  • We honor and remember the victims of nuclear testing that took place in the Marshall Islands. From 1946 to 1958, the U.S. conducted 67 nuclear tests on Bikini and Enewetak atolls, forcing hundreds of islanders to leave their homes and causing others to suffer from the negative health effects from the radioactive fallout.

    Lyrics (English)
    Oooooh it's no good
It's that time of the year where we gather to commemorate those years of sorrow and sadness our ancestors went through
The poison made them sick inside and out
When they approached our islands from afar, they tested their harmful weapons without telling us there could be bad results
As they arrived on our shores, they promised us peace and that nothing could hurt us. Our ancestors left their lands putting all their hope in the hands of God
Oh how we wish it didn't happen like this.

This is gold! Best story told of the Marshallese nuclear legacy. in a song. I think translation is also needed here for the international audience. However, this song speaks louder than 67 nuclear explosions. Cinematography on point integrated with the harmonious vocals and music taking us, the audience in our own lens as if to actually walking the shoes of the victims and reliving the inhumane and heinous events of the 67 known nuclear testings including the worst nuclear bomb in mankind’s history conducted by the armed forces of the United States 1940s-1950s. A mourning legacy that will live and stay with the people of the Marshall Islands for eternity.
