I remember my first play through of FF6. Every side quest was completed and Kefka defeated. The only thing left for me to do was to cap out my characters at lv.99. Using the bonuses the Espers granted, I decided to create a league of mutant characters. I capped Sabin's vigor at 148, Setzer's stamina at 184, Shadow's speed at 146, and Terra's magic power at 167. Bosses became nothing more than random encounters with them. It was then that the wheels where set in motion for Emperor to be born.
It has 65,500 MP and a tremendous resistance to magic damage. Be aware that if somehow you managed to drop its MP to 0, it will then either steal yours or restore it's MP to full.
It's when he's down to 800,000HP, he uses Freezing Dust / Blaster combo which can wreck an unprepared party. He uses Ultima as a random interval during battle.
That's sweet, I'll wait for your video response. By the way, I would like you to rate my dragon from 1-5 stars. Also, post your thoughts on it's overall difficulty, what you liked or disliked about it, and if you'd like to see more. It could help push me into releasing a new challenge of this magnitude earlier this year.
Although equipping Locke with dual weapons and an Offering does hella more damage, not having a shield will lead to him taking a lot more physical damage fighting an enemy like this, especially if his Evade isn't particularly high.
This has to be one of the first hack videos I watched on YT and it is still around! I remember I got the dragon to about half HP, keeping track of damage, but could never beat it >.
I believe it is, although I don't remember its encounter rate. It is located in the snowy fields where the battle to defend Narshe from Kefka's troops took place.
The Emperor dragon drops Atma Weapons, so it as not a cheated run.please read the description,it makes a lot of arguments invalid and yes i know that my gramar is horrible, but thats because English is not my native speak
I always thought Quadra Slice was a waste of time, but I guess if you build a strat that involves your other 3 characters using long-winded attacks it can give you the time you need to build up the charge.
Just realized gogo would help mimic it too lol I hope the pixel remaster allows others to go when charging. Edit: it does (no atb bar and you choose from menu, waiting up to 10 seconds which animations exploit) though the game is so bad with glitches and censorship.
This was the first game I ever completed... and seeing the hacks being done I'm pretty happy about it. I know I could complete this challenge, is the game a hack itself or just this boss? I would love to play a more difficult version of this game, it's my favourite FF tied with good old 7. (I've played them all) Going to try with a Beserker party hahah, Gau rage mog dance Umaro and the other extra don't remember his name. J/k I doubt that would even be close to possible
I always thought that if there was one that deserves to stand next to 6, it would be 9. I actually just finished 6 this afternoon on my snes, and yea best one that I've played so far, haven't played 8, 9 or 12 yet.
"Wind God Gau" is a bug that can be exploited with Gau. It's much like the famous Psycho Cyan bug. One popular setup is to use the Merit Award to give him a Tempest, which randomly casts Wind Slash, and using a powerful Rage. The Wind Slash will make the effects of the Rage affect all enemies. This is often coupled with the four-strike attack of the Offering to devastating effect, particularly with the Stray Cat rage.
@shebakoby Some of them didn't have ribbon, because the relics used help them do more damage then Ultima. Yes Ultima is a guaranteed 9,999, however, Dragoon Boots / Dragoon Horns combination can strike up to 4 times and be guaranteed to do 19,998 to 39,996 a turn. Ultima also has a long animation sequence which can take several seconds to do 9,999 or 19,998 damage with Terra. But Offering / Genji Glove combination strikes up to 8 times and can do up to 47,890 to 67,360 per turn.
@LordEnvoy I ask this because it's a popular training method to go after the Intangir for quip ABP. Is that gone in this patch (which, I assume, spans the whole game)? If not, is it valid to train characters via these alternate means?
Wow, this is one tough dragon. Way too many strong magics and your party definitely has its challenge but it was a good video showcasing it. This is the only FF game where I enjoy a challenge. I hated doing any side quests to challenge really difficult bosses in future FF games.
Yes I made sure to cover every possibility when it comes to instant kills on a boss. It's immune to Psycho Cyan, Vanish/Doom, and Joker Doom. Virtually any instant death skill is moot against this boss.
