I'll be playing the PS4 Pro version day 1 (that the console launches). We get crap mods (which fortunately I'm not interested in), but the better looking and running Skyrim in 4K. I'll get a Scorpio too when it launches but will be done with Skyrim permanently, by then. I agree though, Skyrim looked pretty decent even on the 360 though. Held up okay.
You people must be nuts if you can't tell a difference. The textures for the foliage are way sharper and just cleaner overall, the draw distance was improved tremendously, the extra stones and plants and what not make the whole world look far denser, which is nice. Depth of field is actually depth of field now, rather than just fuzzy textures at a distance, the lighting has been improved in subtle, yet realistic ways, and that's only what I've taken note of within the first two minutes.
Omega One I know, it's amazing the hate this is getting. Look at the lake shot. Depth of field, water effects, and the detail in the distance are leagues beyond last gen. Gamers are so entitled.
Well you're only paying 60 if you are getting it on console. PC gets it free if you already have everything. I personally think it is worth 40... But I'll let it slide because they really did good.
I played this at 480p on PS3 in 2012 and it looked like shit. This looks phenomenal and even the X360 version looks so much better than the trash ass PS3 version.
I have sink 300+ hours in both versions and i assure you the ps3 version is identical visually(in some instances is even slightly better due to the higher contrast on ps3) The Xbox 360 was the (way) better console version because the ps3 runs the game like an absolute SHIT!
Skyrim only runs at 720p on consoles with no upscaling. The game also still has the save file issue and save files over 10mb will have serious issues. I don't know why you're making stuff up.
I don't care if the graphics are slightly better, I'm gunna buy it because it's my favorite game made so I can play it on a faster and better console. When I go to my 360 to play (the only reason why i still have a 360) it rarely works and is profoundly slow. I'm glad they did this, and people should look past the graphics, and see the other benefits.
Johnny Stob yeah with an Xbox 360 if I'm playing for two hours, a good 30 minutes could be spent on just loading screens. If I had an Xbox one I would buy this
I'm quite disappointed tbh. Like, the water and stuff looks good, but they make it look as though it's set in the middle of summer. They took away that blue hue that gave it that cold winter-ish feel.
And tbh as a PC gamer I am super spoiled...even though my PC is shitty i can mod Vanilla way better than the remastered edition...although my Pc might not even be able to run the Remaster very well...i wouldn't be too disappointed. i bet people already work on mods to get that yellow filter out of there!
Hell no. PC players also get REAL mods. Mods that make the official Dragonborn DLC look like a horse armor pack. Not to mention all the amazing overhauls. What kind of mods do consoles get? Weapon reskin? Cheat mode?
actually i have it on both 360 AND PC, so am I a peasant or an elitist? 700+ hours on 360 and another 200+ on PC it runs slightly better (as in no crashes) on console. PC has much higher frame-rate, far more mods, AND much better graphics (with mods) this is the game that made me build a PC...
I actually see a big difference in graphics!! FPS should be better, should be smoother and less glitchy, probably faster load times. Can't wait to play it again 👍
i know im late to this...but the performance for this is amazing... there is an unofficial skyrim mod patch thats working brilliantly too, you wont even fall through the stairs anymore lol
maybe because skyrim was a boring as fuck game just like fallout4? and maybe because bethesda just copy/pasted the game on a next gen console disc and tried to resell it for 60 fucking dollars with literally nothing changed? Bethesda couldnt be fucked remastering morrowind or oblivion because it would actually take some fucking effort outside updating the look of a game.
Without a doubt it is. The fact that you can say anything negative on the Internet and have it backed up by 500 anonymous "likes" and somehow gain validity from it is pretty much the worst part of the Internet. Now, enjoying games is essentially a thought-crime and new releases aren't taken with a grain of salt now- they're either taken with the utmost hype (and subsequently let people down from their absurdly high standards) or are taken with an entire thing of salt, and bashed into a comatose induced by constant berating and belittlement, even if the hardware/game is great, mostly based on stupid and honestly archaic ideas such as "who made it" or "how good le graifixx arr". ...TLDR: I hate gaming nowadays. It's horrible. Why can't we just go back to being happy about video games existing lol
If anything this video really helps us appreciate just how great the game looked originally in 2011 on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The fact that those consoles, then over 5 years old each, could run such a great-looking game at a fairly solid 30 frames per second it's honestly quite amazing.
***** I don't understand why they are not just remaking it like COD, the bethesda first disappoint me with skyrim remaster and then Ubisoft make assassin's creed trilogy remaster? They are dumb.
Fun fact: When the video started I though "Oh Skyrim used to look like crap", then I realized that first shot was of the new special edition. I guess that's what happens when you've had Skyrim in PC for years hahaha Edit: Guys guys, hold your horses, this is not a comment to shit on consoles, I think both consoles and PC have their pros and cons and I use them both. Stop acting like kids thinking that you need to marry with one console and hate on all of the others. That's stupid.
Tren Kokoko I know what you mean when the game looks like this: www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/79218/? I mean that's just waaaay too colorfull and bright. However I like it somewhere in the middle between vanilla Skyrim's completely washed out looks and too colorful mods...my Skyrim is looking like this, and Im quite happy with it, if you look at the link I posted in my previous comment. That's how I like Skyrim to look, colors are way more plentiful and rich than in vanilla, but they still look pleasing and "natural" to my eyes atleast.
Balnazzardi Tren Kokoko I agree, I don't like those mods, in fact I like a style closer to vanilla but with better texture and a couple of better light effects. I was never a fan of extremely different from vanilla ENB
Balnazzardi Yeah I couldn't agree more, although I love playing Skyrim with a far better quality, with enb's like this, the theme and lore of skyrim is lost. The whole idea of Skyrim, is that is a harsh and brutal landscape where only hardy nords live. When sunflowers, buttercups and rainbows where its always sunny are brought to the world, sure it looks great, but that's not what Skyrim was intended on looking like. If you want to play in a fantasy world like that, look no further than oblivion.
