This took a long ass time to put together, so let me know what you think! I'm working on a video to show the commentary and tips on shooting/editing/things I've learned putting this project together. Hang tight. This was all shot with a Fuji XH1 and 16-55 2.8 handheld! :)
Really nice, love the handheld look and transitions! Kept it interesting. Would have liked to see what a little interspersed 120fps b-roll would have added to it. Thanks for probably the best video on UA-cam showing off the x-h1's video capabilities as well 🙌
Daniel Oakes ahhhh good call! On the next one I think some running water from a faucet or shower would be good opps for 120. Thanks! And thanks for the kind words, my friend. :) Stay safe out there!
Ishijah1 ya? Was just thinking of trying to make a skillshare video. Thanks for the encouraging words, my friend. :) I’ll have to start putting something together!
JV VISUAL thanks buddy! I’m hoping to find time to do a breakdown video of this shoot. Doing it again, I would have brought in some lights to light up Sarah as she spoke when possible.
I'm here from FlashFilm Academy. I need to learn some this from you. I think this was awesome. Do you have a video showing the camera, gear, and rig? I need a stabilizer for my cam. I have one for cellphones but the stabilizer is a Gimbal Zhiyun Smooth 4, that thing isn't reliable. Plus I don't want to shoot anything for a client with a phone. I know there is a lot of great work out there with a phone, but I image is everything . If a client sees me with a phone, I don't know how they would receive that. You know! To just get started stabilizing my camera, what type of inexpensive stabilizer should I try? I don't mind moving up to something more pricey later. I enjoyed this video. I know this took a long time to edit because I edited a video that took me 4 hours and when I finished, it was a 3 minuet video, no kidding! You really inspired me. Thanks for reaching out. New subscriber here !!
Thanks for the kind words! And happy to help! These kinds of questions is perfect ideas for video because we want to make content that’s actually useful to others, so keep em coming! For this video it was all handheld! :) I wanted it to have some movement. What smooths it out the stabilization I have in my camera (Fuji xh1). Now even if your canon doesn’t have it, you can do smooth shots using your body and legs and then use stabilization in post to reduce any shakes. Or make your camera heavier with a rig. More weight means less shake, but you still get movement. And I agree, no phones for paid shoots. I actually want to do a breakdown video talking about the gear and how I captured this vid. And yes, it was about 20 hours but once you get in the flow it’s fun so it doesn’t seem that bad. This again was another example where I originally did interior photography for her and then asked if she’d be willing to be my guinea pig for this video. It was a beautiful place so I knew it would help my video portfolio so it’s worth it. Now i intend for use this as an example for businesses to introduce their shops and products in a similar way. Just spoke to a yoga studio today about the idea. :) Anyways, a breakdown/bts on how to create this video is in the works! Stay tuned! :)
When she said let's check out the master suite, did you tell her to pause talking until you got to the room? It was a smooth transition . There are many people I meet that love photo/ video the way I do. I will be very interactive .
What I found helpful was filming in chunks. So we did it room by room and if she messed up what she was saying, I just told her to take a breathe, clap (for audio syncing) and then start again. Keeping it low pressure helps. And if you you didn’t get a good intro into the next room or whatever, you can always just film that clip because it’s just like LEGO - you can piece it together in post however want. No need to worry about it chronologically. You can always connect it with transitions or b roll. Hope that helps! :)
@@AtomicPixel I think I know what you mean by making the audio sync by clapping, but if you have the time one day make a video on it. I only have imovie right now. I tried so hard to record with two cameras and make the audio sync and boy was it hard. To say the least I never got it. I'm not sure if I'm trying to push iMovie to the max of its capabilities or not. I plan on using Final Cut Pro as an upgrade because I find it easier coming from iMovie. This is so cool I'll have someone to talk shop with . I'll be catching up on all of your videos.
It's My Life Daralynn for sure! It’s nice to connect with others to learn and keep each other motivated! :) I use final cut. I find it soooo much more intuitive than adobe premiere. Clap for syncing just helps so you can see the spike in audio to help you manually line things up. In fcp there’s multi camera sync so it can help you do things automatically.
