Yes. I feel this way more that ever seeing how some upcoming cast changes happen at time in the storyline where I would have liked to see the person who played 99% of the story play it out a little longer.
Yes, I know, Kate Mulgrew will always be the definitive Mary Ryan Fenelli. However, I always appreciated what Louise Schaffer (Rae) said to the effect in an interview about their being a lot of talented actresses who tried to fill the role but it just wasn't the same. I get the knee jerk reaction is to say "Oh she was terrible..." etc., etc., but 'she' was a working actress who was offered a job by a network who wanted to preserve the character and did the best she could with what she was given. And I must say having watched all three actresses who took over the role - of Carney, Toland and Goulet, Carney works the best for me.
She quit after 2 years when her contract expired. She could have left even early if they hadn't agreed to write the baby in the show since Kate Mulgrew was really pregnant.
Kathleen Tolan is horrible and Nicolette Goulet always just seemed pissed off all the time, lol. This new Mary is the only other Mary that I thought was even close to Kate Mulgrew and even then, she wasn't anywhere near her.
honestly and this is just my opinion but Kate Mulgrew is the true and only Mary Ryan . But the only replaceable Mary Ryan that I ever liked is Nicoletter Goulette and I like both Faith Actresses
The show gives Kate Mulgrew a free trip to Ireland, and Kate shows her gratitude by quitting the show the minute the trip was over. Abc, and viewers were none too happy with Kate, & Mulgrew never had the career success she might have, if she stayed loyal. Kate basically left them in the lurch & having to scramble for a replacement at the busiest time of the year. I believe this was still taped in 1977 with them frantically trying to bank shows to go on Christmas break.
Her contract was lasting 2 years and when it was over she decided to move on from soap. In fact, from what I recall from an interview with Claire Labine they wanted to write off Mary when Kate quit. Then ABC wanted to keep the character. History of television would have been quite different if Kate'd stayed at Ryan's Hope. Very probably she would have been an amazing soap actress now, but I wouldn't change her captain Janeway or any other roles with anything in the world.
Love that Delia finds Tom at Faith's house. No, Johnny don't send her back to the hospital again to look for Pat
These Irish honeymoon scenes make me want to pack my bags and go to Ireland for two weeks. The country is magical and majestic.
Delia searching Riverside and enjoyed Delia's reaction to seeing Tom at Faith's house
Good casting: the new Mary sounds and looks something like Kate Mulgrew.
So glad Kate Mulgrew got to play the reconciliation with Jack.

Faith's hair looks nice.
I do like Mary Carney, though, because she's loving and sarcastic like Kate.
Mary Carney is doing a great job trying to emulate Kate’s mannerisms and style of speaking... so far, so good. 👌🏻
It's not the same, I WANT MARY BACK

The new Mary is a very good actress
Paddy needs me! No, he needs to be far away from you
All the episodes of Pat's withdrawal have been much better than the "Pat is high" scenes
Jack is just adorable with that baby.
I didn't realize that Kate Mulgrew left so early in the series run.

I can’t believe Kate Mulgrew left the show there will never be another Mary like her
Mary PTSD😭😭😭😭😭
Pat was great in this like Jill was
Jill's acting in that was so good I couldn't watch. I had to keep it quick, it hurt.
She IS quite good... much better than either Kathleen Tolan or Nicolette Goulet. She looks like she could be the sister of Siobhan #1 (Sarah Felder).
Kathleen Tolan is horrible and Nicolette Goulet always just seemed pissed off all the time, lol. This new Mary is the only other Mary that I thought was even close to Kate Mulgrew and even then, she wasn't anywhere near her.
Ucky Tom, please Faith.
Kate mulgrew is the only Mary I will accept

No one played Mary correctly except Kate Mulgrew.
lol correctly?
Finally. A new Mary!
I think she looks like she could be sisters with Katherine Hicks. (Faith).

Daytime70s that is terrible. I liked her but she annoyed me at times and I never thought she was good at the love scenes.

I agree, completely.
In the beginning of 1977, Kate notified abc she was leaving but would finish her storyline
What R U talking about, she stared in Star Trek, for many seasons, that's 10 times more money and better then doing a 2 bit Soap Opra
WTF?????????????? What happened to MARYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Jack's fake Irish accent is very annoying
Kate mulgrew is the only Mary I will accept
Kate don't Go!!!!!
I have some major adjusting to do.