Stephen Ward funny that you say that, cause one of the reasons I really liked Oblivion more, were its lush green forests and hills and more colorful landscape :D...now while I agree that Skyrim's landscape is more harsh, so not everything can look too bright and colorful, I did install few mods alongside Realvision ENB, I also installed few mods that add lots of vegetation and more dense forests (where trees/forest is located in vanilla, its just makes them more dense, not adding anything up to areas where there shouldnt be trees :D)..now maybe some think that's bit too much, but to me it really felt made huge difference to how much I enjoyed the game.... I mean like I said, I loved the green hills and forests of Oblivion and overall I like it when games have rich color world, but again there is a fine line what I think looks good, and what is too much, like in that ENB mod I linked. But on the other hand I never liked vanilla Skyrim's "washed out look" either, so that's why I chose RealVision, and added also wanted more detailed game world, thus installed those forest and vegetations mods. But anyhow Skyrim has such vast modding community that everyone should be able to find just the right mods to make Skyrim look like the place they want but 100x better than what even the Special Edition looks like...I mean heck there are even mods that turn Skyrim into tropical landscape, if thats your thing :D....Skyrim's modding community truly is something special. And the great thing is that I even barely started on Skyrim yet, I was supposed to play it during summer, but plans changed, so now Im just waiting likely to next summer, or whenever I would more calm period in my life to fully immersive myself to this game.....to me that's the only way to play games like Skyrim :D. That's how I played both Morrowind and Oblivion, during summer holiday, just lost myself into those worlds completely.
Meme Lord its the worst actually makes the scenery looks like it has dirt all over it. fog of dirt. original game had grey tint to it remaster has yellow and orange tint to it now.
Meme Lord in some different lighting scenes that tint is oversaturated quite a bit where there is already quite a lot of orangeness in scenery that's what i think is too much. rest scenes looks awesome.
So the graphical changes look to be: More vegetation More rocks on the ground slightly better LOD Better (but still terrible) water textures yellow tint **slow clap**
Much higher resolution. New textures. Volumetric lighting. New effects. Screen-space reflections. New snow and water. And then of course there will be mods(which I've had on PC, but nice for console users). Can't wait for my new copy.
MercilessHobo The HD texture pack had higher resolution textures as well, they still looked like crap because Bethesda did a terrible job. All those new features are nice but the most important point is how much different it actually looks. Sure it's kind of hard to tell through a video because of the compression but the game most of the time looks like they just added a yellow tint and upscaled the textures a bit. There's only so much new effects can do when the developer does a bad job at integrating then. I don't wanna bash the SE for PC though, I get it for free so i don't really care. I'm happy with my extremely heavily modded Skyrim.
Exidrial The HD texture pack was literally just higher resolution textures. This is an entire remaster. All visual assets have changed. Not just bumping up the resolution on some textures. I'm not sure if you took your glasses off or contacts out, or just need your eyes checked, but in every single scene you can see a LOT of differences. No more shimmering, far more objects leaving the environment looking less empty, further draw distances making the further out landscapes look like they should instead of just a blank canvas with a couple trees, etc. Enjoy your heavily modded skyrim all you want. Other PC gamers will be getting a new engine that's better optimized. As everyone knows, the original Skyrim engine is SHIT. I'll be enjoying the updated 64-bit engine that doesn't bottleneck to 30fps the second you start adding mods, with the same graphics as mods. Good luck with your eye exam bud.
I bought the PS4 version and immediately went back to the 360 version. Do NOT buy the special edition if you want a more immersive Skyrim. It no longer looks like winter, but more like spring. Flora is vibrant and too bright. The cold, harsh look/atmosphere of the game is gone. It really turned me off. These changes that they made... I have no problem with texture upgrades, but don't sacrifice good graphics for immersion. And the water textures were incredible in Skyrim. It had a glacial look to it. The water in the special edition looks like the kind you'd want to swim in for fun. And the lighting? Why is it so yellow? Yeah, the original version is better in my opinion.
This is a little underwhelming. Definitely an improvement, of course, but is it enough to justify paying for the entire game again? No I don't think so.
I havent had any problem with mods, not after I got the update that allows hundreds of mods run at the same time, without the game's memory getting full, crashing the game. Overall its ofc good visual update + limited mod support for console gamers, but this adds no-value to PC gamers...then again if you already own the game + DLCs on PC, its entirely free, but I dont see why you should update to it, if you already have mods running without any trouble.
it does come with all the dlc though...but still not worth it especially when xbox has BC, they should give us a choice....but a remaster is just a cash grab.
I've always just wanted a 64-bit Skyrim. The graphics are, as always, mod-fixable, but now with the benefit of mods being more stable with far less troubleshooting.
ShadowBandit39 Yea, and seeing as I have it and all the DLC on the 360 and PC, it would be stupid to pay $60 just to change the tint of the graphics and use of a different controller. Edit: It also seems like the "new" version has less snow (which I can't stand) and more blurs to the background. I think if anything those two things should be opposite of what they are.
I mean, when they are side to side you can tell there is a difference, but I honestly thought that the first shot was xbox 360 and not xbox one. The upgrade just isn't worth 60$, 40$ would be much more appropriate.
F3ARN0NE187 All the DLC that I have already played? LOL. But yeah, I have a playstation so the mods are gonna suck. But even if PS had the same mods, it still wouldn't be worth 60$ They are selling us same shit that they just slapped on a couple of lighting tricks.
F3ARN0NE187 I mean when you could buy Skyrim on PC for like $10-$15 dollars with all the DLC and mod support it seems a bit farfetched to expect someone to pay $60 for a 2011 game with DLC.
Its pretty much an update to the engine if anything. Its more rather a remaster internally than it is externally. No more achievable Vram limit which will give mods the ability to improve the game even further.
