I struggled a lot last year with what I guess you would call the "yips" with my irons. I'd get to the top of the backswing and be frozen with anxiety. I couldn't make a decent swing even though I was striking my irons wonderfully in practice. It got a bit better as the year went on but is still with me to this day. I've come to the conclusion that you have to play golf for the pleasure of being outdoors and making nice golf shots when you can. If each round is a test of your skills and affects your sense of self worth then the game is no fun at all. My goal for next year is to enjoy every swing and every day on the course and let the score take care of itself. I will never play my best if I worry about the outcome of every shot.

Great session Guys - one for the Q&A edition - interested to hear Mal’s thoughts on how to keep a good round going - so annoying when you’ve had a good front nine - 20 points and then fritter away a few to end up at 34 - 35 points - close but no cigar - I experience this too often and think I get too defensive - tips appreciated

Thanks Dan and Mal for some very meaningful content. Any suggestions for how to recognise that your level of concentration is lapsing during a round and how to increase it again before it impacts your game?
