You seem to avoid talking about the Arab-Islamic conquest of the 7th century, as the immediate context for the building of the Dome of the Rock. It seems that it was built as a sign of conquest over the native Christians and Jews, built on top of the Jews' holiest site, using stolen Christian church pillars, copying the Christian domes, but built to be taller, and bearing inscriptions contradicting the Christian faith. It is most unfortunate that this was done, especially in regards to the Jewish temple, as Jews are forever 'forbidden' by Muslims from praying on their holiest site which was taken from them, or rebuilding their temple. Imagine if this was done to Ka'aba by the Jews. It is not an act without long-lasting repercussions.
first of all jews were forbidden by jewish law itself. second it did not built in immediate context of Arab-Islamic conquest, it at least build after 40 or 50 year of conquest.
For half a millennium, the area of the temple lay forgotten, its grandeur buried under neglect and turned into a desecrated garbage dump as Jerusalem was in the control of Christians (Roman and Byzantine). Umar Ibn AlKhattab, upon his bloodless conquest of Jerusalem, encountered the Temple's ruins, now a mere shadow of its past, debased into a refuse heap. Moved by a deep reverence for this sacred site, Umar humbly knelt, his hands working to clear away the debris of centuries. Inspired, his followers joined, a collective act of cleansing that marked a stark contrast to the desecrations by Babylonians and Romans. Where others saw ruin, the Muslims saw a treasure to be revered. In their hands, the Temple's dignity was not only restored but elevated, a testament to their respect and veneration. This was not just a conquest, but a reverent reclaiming, a moment when political power intertwined with a profound respect for heritage and faith. In Isaiah 56:7, the prophecy speaks of the Lord's house being a "house of prayer for all nations." The Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex have been places of worship for people of various nationalities and cultures, reflecting a fulfillment of the prophecy.
Sharif- the Muslims have forbidden everyone except Muslims from praying there. They have no reverance for the Temple - they are now saying that the Temple was not even there, because they don't want Jews to be able to talk about their religious heritage in this place- they want to erase it. If they see Jews praying there, they yell at them to leave, and will arrest them or perhaps even attack them. So i think your story is not quite an honest picture. And look at the endless fighting we have over this spot now. What if the Dome had been built next to the Temple instead of right on top of it? Wouldn't it have been easier for them to live together? If my brother's house burns down and I build a second home for myself on top of his old house, and tell him he can never come back, i think he will sadly see me as his enemy.
@@josephwald1991 The analogy is inaccurate. If your brother’s house burns down and you build one in that location 612 years later, it’s a completely different story. The only reason this is an issue now is because Evangelical Christians consider rebuilding of the Temple to be a prerequisite to Armageddon and the Second Coming.
@@Khaldunii It is true that when the Jews had their Temple, they forbade all non-Jews from entering the enclosure. So I would not pretend that Judaism is a welcoming, universalist type of religion. It is basically a tribal religion carried into the modern day. But I wouldn't pretend that Islam is either - Islam may be more universal than Judaism, but you were describing the Dome of the Rock is if it was built as a holy place for everyone - 'all the nations' - which seems misleading. It is for Muslims only. And also, I agree that 600 years is a long time, and raises important questions. At the same time - everyone knew that that was the spot of the Jewish Temple, and only the Muslims decided to build something permanent there, which obviously could be a problem down the road if there were still Jews in the world. Maybe the Muslims thought the Jews would disappear? This is the point of our discussion I think - what were the people thinking when they built this Dome? It seems they were basically saying that Islam would replace Judaism and Christianity (around the outside of the Dome they wrote statements especially contradicting Christian beliefs). And this really fits in with the time it was built - this is when Muslim armies were expanding and conquering the known world. Muslims at this time probably had the idea that Islam could replace all the older religions. So that is my basic point, and it seems honest. The Dome of the Rock represents this idea of Islam replacing other religions, just as it was built to permanently replace the Jewish Temple, and the Jews would just have to accept this. You quote someone saying that Jews depended on Islam to survive. You don't really explain, but it seems absurd - Jews survived before Islam, and they survived outside of Islamic areas. They found a way to live alongside Islam, but they did the same everywhere else. Seems fair to say that Islam, in general, was a bit ambivalent about Judaism - there were positives and negatives. The construction of the Dome and forbidding Jews to pray there does not seem like a big positive for most Jews. Was it ok to do this? I can't answer that for you. And yes, 600 years is a long time. Maybe you think that Judaism should just disappear, because who needs this crazy tribal religion anyway. Or you think they should accept that someone built something else on their holiest spot in the world - and just live with it. But clearly it is a unique thing in history - imagine if some people had come and destroyed the Kaaba in Mecca, and when you make the Haj, you now have to stare at a Buddhist temple, Jewish synagogue, Christian church, or whatever in that spot, and it's been there over a 1,000 years, so people don't want you to touch it. On the other hand, you might say - look there are lots of Buddhist temples in the world, and Buddhism didn't start in this area, and there is only 1 place in the world for the Kaaba, and we all pray in that direction, Muslims should be able to re-build the Kaaba even if it were gone for 2,000 years. It is strange to imagine. But I think Muslims might want to do it, if they had survived and not forgotten. What a celebration they would have, that generation to rebuild it, and restore the Haj. They would see themselves as heroes. And I think this is the whole problem we have now with the Dome being in this spot, and the Jews having not disappeared or forgotten. It was destined to lead to trouble, if the Jews ever became strong enough to want to come back. That's all I'm saying. Judaism and Jews are unique in their history - there is no other story like theirs. They are the root of Christianity and Islam, but they lost their land and Temple. I think the only way to justify modern Israel is to look at it as if all the nations are trying to figure out a problem - what to do with these Jews - and even the Jews are trying to figure out what to do with themselves. There are many areas of the world in the 20th century where ethnic groups were displaced, and the United Nations often had the idea of grouping ethnic groups into separate nations in order to reduce tensions - so they could stop fighting each other and just live independently in their own nations. People have to move to a new home, but in the long-term the idea was that things will be better for everyone. And it is true that most of the Jews left Muslim countries to go to Israel. I was just watching a documentary on Afghanistan and there is like only 1 Jew left in that country, when there had been tens of thousands there before Israel. But of course, many of the Muslims in Palestine did not agree to 'switch places', and the neighboring countries refused to accept Muslims from Palestine. Even today, with the war, Egypt and Jordan will not accept them. So most Muslim countries no longer have any problems with Jews, but the Jews have a problem of what to do with the Muslims that no one wants, and who do not want to leave. So I agree that it did not work so well, and now we have a whole new problem. On the positive side - the Jews are taking so much knowledge, wealth and resources out of Europe, America, etc, and bringing it to the Middle East. There was not much going on in Palestine under the Ottomans. Or ever, really. Let's be honest - this tiny area of land is not that great for anything. Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, etc are much nicer areas. So a person could just say, hey if they are in love with this poor land and bring millions and millions of dollars of investment and industry into the region, let's make the most of it. It could actually benefit the whole Middle East if they work like a team - Abraham Accords - instead of fighting. But let's face it, there are not many pragmatic people involved in any of this. You basically have 2 religions and they both want the exact same holy place, and believe it belongs to them. What can you do with that? You either pick a side, or you just say, like I'm saying, that it is unfortunate they didn't build the beautiful Dome a little bit over to the side of the Temple, and then Jews and Muslims could be buddies.
I would not say that's an accurate description of the Jewish point of view. Those things are arbitrary and non functioning in practice. In practice, IF that is indeed the "evven ha'shisiyah" or foundation stone, then that most relevantly would have been the spot of the Kadosh HaKaddoshim in the Temples. I have heard another theory that it is the site of the altar or "mizbei'akh". The things you mentioned were only anecdotal
It is indeed the spot of Kodesh Hakodashim. The reasons Hikma mentioned are really anecdotal, as there is more than one reason to why the foundation stone is the holiest place in Judaism. furthermore, the stone's connection to Kodesh HaKodashim is proven in "Bordeaux Itinerar", a journal of travels by a Christian pilgrim from around 333 CE, where he describes that on every Tish'a B'Av, "Jews come to the temple mount and anoint a perforated stone, bewail themselves with groans and rend their garments". This is a perfect description of the modern site and of the man who's supposed to be high priest anointing the foundation stone, a practice by HaKohen HaGadol from the days of Solomon.
If Adam and Eve their creation was at the Dome of the Rock by the Ghosts which created man in their after their likeness it means that the Dome of the Rock was indeed a gate to Heaven because Heaven is all about Spirit and Ghosts because according to John the Baptist God himself is a Spirit or a Ghost in Heaven.