Why is everyone bitching about every little thing? I'm just a diehard Elder Scrolls fan excited to play one of my favorites on my new console. Jesus, don't buy it if you don't want it people!
***** Negative feedback: "This looks like crap, not worth anywhere near $50" Positive feedback: "This looks so cool, can't wait to play it on Xbox One" Get it now?
i know i think the yellow tint is beatiful but this bitch ass whiners have to cry about it because they have no taste and expect every game to look 100x better than real life
it's an improvement. not by much though. the DOF definitely saves it, but it looks way to warm. if you look at some of the tree cinematics it looks super humid.
Vanilla Skyrim looked too dreary. It's cold outside where I live, but that doesn't mean that when I look outside it doesn't look all nice and warm. That's how lighting works. The sun literally makes everything look warm, because it's a freaking hot ball of plasma sending rays of light our way.
Blatantly Heroic Skyrim isn't real life. If making it look colder enhances the feeling of being in a cold land, It's better than it looking warm in my opinion.
It looked like shit with its lighting though, like it literally looked like omsht with how gray it was. Colder air deoesnt change the color of things. Have you seen the sky on a clear day in snowy mountains? It's one of the most glorious, deep blues you'll ever see. To me, the only way to go is still PC version + ENB. It can look cold when it needs to. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=785032427
Did they ever fix the shadows on PC? You guys need to look closer. This is heads and tails better than the original vanilla Skyrim. So if the mods were able to make the original look so good, imagine what mods will do for this new 64 bit version (Free on PC).
The trees look better. Better shadows and waters are quite noticable. More rubble on the ground. As well as more random plants around. Let's not even start on the depth of field.
You might want to put some glasses on or something because Bethesda has definitely made some upgrades to not only textures, but draw distances, lighting, improved DoF, more clutter and items, water effects, and shadow improvements. At the very least there is a 100% improvement on the visuals, not to mention, the game's executable is now 64-bit performance. So there's quite a bit in what Bethesda's done with the overall enhancement.
So many people saying it doesnt look different. You have to keep in mind that it also has mod support so even if it doesnt look different to you now, you can still make it how you want when visual upgrade mods are developed.
dont forget about the fps the prettier it looks the shittier its going to run and they havent even talked about FPS at all wich concerns me rather have it at 60 fps now and run 30 with pretty mods u feel me.
Can Bethesda please learn how to make great games *without* frame rate drops?! Cos damn they always have issues with framerate :/ fallout was an absolute mess and this is just the same
This is not a PC vs console thing, this is a about the fact that Bethesda cannot make graphically heavy games run smoothly while practically all other game developers makes absolutely beautiful, visually stunning games that run perfectly on all platforms, Bethesda needs to get their shit together
Skyrim on 360 was so epic at the time for me. When I started playing the Remaster on Xbone my initial impression was, "This doesnt look any different. It still looks amazing." Then I watch this. *jaw drops* ❤
Late comment, I know, but how? The vanilla game looks way better on console now. They finally added a lot of colour and the game just looks so much better overall. Plus there is mod support on console now, so that alone is worth it. I bought it for $80 as soon as it was released, and I've easily sunk another thousand plus hours into the game. It runs a lot smoother and I have not a single crash without mods.
@@HappyHippo2002 also late comment, but the best benefit is the load times. I remember as a kid the load times were terribly long. On PS4 they were really short. And on ps5 they’re practically nonexistent. Also nowadays it’s worth like 12$ lol. Not 60$ like it was 4 years ago.
@@OrganicDolphin Yeah the load times on the Series X|S are instantaneous. I don't regret buying it for $80 CAD when it first came out. I've spent thousands if hours on it, so it was well spent.
@Maccer from the north Definitely! All of the CC Content, plus new, unreleased CC Content. That's a lot of stuff, and it's pretty good quality (well not the quests, but the items). I'll be getting it Day 1, no doubt, it's just an upgrade, not a whole new version.
I've had this preordered since they announced it. Thank you for uploading footage! Comment section is just as divisive as I imagined for a remaster. If you don't like it. Don't buy it. Why mouth off about something that is set in stone? Your words have no effect on the studio, on the people whom have preordered, or the the people on the fence about picking it up. This game is what? Five years old? Ever stop to think this remaster also enables an entire new generation of gamers to experience a magnificent masterpiece? I STILL get goosebumps from the soundtrack alone. I can't wait to play a week from today with my speakers set to "DEAFEN MY NEIGHBORS!"
Obama 5 Donkey and that's why you got it free because you've experienced updated graphics and mods already, this is for console players because we can't play mods (real mods) yet. Also if you really only see a higher contrast you must be blind, there is a huge improvement in detail and mostly better lighting.
True everyone that still have the original version of the X360 and PS3 , can make it to look exactly similar to the Special Edition version , If you have a HDTV, you Just need to Go to the HDR settings and Activate It. And then the lightning , shadows and saturation Will look Very close to the Special Edition version .
I've always loved how the clouds gather around the mountains. Replayed Oblivion with mods earlier this year, can't wait to revisit this and listen to that great soundtrack.
I guess you have to have a fine eye for detail. If you honestly can't see the improvements, that is fine and all. Play the version you prefer. But I really do enjoy and notice the detail differences. The lighting is great especially, and sire you could get all that with mods on the PC version, which I play exclusively. But I am still excited with this newer and updated version. Would I have payed extra to get it? Yes, personally. But they knew allot of people wouldn't do that on PC so they gave it away if you already had the full version before. More options. Good stuff.
Meh. It's an OK upgrade. Better lighting and some very slightly better textures. Disappointing when you know how great it can look with PC mods. Missed opportunity. I'll stick with the PC version.
Soul Mystique Yeah, but the PC base game with mods looks better than this and mostly runs fine. I suppose this version is good for people with low-end PCs.
Film Rant This version is objectively better for all people. 64 bit framework and DX11 essentially means no achievable Vram limit, so you can fully utilize even a Titan XP to its full potential on this remake. There isn't a single mod that can do that. This is the objectively superior version of the game, discounting outside input. No amount of mods could make OG Skyrim as competent as this new version. It's not about looks. It's about how it runs while it looks good.
