I keep seeming to forget how much I miss older formats. Prize lead, resource management, deck thinning, and board position all play major roles. At one or more points in this series, each one of them has a time where it's the most important factor in the game.

I LOVE this video. I’m new to playing the TCG and sometimes hear the V mechanic isn’t good for the format. Not knowing any comparisons, I never really understood that. Now that I see this, I can see how much more strategy is involved when there are less 3 prizers running around. ALSO, I remember watching your card sleeve / shuffling video and how you were so adamant about playing quickly. This explains everything. You are more than an entertainer. The clock is such bs in tourneys. It really needs a revision to give each player a set amount of time like how chess does it instead of a shared time limit that can be eaten up. If each player was delegated a set time limit for each game or for the match in total, you probably could have played out game 1 a bit longer to see if you could squeeze out a win.

@@TrickyGym oh absolutely I agree. Shaymin was huge, but so was trainers mail for digging for compressors so it really wasn't a legitimate deck until roaring skies. Additionally, bats based decks that night March struggled with like landy and toad didn't really make a big splash at Nationals so I think people then realized the coast was somewhat clear for worlds.

But by worlds enough decks had scared away bat decks and the loss of trump card limited the toad players.