So islam borrowed from the previous religions theology, borrowed from the architecture of byzantine churches to design the dome of the rock and built it on top the holiest places of these previous religions... What an awful religion
This is an awful 'history.' It seems the narrator prefers to ignore context and history. Specifically, the Jewish and Christian story. Though these are mentioned in passing, it's as if only Islam matters on this narrator's Temple Mount. The Muslims felt they had some kind of right to build a Mosque on top of the holiest spot in Judaism. How would they feel if the Jews converted the Dome of the Rock into a Jewish Temple now? The Crusaders did not just control the area, they converted the Dome of the Rock into a Christian church. This is an exclusionary presentation.
They are all just stories nothing more than stories open to interpretation

Night journey of Mohammed was claimed in Quran 17 1 but ignore the 2nd line that talks about Moses receiving Torah from God
The night journey is not more than a lie just like Imam Mahdi
Neither Muhamed or the starting point of the night journey is mentioned.
At the very least, historical facts should be given proper weight. They are not.

The opening line makes no sense. There's only 3 aberhamic monotheistic religions and the dome is only important to only one of them
Islam is not an Abrahamic religion. Muslims claim they descended from Ishmael, but there is no record of his lineage after the generation of his grandchildren. Recorded history of the Arabs did not begin until almost 900 years after Ishmael died. It is all a deception to build Islam on top of the foundation of the Jewish and Christian faiths in order to try and legitimize the false religion concocted by a very flawed man who married a 6 year old child. Islam is not an Abrahamic religion and the dome of the rock is notable to Christians only in that they recognise it as the Abomination of Desolation mentioned in Daniel. It was built exactly 1290 years after the destruction of the first temple - exactly as Daniel predicted. The Abomination of Desolation is described as built by liars - around its edges are the words "God has no son."