I don't care what people think. I'm getting it. because it's skyrim, aka one of my favorite games. I haven't played it in awhile, so why not buy it for current generation with updated visuals? It's not like they're asking $200,
having played both versions i have a ingame perspective, due to youtubes compression it does take away some details in the graphics. But i'd just like to let you guys know that the "Yellow" tint isn't there always, that tint is just because of the sun, the special edition has a much more saturated warmer colour, i've been in areas where it's very gloomy and dark like a tim burton film, i've been in winterhold and it is very white and grey, and i went to the rift where it's very brown and orange as a perpetual autumn. Special Edition has this more Fantasy looking graphics which is fitting where as the original is more realistic (which is weird it's a fantasy game). but either way it's all based on what you want in the game, i personally love both of them but special edition has got some neat little subtle features in the base game without worrying about a mod author updating or maintaining it, as well as the fact the game is Much more stable and loads so much faster.
It's a good thing they didn't call it a remaster. Doesn't hold a candle to the treatment the original Gears of War received. Now, that was a remaster. Here, nothing really jumps out at you about the graphical improvements (gameplay is the same and untouched, expected as much). It's only when you look for said improvements, you start to take notice. The water looks better and things look the tiniest bit sharper
Toaster its not a 2016 game though its a nearly 6 year old game that's been remasters and they are not like modders that have all the time in the world to comb over fine details Bethesda have to work on multiple projects for stockholders if the spent for ever remastering this game the investors would be pissed and any new projects they started working on would take another 4 years to finish.
I really like the tint, better shadows, better lighting, and espeicially the depth of feild effect, but its defentally not a high enough resolution or graphics to be worth a remaster imo
I'm convinced the biggest difference between last gen graphics and current gen is Physically Based Rendering. Without PBR, everything looks like pseudo plastic.
chaz Davis im nearly 100% sure your saying that just to hate on the game. There is no way the 360 version looks better. The remaster has upgraded textures, enhanced lighting, and just so much more visual updates.
Baby Jesus There's certain shots where the 360 looks better. Some might be my preference also, but in those opening ones what's up with the orange tint; I'm all for bloom but not on the entire screen.
I agree.. I don't care if the textures are slightly better or if the lighting uses more advanced technologies, but that opening scene just doesn't feel right. It looks so iconic in vanilla, with its colder color palette, and in remaster it's just utter over-bloomed trash. And believe me, I'm not hating on the game just for the sake of hating. I'm getting it for free on Steam anyway. But I gotta say, I wouldn't pay a single dollar for this sloppy new version.
Vulpes Inculta it's the time of day. I've seen other playthrough of the remaster, and it's only that colour palette at sunrise or sunset. It's still very blur and stark otherwise.
i don't get why in the remaster when you look off in the distance the water textures are still paused at 2:15, you would think that would have been something upgraded. If we're going to be able to look at a ton of stuff across the map it should look a lot better
also they better replace that old game engine, i can't believe they used it in fallout 4, even know the graphics were an upgrade it doesn't look like a modern game
I do love how the sun’s light filters through the trees.. but that’s about it. I put 700+ hours into Skyrim and the best part of it all was the cold winter feel. They took that away!
So excited to have mod support I got an Xbox because sadly Bethesda games perform poorly on Sonys console I would have gotten it for the ps4 possibly though if it had legit mod support
I wish I could afford to pick up an xbox one :(((( I might just suck it up and buy it on ps4. I could still have fun with the little amount of mods I'll have.
+Kaumak if you get an amazon free trial you can have it shipped and arrives day of release and you get 20% off . Thats what im doing. At least youll still get moee hrs out of this vs other 60$ titles
Even when you have them side by side you can still appreciate how good the Xbox 360 version looked for its time. But I can't wait to get my hands on remastered. I feel like it's going to pull me right back in. I was addicted to skyrim and I can't wait to relapse. Lol
Huzi37709 With VERY limited you mean no mods right? Because I have a PS4 too and they said that Mods aren't going to be a thing for the PS4 because Sony is being a dick
Sony now claims limited mods. Switch looks like the old gen quality graphics, looks like its watered down on the Switch. I think the best dela is going to XB1 and PC because I doubt Nintendo will allow any mod support, and Sony with limited support will make fans neglected.
The Special Edition may not be a huge leap over the original, but it already looked really good on consoles before. And I'm just glad that it runs smoother and has faster load times.
It would have been nice to have some commentary. Mostly because I like to hear you two talk but also because it's hard to watch a video this quiet lol Love you guys!!!!
My love of skyrim will definitely make me rebuy it for XB1. I don't care what people say. Me reliving the epic battles and scenes with a new colorful and beautiful skin (plus some mods) will make it so much better for me to play. (Of course I'm gonna play through everything first in vanilla to get the achievements but my third or second run will definitely have mods to liven up the exploration)
Luyan Jesus Christ, I just realized how dumb my first comment was. I geuss I meant to say that I already own a modded, better looking Skyrim, and that I wasn't going to play the remaster. I also know from experience already that you can mod pirated games (fallout 4 most recently).
They sell it for full price on consoles, since it's released now on xbone and ps4. It adds 64bit from 32bit and an updated creation engine. This means that ''your skyrim on pc'' will look way better and should run way better thanks to these additions.
I love how they made the floral areas look warm, and the frigid areas look cold. It seems more "noisy" in a good way. It's "full" like the environment should be. Things do not look as clunky, or hard. The distance is better, the taste is better, the movement doesn't seem as scratchy. Over-all I think it's worth the money, especially since you can play it on your new consoles.
I'll get it just so I can play on my xbox 1 and maybe add some mods, but it doesn't look much better than the original. Maybe it will have fewer glitches/faster loads on a more powerful device?