Correct, buffing up your party is your best way to stay toe to toe with Emperor Dragon. Match it's speed with haste, defend yourself from its attacks with Safe, Shell and Float, and Slow it down to give yourself an advantage.
@TheShadowWolf91 "Wind God Gau" is a bug that can be exploited with Gau. It's much like the famous Psycho Cyan bug. One popular setup is to use the Merit Award to give him a Tempest which randomly casts Wind Slash, then you use a powerful Rage. The Wind Slash will make the effects of the Rage affect all enemies. This is often coupled with the four-strike attack of the Offering to devastating effect, particularly with the Stray Cat rage.
Man, I haven't played ff3/ff6 in a long time. I've still got my snes and ff3 cart in the closet and I even dumped it way back in the day, I ought to dig it out and see if I can't medal. So you created this boss, huh? No wonder I don't remember him from the game, lol! That's very cool.
@LordEnvoy It was tough, one question: i used slow on emperor dragon and im not even sure if it worked or not, is he immune to slow? personally i don't think the hack of Kaiser Dragon you made was really that tough, i beat him on my first try, Ultima did under 1000 damage (to be fair i was using big guard, but you know still)
nice gaming... are there two atma weapons on the game?? i think you should've equiped genji offering and 2 valiant knives on locke since he always have lower hp.. more damage then... and/or have him at lower hp and have some higher def had true knight to protect him from direct damages...
You must use the 1.1 rom for the patch to work properly. After soft patching, you can find the EmperorDrg in "Narshe" around the snowy fields where you once defended the frozen esper from Kefka.
So, from what I get from the document, it just copies Omega Weapon from FFVIA. If so, how east would it be to put Omega in FFVISNES? (That is, swiching the second UW's battle script with Omega's battle script)
sometime ago i have seen patches on bosses when they scan they have over millions of hp. is there a patch or something around that lets you give bosses tons of hp over the 65535 cap?
@wbyyo did you win with jocker's death? I don't remember if the Emperor is immune to it or not, but if it is effected by it, post it up as a video response assuming you have got it recorded. That would be one hell of a lucky win.
Yeah, you did good but i have a question. Why didn't you use Terra's Morph command earlier on in the fight? You would have dealt more damage with Dualcast/X-Magic that way.
@LordEnvoy holy crap thx the reason is because i wanna do the one million ho challenge too and i wanna be less than lvl 55 so i can work on them oh and btw i wanna confirm wat kind of patches can i do i like to change my chars sprites oh a quick question people keep saying relms broken and can mess up the game what do they mean and i heard there is a certant summon thing that makes her awesome
@vgbjason Yes the MEvade bug has been removed. This patch fixes the MEvade, Psycho Cyan, Wind God Gau, Sketch, Interceptor, and at least 48 other bugs that I have found in the original Rom.
The third character exists to use Cure specfically on your Genji character and Attack to push the Metron damage past the limit of 49,995 it will hit so as to not cause any loss from the character using Genji Glove/Offering. I have yet to implement this strategy so I am not sure if I will beat his time using it. It's just an idea. But aside from the Metron/Attack use, the strategy is pretty much the same as his.
i almost got owned when it started using soul out, but i just pulled through, also you should probably have made him alternate his absorb attack more, with attacks like goner and fallen one. also, how do i record videos on zsnes? and how do i put them in youtube?
@wbyyo Actually there are some bosses that are immune to Joker doom, some are probably normal enemies. I can't remember which ones though, so this could be poor research on my part. However, there IS a trigger in the game's coding that prevents joker's doom, so I won't be surprised if there are some bosses immune to it.
@SirFuzzi I wouldn't find a problem training that way since it is only a means to gain exp quickly, but unfortunately the bug has been removed from the rom.
It is immune to death. Even if you attempt the Vanish+Death bug, it will not work on this boss due to a bug fix within the patch. It will vanish but the death spell will miss regardless.
@madskilliz it is a glitch in the game involving cyan that turns him into a blood thirsty killer. If done well, he will do a counter attack with his swordtech an infinite number of times, and will only stop once all monsters on the battle field are destroyed. Hence why this is called psycho cyan.
