If you apply Early Decision and you are waitlisted, do you send an update letter ? Since it is obvious you are committed to that school? Or can you do a mix of an update/ your commitment to the school?

Hi Claire, yes you can send an update letter if your Early Decision program/MD program accepts these types of letters. Though it's obvious that it's your only program of choice, the update letter is more for your benefit. It may be used to update the school on something that can make the difference between accepting you and another applicant. Plus, by sending the letter you are also showing how serious you are about your choice and your dedication. Do not be shy to send an update letter if your program accepts them, even though it's clear that it's your only choice.

Hi! i got waitlisted from my dream med school in Australia and im receiving mixed advice on whether a letter of intent is advisable or not. i was thinking about sending one email to them, sort of a letter of intent combined with some aspects of showing an update to what i have been doing, no more than a page long. its been around a month since i got waitlisted and im intending on sending the email to them by next week. is it advisable to combined both letters into one? as i do not want to pester the admissions and have it reflect badly on me

Hi! Thanks so much for your question. You should send an update letter/letter of intent if your school accepts them. You can definitely put all the information you want to share into 1 letter.