I finally got around to buy Special Edition. It was always hard for me to justify buying it when I already played the shit out of the original 360 version. I hate buying games more than once. But I legit missed playing Skyrim. It took up a huge chunk of my time back in the day. So I finally bit the bullet and bought it. I came looking for comparison videos to see how much of an improvement it was. It's not actually a HUGE improvement, but it's enough. I can safely say I dislike the warming tint everything has. That's one of the first mods I'm throwing on. Give me the old blue tint back.
I'm actually surprised how well the 360 holds up for an 11 year old console. I'm still playing the Bone version day one, though.
exactly my thoughts after watching the video.
people keep saying pc this pc that, some people cant afford a PC that can run high quality graphics and run the game perfectly..
LordSeth why are you comparing a PC and a console for?
I'll be playing the PS4 Pro version day 1 (that the console launches). We get crap mods (which fortunately I'm not interested in), but the better looking and running Skyrim in 4K. I'll get a Scorpio too when it launches but will be done with Skyrim permanently, by then. I agree though, Skyrim looked pretty decent even on the 360 though. Held up okay.
Not even the open cities mod???
The yellow tint really messes with the cold feel of the original.
Mattias Fleischer I agree it'll be interesting to see how it feels when we get our hands on it
Mattias Fleischer Definitely agree. The new lighting looks way too over-the-top. At least in all the videos I've seen.
Mattias Fleischer i agree with you there, but at least it makes everything feel more fantasy like, ya know?
Yeah, skyrim looks warm and humid with all the red lighting in the outdoor scenes.
I think that might have been a time of day/weather effect going on at the time they recorded.
Gamers are so entitled.
free is a godd price for me.
Well you're only paying 60 if you are getting it on console.
PC gets it free if you already have everything.
I personally think it is worth 40... But I'll let it slide because they really did good.
Yeah I know, I get it for free on steam. :D
Unlucky Naariv You only get it free if u have ALL the Dlcs
I am kind of amazed how good it still looks on the 360. When this first came out the graphics were simple amazing.
Yeah just sohe rework on the textures and done
Why doesn't anybody appreciate the detail in the distance?
Because they're just high settings. That's what PC had from the start
on pc even on ultra the Ugridstoload os like 4 you have to go in the .ini and change it to 9 or way higher
Because people don't like to look ahead.
I wouldn't know since i haven't been able to play skyrim on ultra yet. No gpu yet :/
if you have a newish cpu you might be surprised how well a intergrated gp chip will work
yes, yes. it looks better. but $60 better. no way.
Bob K apparently load times were decreased too
Bob K since when is it $60? It's like $30 mate
MrToastedCrumpet in the US it's $60
im only paying 51$ on amazon.
Free on PC X)
I played this at 480p on PS3 in 2012 and it looked like shit. This looks phenomenal and even the X360 version looks so much better than the trash ass PS3 version.
Is it just me or is even the 720p ps3 version garbage? The 360 looks so good compared to what i played on.
Yeah... PS3 was pretty sad, and I still played 200 hours.
I have sink 300+ hours in both versions and i assure you the ps3 version is identical visually(in some instances is even slightly better due to the higher contrast on ps3) The Xbox 360 was the (way) better console version because the ps3 runs the game like an absolute SHIT!
Hell yeah, after your save size got to high the game literally became unplayable
Skyrim only runs at 720p on consoles with no upscaling. The game also still has the save file issue and save files over 10mb will have serious issues. I don't know why you're making stuff up.
I'm just happy I get to play skyrim on my X1/PS4. Love Skyrim!!
CoolRex87 hell yea m8, graphics are the least of my worries.
CoolRex87 agreed
CoolRex87 Same here. Why is everyone just so full of shit? Can't they just enjoy the game no matter the console?
CoolRex87 Same here bud
Leonardo Zia Modern gamers are negative about everything it seems nowadays. Never satisfied.
If I had an Xbox one I would buy this
Are you going to buy the Nintendo Swich version? You can play it anywhere (even on the toilet)!!
30fps tho
Afro Jack 30fps on consoles. It's been confirmed.
Afro Jack Current gen consoles aren't very powerful :/
I'm quite disappointed tbh. Like, the water and stuff looks good, but they make it look as though it's set in the middle of summer. They took away that blue hue that gave it that cold winter-ish feel.
Raven AqLk for real
Raven AqLk Skyrim: Global Warming
yeah it looks like trash imo
And tbh as a PC gamer I am super spoiled...even though my PC is shitty i can mod Vanilla way better than the remastered edition...although my Pc might not even be able to run the Remaster very well...i wouldn't be too disappointed. i bet people already work on mods to get that yellow filter out of there!
Ikr!
The draw distance is noticeably better and the water texture and effects look great too.
The water is the only thing that looks exactly the same to me.
Holy shi- Ahhh,
Anthony Saunders Lol, I said you would
+Vegito Charmara You just got your 200th subscriber.
But is it worth $60 dollars.
So it's basically maxed PC settings with a yellow tint.. Interesting.
BrazzersNL they just overhyped it, you know? It's not really fair to console players to charge em full price.
700+ hours on 360 and another 200+ on PC
it runs slightly better (as in no crashes) on console. PC has much higher frame-rate, far more mods, AND much better graphics (with mods)
this is the game that made me build a PC...
***** It offers no improve ments though, only higher graphics settings. The whole thing is a scam.
***** Well on PC we have had this stuff for ages, I'm assuming this is why we are getting it for free
Dylan Coulbeck what’s the frames per second?? I know I’m dropping way below 30 ALL the time on my 360!! And are the load times noticeably better??
John Lacy im kinda late, but the game runs at a pretty stable 30 fps. Even with mods as big as beyond skyrim bruma it holds up
@@stillamitchinmybook6320 expect crashes still, atleast with mods
Anyone else think that gamers pessimism is at an all time high.
