    Phillips technical weakness from a MC perspective is "Very very slow feet" NOT RUNNING SPEED. He struggles to control and manipulate the ball quickly in tight space and NOT lose It which is critical playing as DM for MC . Edison will play the ball to him when he is marked and under pressure and he is expected to be comfortable and reliable to receive the ball and NOT LOSE IT. When tackling the "slow feet" makes it difficult to shift position quickly.

      @ricardohotbrakes1458 8 місяців тому +1

      Phillips "looks good" for England as England plays with 2 DM Calvin and Rice . in MC is Single DM . Gundo , Bernardo Stones are able to play in the DM role because the have quick feet and quality first touch and don't lose the ball in these tight spaces. .. We wish him well at West Ham which plays different .. On another note Paqueta would be a better fit at MC than at West Ham

    I didn’t get the signing at the time, had never seen anything to make me think he was the level and Nunes falls into a similar bracket for me if I’m honest but that being said Phillips seems a nice lad and wish him well at WHU

    At west ham he will probably sit next to Alvarez with JWP in front and Paqueta joining in.
    I really rated him at Leeds.
    I hope he's good for us 🙏

      I think he will be a 100 % slot in replacement for Declan rice as west ham does not play the technical tight passing through the holding midfielders the job is defensively more important and he will have help. Wish him all the best .. 🇯🇲🇯🇲

    If you look at it from a football fans perspective, Phillips has it made. Trains and travels with the best team in the world yet never has to worry about the match day jitters, also gets paid to be a passenger at the elite most level of the game .

    City have now brought in 3 midfielders who can barely get any game time. Quite remarkable actually that Nunes, Kovacic and Philips are all to varying degrees out in the cold.
    With such a small roster it is a bit worrying.

    He is just not good enough, maybe required the step above Leeds, but he was never going make it at City, maybe should have gone to WH, Newcastle, Spurs instead of City and learn more and then make that step to Elite within a few years.

    Lads, he was never that good. Kalvin is 28. To this date, 70% of the total league games he has played were in the Championship. He had one decent season in the premier league in which Leeds probably overachieved. If England had decent depth at DM, he probably never get's selected. So yes the standards of international football are lower because the pool is smaller. And that DM position has been problematic. Even now it's Rice and who else?
    He got exposed at City and would have been at any top team. He is a decent player, no more, no less.

    • @ShawnGitahi
      @ShawnGitahi 8 місяців тому

      When did he get exposed though.he never got a chance,if partey goes to city,he eats the bench coz rodri never gets injured,pep trusts and rates him and he plays with two free 8,s and an inverting defender

    • @JR-sj1jz
      @JR-sj1jz 8 місяців тому

      @ShawnGitahi since joining City, Kalvin Phillips has been in the match day squad 62 times when you look at PL and UCL. He started only about 3 of those games. I'm sorry but with all due respect, a fit and healthy Partey starts way more than that.
      And you can talk about Rodri but when he has missed games due to suspension has Pep looked to Kalvin? No he hasn't. A combination of Rico Lewis and Stones have started some of those games. In fact I'm almost certain Rico Lewis has started more games in midfield since Kalvin joined. And the lad's a 19 year old full back. Like I said, Kalvin's limitations have been exposed at City. He is a mid to lower table player.

  • @ShawnGitahi
    @ShawnGitahi 8 місяців тому

    It's not complex,he made the wrong career choice,how does a player whose main attribute is his long passing and through balls from deep go to city,that was a move doomed from the start.he ain't that press resistant and has slow feet hence he can be caught out in the first phase with how city play.his aerial ability is good but not that good,he can get bullied and city play with a single pivot,he moves the ball on too quickly and when you add that to the fact he came with an injury then wasn't completely fit and he had rodri above him and city play with a single pivot and two free 8,s 🥲he just didn't suit city,s system.he should have gone to united or Liverpool which are more direct where his long passing and creation from deep would have actually been helpful and with the lack of mobile cdm,s there,he would have easily established himself.at least he,ll be in the euros😂

      He lacks the technical ability to act as a six or an 8 for City. He can’t pass around the press or dribble through it like Stones, Rodri or Gundogan can. He’s a DM who receives the ball without too much pressure and can ping it to a winger.

    Man City bought a very good player so other teams couldn't have him. It was clear Leeds were a yoyo club and they took their best player....and they were relegated the season after. Also, a fixture in the England team alongside Rice. But City bought him in their quest to have stupidly expensive players on the bench and due to Rodri playing, Phillips didn't. Phillips made the wrong choice.
