@@ducnguyen-qv7sw HVL had her birthday 2 months ago and is just now 23, The W regularly has rookies over 24 - due to the limited rosters and short contracts potential is valued less than existing skill set, so it will help. Mark Campbell is one of my favorite young coaches in collegiate basketball. He was an assistant coach at Oregon w/Kelly Graves before taking the head coaching position at Sacramento State. TCU made a great move in hiring Campbell because he's a great recruiter. He helped bring Prince, Ionescu, Sabally, and Hebard to Oregon. He's building an elite program at TCU but I don't think he'll be there for long. He'll be at a bigger, more prominent school in two to three years...if not sooner!
ND just dropped to Utah (and Jenna Johnson - aka Paige Buecker's HS Rival), now it should be acknowledged that ND has 3 front court players injured at least one of which is a starter.
Only two of those players will likely return this season. Kylee Watson tore her acl during the tournament last year, so I doubt she plays this year (like miles last year). ND will only have a max of 10 players this year since kk Bransford is also out for the season, so they need to learn to play with the talent they do have bc unfortunately injuries may happen. Look at UConn last year lol 5 season ending injuries, 7 available players for the season, and found a way to make it to the final 4 and were 1 play away from the championship. Notre dame needs to find a way to do the same, and I’m sure they’ll look better in a few months
Here’s my take on HVL and I’ve been following her since her UofL freshman year. She wants to be a pass first point guard so bad that she holds her game back too much. That’s the reason she left Louisville for LSU. That’s the reason she failed at LSU. And that’s the reason they were losing the first three quarters of this game. She’s a shooting guard imo. I hope she finds herself like she did at the end of this game.
she didnt even play the first half. hidalgo put 2 quick fouls on her within the first 2 mins of the game (she's so slow on defense). she sat the rest of the half. thats why she only had 2 pts before halftime. she wasnt passing first to anyone from the bench!!

HVL is a special player for sure. Olympians medalist at 22 is special... But for Chicago I would love to see HVL Reese Miles and Sedona and Carter in the same skuad even if it means loosing Cardoso.
I know this might sound anti-Angel Reese but the Way the LSU roster was it did not help develop PGs. I have mentioned this before LSU and KMs teams at Baylor were not known for developing the one position. They tended to have good defensive 2 guards and good forwards. And your assist numbers are going to be low when Reese misses most first shots (Hey Reese has a great motor and often eventually gets the bucket, but when you miss the first shot there is no Assist credited.) Also the motion was all high with few cuts to the backdoor and Morrow and Reese together did not help spacing. This offense at TCU with Prince who can hit the midrange and has legit post moves, shooting a high accuracy will mean more assists. Also with knockdown shooters like Conner and Bigby that both shoot over 40% from deep helps space the floor. And because they hit those shots teams must respect that shot helping keep Prince single covered either at the nail or on the block. Summation this is a more balanced roster - it might not be as overall talented as the group at LSU but the balance will do more for HVL in developing her PG skills.
Listen Mulkey caught lightning in bottle with a bunch of renages her championship year. No way in the world LSU was going to run that back a second time. To many moving parts on and off the court.

But I believe Kate Koval has a very bright future. To me, Prince should be drafted higher than HVL
TCU really stepped it up in the 4th quarter. Prince, Conner, and HVL all did their thing. Players like Taylor Bigby and Agnes Emma-Nnopu hit some huge shots down the stretch, especially Bigby. HVL continues to keep her assists up and turnovers down. South Carolina very soon though. So it doesn't stop.
Some folks here are saying HVL and Sedona won't get drafted bcoz they're 25yrs old. Guys, if they don't get drafted, those big and smart teams will poach them. Remember that there are players whom teams get at 30yrs old after playing a lot in the Euroleague, like Julie Vanloo - a 30 yr old freshman last season.