Yes. And it's fucking annoying.
maybe because skyrim was a boring as fuck game just like fallout4? and maybe because bethesda just copy/pasted the game on a next gen console disc and tried to resell it for 60 fucking dollars with literally nothing changed? Bethesda couldnt be fucked remastering morrowind or oblivion because it would actually take some fucking effort outside updating the look of a game.
cut myself on the edge, and then salt was poured inside the cut it seems
Exactly what I meant
If anything this video really helps us appreciate just how great the game looked originally in 2011 on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The fact that those consoles, then over 5 years old each, could run such a great-looking game at a fairly solid 30 frames per second it's honestly quite amazing.
the 360 was quite powerful tbh
I don't get why this is a full priced game considering that the graphics are only marginally better and they put minimal effort into it
yeah they should have it like 40 or 20 the price is not worth it
it also has Mod support and comes with all the DLC
***** I don't understand why they are not just remaking it like COD, the bethesda first disappoint me with skyrim remaster and then Ubisoft make assassin's creed trilogy remaster? They are dumb.
Maybe they're planning on making new Expansions for it.
Nope, no new content.
I love how the game music only plays when the Xbox One graphics are shown.
It needs the compensation for the fact that it doesn't impress. Mods that work better than this exist
a remake of oblivion would be worth the $60. most people had their skyrim looking better than this 2 years ago.
wow it's a huge difference... didn't expect such a big graphical gap between the two in terms of detail and better shaders
Added warmer filter and few high-res textures and selling like a new game. Wow today's gaming rocks
Not even high res textures.
Just a yellow tint and increased graphical values, such as more foliage.
BrazzersNL not everyone who owns n it gets it for free again.
Not exactly make it free, they should really stop doing this shit. Sell it at a base price of $30. But this isn't surprising by Bethesdumb's standards
getting mine for free on pc. Going to put texture mods on it, too, and still run it better than the xbone and ps4. Sorry plebs
***** So you say.
But that's literally everything console is about.
Every few years, you buy better graphics.
Fun fact: When the video started I though "Oh Skyrim used to look like crap", then I realized that first shot was of the new special edition. I guess that's what happens when you've had Skyrim in PC for years hahaha
Edit: Guys guys, hold your horses, this is not a comment to shit on consoles, I think both consoles and PC have their pros and cons and I use them both. Stop acting like kids thinking that you need to marry with one console and hate on all of the others. That's stupid.
Neoshenlong Yeah these enb's have really spoiled me lmao.
Tren Kokoko I know what you mean when the game looks like this:
www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/79218/?
That's how I played both Morrowind and Oblivion, during summer holiday, just lost myself into those worlds completely.
whats up with that yellow tint ? it isn't looking good.
Arpit Johari the yellow tint is the lighting and it's one of the best parts
Meme Lord its the worst actually makes the scenery looks like it has dirt all over it. fog of dirt. original game had grey tint to it remaster has yellow and orange tint to it now.
Arpit Johari, I don't know why you feel like it looks like dirt lol. The game looks clean and sharp and the yellow tint makes it look even better
Meme Lord in some different lighting scenes that tint is oversaturated quite a bit where there is already quite a lot of orangeness in scenery that's what i think is too much. rest scenes looks awesome.
Arpit Johari The grey always made me feel depressed while playing. Morrowind and Oblivion were more vibrant. I'm happy with the vibrance.
So the graphical changes look to be:
More vegetation
More rocks on the ground
slightly better LOD
Better (but still terrible) water textures
yellow tint
**slow clap**
Exidrial how is the water textures shit???
kieran macdonald
I've seen much better in games before, plus it still has that unrealistic flow.
Much higher resolution.
New textures.
Volumetric lighting.
New effects.
Screen-space reflections.
New snow and water.
And then of course there will be mods(which I've had on PC, but nice for console users).
Can't wait for my new copy.
MercilessHobo
The HD texture pack had higher resolution textures as well, they still looked like crap because Bethesda did a terrible job.
The lighting effects alone are reason enough not to be a vampire
This is a little underwhelming. Definitely an improvement, of course, but is it enough to justify paying for the entire game again? No I don't think so.
pups kopf weaker mod support
I havent had any problem with mods, not after I got the update that allows hundreds of mods run at the same time, without the game's memory getting full, crashing the game. Overall its ofc good visual update + limited mod support for console gamers, but this adds no-value to PC gamers...then again if you already own the game + DLCs on PC, its entirely free, but I dont see why you should update to it, if you already have mods running without any trouble.
Maybe not , but the mods are worth returning for if you're on console.
Vincent Bédard So you're paying for mod support when it's supposed to be free? :/
luctuosus.c Well ,it's either that or buying a pc that can run skyrim with max graphics and with some mods.
Doesn't look much different. Lazy remaster if you ask me.
Yeh kinda just seems like a cash grab.
I'd recommend specsavers ;-)
ahh pc
Obi Alfred best part of the remaster is the upgraded engine. Can't wait to not have to deal with vram issues with modded skyrim!
It looks massively different.
4:15 that sun ray tho omg. thanks for posting :)
That's not a very good remaster.
Brand new price tag for the same exact game with new lighting.
look at the textures and newly added models; keep in mind its a remaster not a remake.
it does come with all the dlc though...but still not worth it especially when xbox has BC, they should give us a choice....but a remaster is just a cash grab.
It was a great idea making the sky more blue in SE. Nothing better than really blue skies in video games.
atlast, i found you
I prefer the cooler palate of the 360 version. It seems to have a better contrast whereas the One version has a yellow wash over the picture.
I mean, when they are side to side you can tell there is a difference, but I honestly thought that the first shot was xbox 360 and not xbox one. The upgrade just isn't worth 60$, 40$ would be much more appropriate.
RS4NOTEVARR you're not just paying for better graphics u realize that? you're paying for all the dlc and the new mod support which is gonna be amazing
Just buy it used at gamestop/cex.
