  • The Moriones Festival is a fasting and religious festival held every year during Holy Week on the island of Marinduque in the Philippines. "Morions" are men and women in costumes and masks that imitate the clothing of biblical imperial Roman soldiers as interpreted by locals. The Moriones tradition also inspired the creation of other festivals in the Philippines where cultural practices are transformed into street festivals.