@OnionKnight13 You wanted a challenge and I delivered lol. That's great to hear you will be competing in the One Million HP Challenge. Good luck, and hopefully I will be watching a vid of you soon. :)
@mikuelify Unfortunately there isn't. The Emperor's Mdef is 243, its so high that the only damaging spells useful enough to be cast are Flare, Meteor, and Ultima which usually have long animation sequences. However, I'm still working with its script to some how prevent Osmose, and Rasp abuse. In this way it's Mdef can be reduced so challengers can use magic tactics.
I personaly like you line up im sure you had a damn good reason for using them Hell my main line up is mostly the same only with sabin in lockes place thats just cause i get more use out of blitz
@LordEnvoy I guess since there are rules and limitations for this specific challenge you have to get creative and use characters like Cyan. Hope I get some time in the near future to be able to try this challenge
@@CJHElectro my thoughts also! Worth bringing Strago for just that. There should have been a much bigger front end of buff and debuffs before laying into damage.
It's elemental resistance is normal, but it has a high magic defense. It should be vulnerable to "Slow", everything else it resists. It mainly abuses the "Stop" ailment, but it can break your team with all status ailments.
@Batmaaaan23 I must have had at least 20 people rip on my lineup already. I want you to be aware that this video is mostly to showcase the challenge. If you was to take on the challenge, what lineup would you consider? Any reasons why you would choose for your selection?
Does it come with ultra high def to prevent max damage or something? It's really possible to get 9999 damage on 8 hits with offering and genji glove so that would otherwise easily shave off around 80k life on a character using that per turn.
did i miss something or would a super simple tactic to be haste shoes, adsorb fire and ice and use quick combined with merton with all 4 party members? full heals every round, absorb half of his attacks. it's almost impossible to lose
Yea, ff13 is a great game, but it's the classics that keep us picking up the controller the most. Oh what I would give to see FF6 remade and rendered on the PS3. To be able to hear each characters voice for the first time. It would be breath taking.
@regresseur If there is no IPS folder, you have to make one. The 1.0 rom is not meant to be used with my patches. Most of the time glitches are created using 1.0. 1.0 is the Original Game with no bug fixes. So I usually encourage people to use the 1.1 rom. The 1.01 update is regarding bug fixes and AI buffs to the Emperor.
do they have a gba ff6 advance rom that's been modified to have this boss? if so I'll gladly take the challenge as the gba version has text that's translated better. I don't like trying to figure out what spells do what with these older versions of the game.
No I haven't really tried that approach. It's actually my fault that the Atma weapon isn't dealing 9999. I made a small patch to this game that fixes the "Offering" and "Genji Glove" bug. You can actually visibly see the patch work. They are suppose to reduce the attack damage by 25%.
No, I stated that I've given you a "Hard Patched" version. Meaning, the monster is coded into the game's programing. EmperorDrg is purposely designed to be that difficult.
Well go on ahead, the Emperor has 12 different attack combinations it undergoes, each proceedingly more difficult then the last. If you can kill the beast, then there are more challenges awaiting you if you read the description. :)
Hey! I'm a huge fan of FF6 and really want to fight this boss. I patch my rom with the emperor dragon file but he won't show up at Narshe. I'm using the 1.1 version of the rom and have patched it many times. I've re-downloaded it and applied the patch but it will not work. Can you help me?
The modified strat I posted to you is designed to push him through 3 rounds a turn instead of Guntank's two. The thing is, I'm not sure the time required for 5 Metrons and one attack wins out against his strategy of just using one as a dedicated tank and healer and Genji Glove and Offering one another.
I watched the 3 part solo vids right after this one. That dragon has a lot of moves. Actually he's got so many moves that I didn't know you could put that many attacks on a monster in FF6. Definitely a cool monster hack.
Just wanna say, to counter the HP effect of atma weapon, pairing it with Valiant knife is surprisingly effective. Since you actually deal more total damage as your hp lowers, but it only really shows the greatest effect when the weilders Max hp is 9999.