Don't we have a right to share our opinions?
you have, its just painfully boring to read
Che Maira Just as boring as reading every positive feedback though
***** Negative feedback: "This looks like crap, not worth anywhere near $50"
Positive feedback: "This looks so cool, can't wait to play it on Xbox One"
Get it now?
i know i think the yellow tint is beatiful but this bitch ass whiners have to cry about it because they have no taste and expect every game to look 100x better than real life
2:48 So they removed Ralof, definitely makes the game look better :)
Ralof is babe
Really like the video :) keep up the great work
it's an improvement. not by much though. the DOF definitely saves it, but it looks way to warm. if you look at some of the tree cinematics it looks super humid.
Luke Ryba Don't forget that this is a UA-cam video. compression happens and makes it look crappier
To me the only difference is the lighting.
Cullum Mckenzie Well your eyesight is garbage lmao
The trees look better. Better shadows and waters are quite noticable. More rubble on the ground. As well as more random plants around. Let's not even start on the depth of field.
You might want to put some glasses on or something because Bethesda has definitely made some upgrades to not only textures, but draw distances, lighting, improved DoF, more clutter and items, water effects, and shadow improvements. At the very least there is a 100% improvement on the visuals, not to mention, the game's executable is now 64-bit performance. So there's quite a bit in what Bethesda's done with the overall enhancement.
*Insert butt-hurt unnecessarily hostile comment here*
Look at the far distant mountains at 0:35. is that lightning as well?
So many people saying it doesnt look different. You have to keep in mind that it also has mod support so even if it doesnt look different to you now, you can still make it how you want when visual upgrade mods are developed.
Broba Fett exactly I agree wit u
dont forget about the fps the prettier it looks the shittier its going to run and they havent even talked about FPS at all wich concerns me rather have it at 60 fps now and run 30 with pretty mods u feel me.
Lesane can't you download werewolf mods too?
there is no skse yet so there won't be many good mods
A Really Bored Kinda Guy I hope they at least put werewolf mods
I've fucking finally found you two! It has been so bloody long. Really cool to finally see you again. Haha, feels like meeting an old friend.
I've been qwatching your channel since 2012! Loved you guys then and still do! Keep it up!
Can Bethesda please learn how to make great games *without* frame rate drops?! Cos damn they always have issues with framerate :/ fallout was an absolute mess and this is just the same
Get a PC
Giedrius911G I have a PC
kangee
What's the specs? Turn off AA. It doubles the fps. Keep FXAA on.
This is not a PC vs console thing, this is a about the fact that Bethesda cannot make graphically heavy games run smoothly while practically all other game developers makes absolutely beautiful, visually stunning games that run perfectly on all platforms, Bethesda needs to get their shit together
They have the buggiest game of all time.
The lip syncing is hugely superior!
Skyrim on 360 was so epic at the time for me. When I started playing the Remaster on Xbone my initial impression was, "This doesnt look any different. It still looks amazing." Then I watch this. *jaw drops* ❤
Not really worth the $60 on console.
I think the original looks good cause you can feel that cold atmosphere in skyrim ._.
Thanks for this! Only guys besides official channels with actual gameplay.
IraqUpBeaches "official channels"
5 years ago I though it looked good, I've been playing the special edition on xbox one and it really is beautiful
Hey, you play Xbox still?
I heard you wanted Skyrim Special Edition early, it's simple, just change your TV's contrast!
Obama 5 Donkey if that's the only difference u see then u need to get your eyes checked out. plus you get all dlcs and mods
Peasants would be mad. We had all the DLC and mods on skyrim 5 years ago
@Complete Gaming there's a reason to that
I've always loved how the clouds gather around the mountains.
Good stuff.
I could just close my eyes and listen to the scenery and music play it's lovely
They're both gorgeous
people expecting a huge overhaul, no m8 its an xbox one not a fucking custom built $1000000000000000000 machine
5:53 What the hell?? It looks like a goddamn sandstorm hit Skyrim!
The Abrupt Hero it’s just the sun
I like the blue cold feeling in the original more. The SE is too colourful.
Meh. It's an OK upgrade. Better lighting and some very slightly better textures. Disappointing when you know how great it can look with PC mods. Missed opportunity. I'll stick with the PC version.
This is going to be on PC :V
'Disappointing' is an understatement.
I think you're the Nth person I've explained this to on the internet :V
I don't care what people think. I'm getting it. because it's skyrim, aka one of my favorite games. I haven't played it in awhile, so why not buy it for current generation with updated visuals? It's not like they're asking $200,
That awkward moment when the original Skyrim still has better graphics than the remastered with just a few mods...
having played both versions i have a ingame perspective, due to youtubes compression it does take away some details in the graphics.
Mod for Pc Skyrim reshade 2012. Low Preset
It really does look like a lightly modded skyrim from when it was released ;.;
I can see a small difference, definitely not worth 60 tho, good thing I'm getting it for free
Toaster Same I am too
Toaster pc master race :)
Indecisive Isaac Let me put it this way, for a 2016 game the graphics could be a lot better
Toaster its not a 2016 game though its a nearly 6 year old game that's been remasters and they are not like modders that have all the time in the world to comb over fine details Bethesda have to work on multiple projects for stockholders if the spent for ever remastering this game the investors would be pissed and any new projects they started working on would take another 4 years to finish.
thegamingnerd 123 cool story bro
oh my GOD. at 2:26 i got hit with a HUGE nostalgia rush. the soundtrack is so good! playing this game was like meditation!
I really like the tint, better shadows, better lighting, and espeicially the depth of feild effect, but its defentally not a high enough resolution or graphics to be worth a remaster imo
Ive played Skyrim on ps3 and a shit laptop with minimal graphics settings just for comparison btw
it still looks super last gen is what i'm trying to say
I'm convinced the biggest difference between last gen graphics and current gen is Physically Based Rendering. Without PBR, everything looks like pseudo plastic.
sure you didnt label it wrong? the 360 looks better than xboxone...
chaz Davis im nearly 100% sure your saying that just to hate on the game.
