taking it with me and it will live on the R5 - I am really enjoying what I can get with the R5. The 600 F4 will live on the R7. I will find out how it performs in the rain and snow. For treasures in the bushes, I have the foot slightly to the left side and that seems to allow me to get to the focus ring a little easier. Fun lens. In the spring though, the 100-500 will be my bug lens. 🙏🤗💖

    I enjoy the pictures. Just superb. This day you had no complaints about the Canon 200-800 lens! Did you successfully adapt your hand to reaching the zoom ring or was this a day of never zooming with a 1.4x boost?

      Thank you, thank you. I was shooting treasure that were at a distance so it was not an issue. It is when I am shooting little creature that are buried in the bushes and I have have to help the focus into the right location. I wish this lens had a focus limiter, and that the programable buttons and focus ring were swapped and I do talk about that in my next video that will be up in the next day or so. As I use it more and more, I love the zoom, the light weight, but over all ...... I think I like it better on the R5. To my eyes, I just get a bit more of the detail I look for. Could be the low light etc - time will tell. Overall, it is a fantastic lens!! 🙏🤗💖

    So what are your impressions of this lens relative to the RF 100-500, and the Sigma 150-600 C on the R7? Would like to hear what you think regarding weight, construction, focusing, aperture, sharpness, etc.

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  11 місяців тому

      Ah..... well, I think the 100-500, this lens and any native Canon lens outperform the Sigma adapted lenses hands down. I hope that changes when Sigma releases RF specific lenses. The Sigma just not adapt as well. Weight - it weighs about what the Sigma does or the Nikon 200-500 or the Sony 200-600 - all about the same. It is an all day hand holding lens for me but some may disagree. It is a little front heavy when fully extended but I balance on the foot so that is not an issue either. I wish it had a focus limiter and that the focus ring programable buttons were switched as far as their placement but that is just me being picky for the way I shoot. I LOVE the zoom (using a prime, i have to step back making ME the zoom LOL), and I love the range. 800mm to me is the perfect focal length. As of right now, I prefer the detail and quality I get using it on the R5 where as the quality using the 100-50 and 600 F4 is about the same on both the R5 and R7.... but I have been using those a lot longer. Over all, the more I use it, the more I really like it. I hope that answers it. And as far as weather sealing..... well, I will find out in a couple of days in the rain and show looking for eagles in Washington and Oregon. I have decided to take it and my 600 F4 with the 1.4. The 600 will live on the R7 and the 200-800 will live on the R5!! Great on both but I prefer it on the R5 as a long short answer! 🙏🤗💖

      @@JonnyPink65 awesome, thanks for your insight! I have the sigma and I agree, it's not the lightest but nothing I can't handle especially with a strap! I think the 800mm is best used for closer subjects to get a good bokeh instead of straining the lens at distant targets where you'll see the effects of heat shimmer. Even up north we get heat shimmer on cold winter days so it's unavoidable. I'm upgrading to a 100-500 RF so I'm looking forward to the better AF and sharpness of that very soon!!

      😂🤣😅 I think the advantages outweigh the one disadvantage over all. After shooting it on the R7 and the R5, I prefer it on the R5 - to me it seems to have a bit more clarity on the R5 where as the 100-500 or the 600 F4 seem to have the same clarity on both bodies - at least for my style of shooting and what I look for in an image. I light the weight and I REALLY am enjoying the zoom. I AM taking it with me on my adventure but it will be on the R5 the entire time and the 600 F4 will be on the R7 with the 1.4 extender. I have also found by accident that if I have the lens foot just a little to the left, I can get to the focus ring easier. Nothing is perfect and I have to remember that as well. Overall - it is an awesome RF lens. So ....... yup, depending on how it hold up in the rain and now on my trip, I will be keeping it. 🙏🤗💖

I have the 100-400 mk2 ef which if I went the RF100-500 route I could trade in the 100-400 but I would have to wait for additional cash the RF 1.4 extender. But it seems the better way would be the RF 200-800 but I wouldn't trade in the 100-400 then so makes it a lot more expensive to fund.