Kefka's mountain? No, no... the dragon is located in the snow fields of the town "Narshe". I think I should also upload a "Readme" document inside my links. It seems some still have trouble finding some bosses.
You can use the 1.1 rom provided here, then use your srm save file, as long as your not battling the ED with Items and weapons that are not naturally attainable through normal means. Ex1: You cannot use 4 "Paladin Shields" since your only allowed 1 throughout the normal game. Ex2: You can use 4 "Flame Shields" since these items are obtained through monster battles or through the coliseum. Ex3: You can use multiple "Atma Weapons" since the ED itself drops it as an obtainable item.
why arnt u using ultima right back on him? and the atma weapon (sword) is not the best choice as it is only as strong as ur hit points. also, is this the orginal ff3 version because i dont remember the dragon boots to let u jump 3 times? another question: why didnt u morph terra?
@MugenHeadNinja Well basically you can use custom sprites sprites cause it doesn't effect the core of the battle. Everything else is off limits but for further information read the description. About Relm, she screws the game with the sketch command which is bugged. It can erase save files, screw the graphics, and just totally corrupt the game. No worries thou, because my version 1.1 is bug free. I don't know what you mean about "the summon thing" so I can't really tell you.
@crawd127 I used Cyan because I like him, and because it provides an exra 4 stroke attack. As for your save file, I do provide a save file in the 1.1 rom leaving you in the WOR. Although it isn't the one you use, you can still work with it and tweak the characters how you like.
@ToasterTheGuy14 Yes, both the roms 1.0, 1.1, and the emulators are on my channel up for download. Rom 1.0 is the Original game untouched, rom 1.1 is the patched version repairing 41 bugs and is designed to be used with all my patches. Enjoy! :P
@MugenHeadNinja The patch should be the same name as the rom in order for it to work. There is no way to transfer the save file you have in your Advance rom to the SNES rom. So, you will have to start a new game or use the save file already provided.
Damn...no new beast to kill? I was hoping for a new beast on thanksgiving weekend....*sniff* BTW I got around the FF6 forum from zeemis and I finally learned how to put custom sprites into the game. I may start looking into creating beasts myself so I wonder if I could use your help in case I get stuck with the battle script?
@peonpiate EmporerDrg was designed to encourage players to use such tactics. Even using the Genji/Offering combo, one million HP still takes a while to diminish. Besides, Atma Weapon ignores defense values so a defense buff to the Emperor will be moot. However, rest is assured since it's difficult to cheese this monster. It becomes risky above the 700,000 damage mark. At that point, the player is forced to change tactics.
Take a shot every time Locke dies
I remember my first play through of FF6. Every side quest was completed and Kefka defeated. The only thing left for me to do was to cap out my characters at lv.99. Bosses became nothing more than random encounters with them. It was then that the wheels where set in motion for Emperor to be born.
This has got to be the most insane FF6 battle I've ever seen. Even Kaiser wouldn't be able to top this guy. Awesome work!
9:24 So all your guys are down except for Edgar... Gotta do DRILL INSTEAD OF LIFE2 !!!!!
It has 65,500 MP and a tremendous resistance to magic damage. Be aware that if somehow you managed to drop its MP to 0, it will then either steal yours or restore it's MP to full.
How you can run down 65,500 MP without using moves that attacks MP instead of HP ^^
It's when he's down to 800,000HP, he uses Freezing Dust / Blaster combo which can wreck an unprepared party. He uses Ultima as a random interval during battle.
i lovethis battle music..
Lord Yash x2
Yeah.
yep, it's the theme of the boss at the end of the floating continent. epic and sad moment!
That's sweet, I'll wait for your video response. By the way, I would like you to rate my dragon from 1-5 stars. I always thought Quadra Slice was a waste of time, but I guess if you build a strat that involves your other 3 characters using long-winded attacks it can give you the time you need to build up the charge.
takigan true, that's why if I have cyan I pair him with Umbro or Gau.
Umbro shorts! I remember those too! Ahh, the good old days
Just realized gogo would help mimic it too lol I hope the pixel remaster allows others to go when charging. Edit: it does (no atb bar and you choose from menu, waiting up to 10 seconds which animations exploit) though the game is so bad with glitches and censorship.