Baby Jesus Im aware its suppose to looks better its just in the video it doesnt to me in a few shots
If it was 20 bucks cheaper I'd pick it up. Ill wait for a sale
good thing im getting it for free :D
same...
Oswald only had to pay a few hundred more dollars than console owners to get it free! What a deal!
Mister Scrotus 30$ today only
My wife just picked me up a copy for $25 as well. Got to love black friday sales.
People say it's not worth the $60. But did any of you stop to consider the fact that this includes all 3 expansion packs? Well worth it.
all DLCs have been available through previously released Legendary Edition as well....and you can get that at much cheaper price....just saying....
I live in Asda, its a good life
Nathaniel Larkin you can get the legendary edition for 15 bucks at gamestop
You can get the legendary edition for any system on G2A for about 10 USD.
Or £28 at Smyths
i don't get why in the remaster when you look off in the distance the water textures are still paused at 2:15, you would think that would have been something upgraded.
Surprisingly, it still looks great on the 360
I don't care what people say but I think Bethesda did a good job on remastering one of my first and favourite games I have ever played. 😊
At least youll still get moee hrs out of this vs other 60$ titles
yeah just make a separate save for mod fun
Almost Smart Are you from 2006? Bethesda games run better on PS4. They just shit with mod support.
+Jon Smith but what if you want to download mods for immersion at the start of the gane? guess no achievements for me then
glad to know that the game will still play well and look amazing on my xbox-360
This makes you really appreciate Skyrim special edition without mods
When comparing, you can really tell how dull it looked last gen.
Even when you have them side by side you can still appreciate how good the Xbox 360 version looked for its time. But I can't wait to get my hands on remastered. I feel like it's going to pull me right back in. I was addicted to skyrim and I can't wait to relapse. Lol
DAT LOOK GOOD!
***** DAT LOOK GOOD!
ANGRY ARMY!!!!
i should start a wolf army
Lol
a companion army
This is a great video, that really shows the differences of the graphics!
The depth of field effect on the remaster does the trick!!💓💓
Yellow tint destroys atmosphere
is that why everything look so foggy?
I mean, you can tell which is Xbox One, besides for the first shot, but it's not really that great of a remaster
It's not a remaster
Eeh, I'll wait for the switch version. Besides, I have ps4 and the mods are VERY limited on that version...
Huzi37709 With VERY limited you mean no mods right? Because I have a PS4 too and they said that Mods aren't going to be a thing for the PS4 because Sony is being a dick
Trusty Patches No there are going to be mods now but the mod creators can only use assets from inside the game. :/
Just to add on, same goes for Fallout 4. But Skyrim will have it sooner.
Metalks I know... Let's just hope Nintendo isn't as grubby as Sony.
Very overhyped. Not worth the full price unfortunately.
No he's not an idiot. Look at this so called 'remaster'. There is very little noticable difference and it is a huge dissapointment
Will Jones Huge graphical difference , its free , 64bit and directx 11 . Sounds good to me
They don't even show the Oblivion gates. -6/10
Sean Legghette from a quick glance at your picture I'd suspect you're a weeaboo. Anything you post is now invalid.
It's only free if you own all the dlc
And people are complaining this looks the same. Maybe on PS4 but not on Xbone
Fanboy
PR0T0TYP3 how is he a fanboy?
blue
"Maybe on PS4 but not on Xbone"
??? that doesn't prove that hes fanboying
Look at the PS4 graphics and tell me that it looks better. It is universally known that Bethesda games are shit on PlayStation
I'd rather keep playing on the 360
Same
360 version still holds up to this day
My love of skyrim will definitely make me rebuy it for XB1.
Pc gamers will get it for free if they have the legendary edition... Pirates will get it for free anyway...
Antonio Ocanas I don't think anybody will be pirating this, I'd much rather have a modded (better looking) Skyrim legendary edition, for 20 bucks.
Stfu idiot even if i have these shity console never would pay 60$ for this shit bethesda robbing peasants nice^ :D
Look at The Witcher 3 that game is worth 60$ even if they downgrade graphics for console peasants still look excellent then any other open world rpg.
You can still mod pirated games.
Luyan Jesus Christ, I just realized how dumb my first comment was. I geuss I meant to say that I already own a modded, better looking Skyrim, and that I wasn't going to play the remaster. I also know from experience already that you can mod pirated games (fallout 4 most recently).
The piss filter doesn't quite mask the janky bethsoft animations.
to be honest it looks like they just added some mods ... i mean it looks kinda like my skyrim on pc and they sell that full price?
thats why pc players get it for free...
They sell it for full price on consoles, since it's released now on xbone and ps4. It adds 64bit from 32bit and an updated creation engine. This means that ''your skyrim on pc'' will look way better and should run way better thanks to these additions.
You gotta think about they also added all the DLC's so with them added it adds up to $60.
Ragnar Lordbrok Its full price cause it has shitton of content
Jada Evans they did that with legendary edition on last generation
What the hell, i feel like they just increased depth of field and called it a remaster. Lol
Maybe it will have fewer glitches/faster loads on a more powerful device?
mods are gonna be fantastic. already have a list that im gonna be running.
I've always wanted to play Skyrim with snapchat filters.
This makes me so happy, thank you Bethesda
I finally got around to buy Special Edition. It was always hard for me to justify buying it when I already played the shit out of the original 360 version. I hate buying games more than once.
But I legit missed playing Skyrim. It took up a huge chunk of my time back in the day. So I finally bit the bullet and bought it.
I came looking for comparison videos to see how much of an improvement it was. It's not actually a HUGE improvement, but it's enough. I can safely say I dislike the warming tint everything has. That's one of the first mods I'm throwing on. Give me the old blue tint back.
Can't stand yellow tint in games...Why do devs think it makes it look better...Aside from aliasing, the 360 version looks better in a lot of ways.
like if Skyrim is the best
