The current temple is NOT filled to capacity, far from it. The number of members on record rolls are not reflective of participating members. Conservatively cut by a third. Of the 2/3rds remaining half of that are meeting the high behavioral standards REQUIRED to be allowed entrance and use of a temple. The numbers do not reflect a need.
Why are people always whining about the wrong thing? First of all, they are building like crazy in Las Vegas and you citizens of Las Vegas should be worried about all the casinos, the sports, Arenas, and a big old ball that you built in the sky that is taking all your electricity and all of your water, but you worry about the building because it's going to block your view of the mountain. THAT'S WHATS UP
There will never be 1000 cars a day. Twice a year for Stake Conference maybe 400 cars. Will there also be a new stake center? Since when is it polite to tell others where they can worship? BTW, please drive over to the Las Vegas Temple and ask several (not LDS residents) home-owners exactly how is life near the existing temple. Just a very minor side note: you may never find a more beautiful green space than an LDS temple. Breathtaking in its' landscaping!
Wait until they find out how much the value of their property will increase once the temple is built... I bet they won't be squawking about views and shadows then.

Prayers for the blessings to spread throughout the valley🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I thank my Heavenly Father my dear Lord for the opportunity to worship in Thy Holy Temple❤
If the church just played by the same rules as everyone else, the residents wouldn't have a problem. But, when they have to pay city council people campaign contributions of $70,000 to get a bill through to change the zoning to fit their needs, then we have a problem.

@ED-gl5jp stake conferences that take place twice a year. But realistically this isn't the first temple in the Las Vegas area if you want to argue that traffic will be an issue you'd have to prove the current Las Vegas temple
Rich white people problems. One group of upper class wealthy people vs against upper class wealthy religious people. Must be so painfu l. Have that kind of money.. if there was a BET put my money on religious people winning..

Would you like a 216 foot tall building in your backyard? We bought in the area because of the rural zoning and location to raise livestock and ride horses. We didn't buy downtown.
If they want a building that size, just purchase property in an area that allows structures that size adn allows illumunation all night. They have the money. They need to respect the citizens who live there and respect the ordinances that were enacted decades ago. The building may be special to the congregants, we all can respect that, but to others it's an eyesore. Those opposing this better ask if any of the voting council members are practicing mormons, or hold positions in government that influence decisions.

No one is opposed to a religious building being built. I'm not. But it must to be built respecting the local restrictions, respecting the elders who set rules so that everyone can share the unobstructed view of Lone Mountain. This is the fault of the LDS leadership buying a property with restrictions then erroneously thinking they should be given an exception because they are an organized religion. That is wrong and abuse of religioious exceptions. The leadership was wrong, they wronged others. They need to apologize, make amends for distressing the property owners in the areas who have respected the local codes and their neighbours by following the rules, then the LDS church needs to honor and honor and respect the laws of that area. Just built the temple to a maximum of 35'-0" and not illuminate it at night. It is that simple. It can be built with those restrictions, be beautiful and inspiring for all LDS members.

The can eat the traffic, we're all skrewed with that however it's unfair to allow them to build higher than what the neighbors are restricted to.

There will also be a new stake center. So, we get stake center traffic AND temple traffic in a rural neighborhood.

The church didn't pay $70,000 in camping contributions, you are lying.
0:48 he's saying an extra thousand cars a day. That's an exaggeration to the point I'd have to call him a liar.
You’ve clearly never met mormons before
