Dear Stranger Things styling department: what’s with Will’s haircut? Why, after four seasons, does he still have a bowl cut??? C’mon he could totally pull off a different hair style!
I think it's perhaps to portray his dislike for growing up. Last season, all of his friends were getting into relationships and such, doing more adult things, and he detested it probably from being stuck in the upside down for a while(it could have been even longer for him mentally than what he actually physically spent there). He feels as if he wants his childhood back because he missed out on such crucial parts of it from being a pawn for the mindflayer, and actually not being present with his family. He, besides Eleven, has the most trauma out of the group, hands down. The others want to move on because they haven't experienced the magnitude of trauma like Will did. The others used their stress to grow up. Will is processing his trauma in the form of trying to ignore it and go back to the good old days of his childhood that has been and is still currently being robbed of him.