In my experience, Gau has a setup to where he has maximum evade, so in emergency situations, he really helped pull through in encounters such as this.
In the pixel remaster you select the moves then Cyan begins to wait its pretty cool because your party can act meantime
This was the first game I ever completed... and seeing the hacks being done I'm pretty happy about it. I know I could complete this challenge, is the game a hack itself or just this boss? This game was the high point of the final fantasy series. Everything after has never even approached it in terms of quality.
Final Fantasy 9 kicked its ass.
I always thought that if there was one that deserves to stand next to 6, it would be 9. I actually just finished 6 this afternoon on my snes, and yea best one that I've played so far, haven't played 8, 9 or 12 yet.
+Retro Soul So if the two DID go together, could we call the pair 69!?
this game was and is better than ff4. but I never liked it as much. ff4 is the eternal king of RPGs for me. but who cares. also ff5 is just filler.
You mean ripped its ass off right?
After soft patching your rom, you can find the dragon in Narshe before the frozen esper. Walk around the snowy fields for the encounter.
What the hell !? 9:05 ULTIMA
Is that a Dragon from Bahamut's Lagoon....
Oh..boy... Super Famicom, golden age of RPGs...
Amen to that
indeed! I'm glad i held on to my snes and collection of squareSOFT games!
2024 y viendo el video para entretenerme ejejeje nice super
I WAS FROZEN TODAY!
You'd best be frozen!
Suburban Commando. Awesome. 😅
"Wind God Gau" is a bug that can be exploited with Gau. It's much like the famous Psycho Cyan bug. This is an awesome idea and well executed at that. Keep it up! I love the damage box =p
@LordEnvoy Oh that's good to know. The quality is pretty good. I'm going to download it. So any leveling spots you know of?
@shebakoby Some of them didn't have ribbon, because the relics used help them do more damage then Ultima. Yes Ultima is a guaranteed 9,999, however, Dragoon Boots / Dragoon Horns combination can strike up to 4 times and be guaranteed to do 19,998 to 39,996 a turn. But Offering / Genji Glove combination strikes up to 8 times and can do up to 47,890 to 67,360 per turn.
@LordEnvoy
I ask this because it's a popular training method to go after the Intangir for quip ABP. Is that gone in this patch (which, I assume, spans the whole game)?

It's called the "Atma Weapon" in the FF6Snes release and the "Ultima Weapon" in the FF6 Advanced release.
what is?
I'm most impressed that you put annotations all the way through!
Yes I made sure to cover every possibility when it comes to instant kills on a boss. It's immune to Psycho Cyan, Vanish/Doom, and Joker Doom. Virtually any instant death skill is moot against this boss.
Okay . Can you easy do it 9999 damage so easy ?
Sure, you can also post the video if you like. I would like to watch the battle. It can help with future boss Ideas.
Correct, buffing up your party is your best way to stay toe to toe with Emperor Dragon. Match it's speed with haste, defend yourself from its attacks with Safe, Shell and Float, and Slow it down to give yourself an advantage.

That is one tough enemy. I rememebr this game so well... It's been years since I played it. Good show :o)
You have proven yourself quite capable of slaying this beast angelo. However... soloing, is too unlikely but your always welcome to try. :)
@LordEnvoy It was tough, one question: i used slow on emperor dragon and im not even sure if it worked or not, is he immune to slow? personally i don't think the hack of Kaiser Dragon you made was really that tough, i beat him on my first try, Ultima did under 1000 damage (to be fair i was using big guard, but you know still)

are there two atma weapons on the game??
i think you should've equiped genji offering and 2 valiant knives on locke since he always have lower hp.. more damage then...
and/or have him at lower hp and have some higher def had true knight to protect him from direct damages...
he he, the cursor sound sounds like ff9 !! im so gonna play 6 after I finish after years and interlude to IV!
thanks for putting the damage there on the annotations.
+TheUKNutter Sure, it was a pain in the ass to calculate it and update it so many times. ^^d
Lord Envoy Think you can beat it this time?
