As a Bryan main, looking at him in a vacuum I think he's great. He's lost a lot of really important tools (CH launch northern cross, mach kick and magic 4) but he's gained some really great stuff. Qcb1 is just insane it's such a good move, safe qcf1+2 as a heat engager is incredible and the followup to 3+4 is awesome, even if the charge version is a bit of a gimmick. What should also be mentioned which I haven't seen any Bryan mains talk about is all his combos leave the opponent closer after screw, so having some short timings to finish your combo after a max damage route pre-screw is a thing of the past. They've also cleaned up his grab inputs which is great and saves precious time. Removing his power crush from ff2 is a strange change but all in all he's very good. I think the issue people have is when you take him out of that vacuum and compare him with the top tiers, but to me that's just a balancing issue. All in all I'm very happy with this version of Bryan. The only things I would change would be: Northern cross doesn't make sense being -10 with no followup on CH. Make it safe or give a guaranteed soccer kick on CH. F3 range has been nerfed, it often whiffs right in the opponents face. Restore the range which was already short. Make magic 4 a CH launcher via heat burst. In a game all about aggression he has no fast launchers. This has always been a Bryan issue and it's part of his identity which is why M4 was locked behind execution. Restore power crush to ff2. Thats my wishlist. It keeps him more or less the same but helps him in areas that don't mess with the essence of T8 Bryan. Thanks for reading my novel
as a tekken emperor bryan player, the only thing he needs is ff4 counterhit launching. He needs a way to blow people up for sidestep buttons and qcb1/1+2 are not good enough. 1+2 because it doesnt launch and qcb1 because you can step it. Thats the only vacuum left in his gameplan that didnt get filled by a changed move

I don't think there was really any reason to get rid of so many CH options. If you're getting rid of all the magic 4s then fair enough but Mach kick and Northern Cross were so important for Bryan. And given Northern Cross is unsafe on block for how little it does, seems very silly to me. Make it safe in its current state or make it a CH launcher again. But Mach kick being gone is a huuuuuge nerf for Bryan.
I may add ss1 as well. Before it could be used as launcher, but now it’s only useful on CH. +15 on CH but forces crouch so you can only uf2,2,2,3 or f2,1,4. At least give us something on hit instead of CH
As a new tekken player, and I say that because all my 51 hours on tekken 7 is in practice mode with king, and victor main, I tried bryan and he's definitely not as easy to pick up/find the bread n butter. Then again, my victor is still orange rank, so overall game knowledge is not fully there.
Bryan is as easy to pick up as any other char in the game. You learn the basics: the block and whiff punishers, combos, frame traps, your own situations. This is universal and Bryan isn't any special here. The only hard thing Bryan has is taunt but you don't need to worry about it unless you're playing in the highest level: around top 0.1% of players: GOD rank, competitive pre-tournament and tournament levels. Then yeah, the taunt is hard to do and what makes the character broken in the hands of people who can do it, or who just macro it online.

These are all hard fundamentals to master. You dont even need taunt in the higher levels its just too risky. You also have to consider that you can't buffer the qcf or qcb into his stance moves, so using repeated hatchet kicks and things like that will also be more difficult for beginners

Bryan preys on different timings, but with characters easily going 100 to 0 back to 100 in an instant in T8, fishing for CHs requires a lot more work. Everyone's in T8 while Bryan's still in T7.5. Pretty sure Ty hates how tedious Bryan is in T8.

On paper, Bryan is good, but his matchups just feel like a lot of work, especially since he depends on timings and reads. i found it a bit funny that Aris originally thought Drag was going to become the loser of Tekken 8 for having barely any new moves when most of Drag's new moves are completely asinine considering his kit. meanwhile Bryan's new kit is fun but it's only really combo damage and wall gimmicks and doesn't add anything to his game, aside from qcb1 being pretty busted he's just the same character as Tekken 7

You have to work for his combo damage. His wall pressure is pretty much the same as 7, with only the addition of 3+4, 2 which is pretty much more gimmicky than strong.