I haven't tried since the post. I may try again in a later video.
Lord Envoy Next time use Phoenix when Ultima is about to strike! That was your downfall
Thank you. I did my best to make it stand out differently then the other clones in the game :P
I liked the save states of zeemis in which 99 of all items are.
Is something like that allowed?
And is genji glove offering allowed?
You must use the 1.1 rom for the patch to work properly. After soft patching, you can find the EmperorDrg in "Narshe" around the snowy fields where you once defended the frozen esper from Kefka.
Well, mission accomplished! Question: does your patch 1.02 also contain the monsters copies of the Dragon's Den from patch 1.01?
So, from what I get from the document, it just copies Omega Weapon from FFVIA.
If so, how east would it be to put Omega in FFVISNES?
(That is, swiching the second UW's battle script with Omega's battle script)
That's one ATTACK. Not one TURN. The setup I mentioned earlier is 64 attacks for 9999.
sometime ago i have seen patches on bosses when they scan they have over millions of hp. is there a patch or something around that lets you give bosses tons of hp over the 65535 cap?

@wbyyo Actually there are some bosses that are immune to Joker doom, some are probably normal enemies. I can't remember which ones though, so this could be poor research on my part. Quick question. Does this thing have any elemental weaknesses, strengths, and what, if any, status ailment works on it?
Few questions:
A) Best way to record this and get sound?
B) Are any methods of training (IE: training via vanish/doom) disabled?
I personaly like you line up im sure you had a damn good reason for using them Hell my main line up is mostly the same only with sabin in lockes place thats just cause i get more use out of blitz
Hahahahahahaha! I was laughing like hell when you got made into a spinning doomed imp lol. Laughing with the doom skulls lol.
@LordEnvoy I guess since there are rules and limitations for this specific challenge you have to get creative and use characters like Cyan. Hope I get some time in the near future to be able to try this challenge
Tbh I don't know why you didn't have Life3 on Terra, or a ribbon on at least 3 people
also big guard is the best ability in any ff game
Simco Doublavix Luckily I have it and it is good defensively
TBH i dont know why youre alive.
Genji glove and ribbon Altman and maybe Excalibur
@@CJHElectro my thoughts also! Worth bringing Strago for just that. There should have been a much bigger front end of buff and debuffs before laying into damage.
Thank you, I hope that this patch has solved the challenge problem that the FF6 SNES game never included.
They are suppose to reduce the attack damage by 25%.
loooooool! Disaster? wtf! lol Thats brutal. Thanks for uploading
save state given with the patch? Or do we have to play the game? I am already playing a version of FFVI already.
@reloadingdontshoot1 It is 8 hits in row. It attacks up to 8 times with its claws.
Very cool, are you playing a PC rom of this game and editing through it?
I watched the 3 part solo vids right after this one. That dragon has a lot of moves. Actually he's got so many moves that I didn't know you could put that many attacks on a monster in FF6. Definitely a cool monster hack.
Just wanna say, to counter the HP effect of atma weapon, pairing it with Valiant knife is surprisingly effective. Since you actually deal more total damage as your hp lowers, but it only really shows the greatest effect when the weilders Max hp is 9999.
@LordEnvoy
Blaster is an instant kill right, it can be avoided by a ribbon.
Question: Is this superboss compatible with *ehem* moded versions of the game? (Re-Skins mainly)
why arnt u using ultima right back on him? and the atma weapon (sword) is not the best choice as it is only as strong as ur hit points. also, is this the orginal ff3 version because i dont remember the dragon boots to let u jump 3 times? another question: why didnt u morph terra?
I was hoping for a new beast on thanksgiving weekend....*sniff*
BTW I got around the FF6 forum from zeemis and I finally learned how to put custom sprites into the game.
I have 2 questions.
Is there an rom you can download with strong characters and good equipment?
You should post 2 sections for Solo Winners.
I'm pretty sure neither me nor Angelo used Quick for it. :P
Yea, that would be some work. The rom comes with a save file in the WOR don't know if that helps.