Mrs. Quita why doesn't Dawn Staley use Sakima Walker? She had to fill in last year for Cadosa when she went to play for the Olympics & did well. I believe she's a senior dam at least give her 5 minutes a game so she can gain confidence. She's a good rebounder & has a good close shot why not use her? Especially when they have blow outs do you know if she's on some punishment or injury? Love your podcast Thank You
They have 8 available players, and they will only have a maximum of 10 for the season, since the remaining two of their 12 will be out for the whole year. It’s unfortunate, but they have enough talent that they need to figure it out. UConn went to the final four last year with 7 total players and 5 players out with season ending injuries.
Folks really get things twisted. The previous games, HVL played like utter you know what. She just got HOT in her last TWO games shooting. And guess what folks, they count all the points from all the Quarters, not just the first 3. LOL. They all count the same. LOL.
She couldn't adapt to the LSU style and it is shame. angel do not play pickandroll, sounds crazy but true, but lots of bullyball like morrow. Flaujae is transition and fast break. So HVL had no help and LSU needed more spotup knowndown shooter. HVL lives her best life now, because, girls do screens for her, plus Sedona is always available, which create space to drive, shooters are setup to catch and shooot. Two different world
Your takes are terrible. Ivey is nowhere near a bad coach and Notre Dame doesn't make it as far last year with all the injuries if she was a bad coach.
Nothing impossible about beating ND. They only have 7 players active. TCU simply got their big into foul trouble and they obviously have no one to replace her. They wore them down as they should have. I will never root for TCU but I'm not shocked they were able to pull this off. Nice little wake up call for ND after beating USC.
The impossible is like coming back from 20 points down with less then 5 minutes to go. Notre Dame was only up 8 to start the 4th period. TCU continually pecked away then built a late led. This is hardly pulling off the impossible. Not even remotely so. HVL has been on a heater starting with her last game. Prince basically all SEASON. If both King and Koval aren't Ice Cold, this story likely turns out different.
Notre Dame up 11 going into 4th. They were up 14 in the third. HVL took over scoring 16 points in 12 minutes and Conner and Prince dominated too ! Agnes was huge ! Great Team Win for TCU !
Emma-Nnopu really took Hunter's mintues. And as much as l love Hunter it was a spot on adjustment. She required more attention and that stretched things out just enough.
Quita now allll those ppl who thought HVL was a bust just cuz she went through a slump are looking like clowns 🤡 now!! That girl been living in CC n Paige shadow as a shooter for several years now...And she's bout to get her just due.
not sure, TCU got 2 star player and one shooter against ten all americans... So it is not much of a fight. But only Paopao is on the level of Sedona... Last week SC has no answers for a dominant Big, so still a little fight... HVL has a special ability when she focuses like a machine she plays like a wnba starter that college kid can't deal with
Notre Dame just lost to unranked Utah making that win against USC look more like a fluke. HVL, Madison Conner, and Sedona Prince are a solid “big 3” for TCU. Their upcoming game against SCe will say a lot about where they are as a team.
9-22 is 40% shooting from the field. Thats not poor efficiency. Its okay efficiency, not great efficiency but its not terrible. Especially when some of those misses sent her to the line.
Hanna is a great player. Kita knows that and she did a great game for herself. But too much Iso ball, which Superwomen action from Hanna and Olivia, not team effort on offense withdrawal and defense.
Misses that send you to the line don’t count towards your field goal attempts on your stat sheet. So those 13 misses were actual misses. And the problem is that she shot just 20% in the second half and couldn’t really hit anything when it mattered. Her points were mainly from the line, and some of her missed layups looked more like she was trying to draw a foul then make the actual shot
I gave all the credit in the world to coach Ivy win over USC Trojans, but the intoxication carried over to the TCU game. Coach Ivy lost this one. The axiom no matter how good you think you are, still gotta play the game.
ND will drop in the polls. No excuses for why they loss. They were out played period!! Quita you didn’t make excuses for SC!!! In fact it seems as if you were happy that SC finally lost. Remember ur words “Anybody can get Got. “
Yeah but what she did was vert smart, she stop shooting and keep penetrating the paint like a pro. She is a riddim shooter, when she is out of sync her shoot is useless and it was a massive problem for us, LSU last year
Nah tcu is a more complete team than notre dame. It's just that their guards are better maybe a little bit better at defending the perimeter too. But if their guards play a little bit weaker this team collapse the utah game just proves that.
the game was in the caymen islands the day after thanksgiving!! you think people are just flocking to international destinations to watch basketball during their family holiday? and fyi, caitlin only brought in 3000 people to her game at this same time last year--and that was in FLORIDA!!
Why impossible Quita? Notre Dame has a great backcourt with Miles and Hidalgo, but they have a woefully thin bench. What did they play, six or seven players total for the game? The other top teams in the country almost all have better bigs than N.D. right now. Sedona Prince took them to the cleaners and N.D. had no answer for her.
You can’t go by one game or who played who. Utah just beat ND and Northwestern beat Utah earlier. Does that mean that Northwestern should be a top 10 team? Most teams had a lot of turnover (USC is a good example) and they aren’t in mid season form. But TCU is definitely underrated.
ND IS MISSING MADDY WESTBELD, AND IT SHOWS DEARLY, HILDAIGO, SHOULD HAVE HAD THE ASSIGNMENT OF GUARDING HVL MORE IN THE SECOND HALF CREDIT TCU COACHING, THEY ARE GOOD, HVL JUST STILL NEEDS TO DRIVE MORE, SHE IS NOT A GREAT SHOOTER..
Yooo! Hailey and TCU will have the season everyone thinks USC and JuJu will have. I had more fun watching an underdog come back and win than the previous win of the Irish against USC. You can’t manufacture what the people like 😂 Go TCU 🫡
@oherewego3461 HVL has better handles, is a more versatile scorer and has played in the past with Cameron Brink in the 3vs3 national team and in the Under 19 national team. So yeah, I would take her over Miles
@QuitaLovesSports Well, that's what I would do from what I have seen so far watching both of them play this season. I like HVL more, especially for the Sparks, considering Hamby is quite inconsistent offensively, Brink's best asset is her rim protection and Rickea still needs to develop her offense. But that's just me of course
Miles is light years more talented. HVL been doing outstanding but if the sparks don’t take Miles it’s a disservice to basketball. Miles, Brink, Jackson as a young core would be exceptional.
UCONN Women won!!! Where as the men did not. Quita you needed to be clear on that. With all the Paige haters out there you need to be clear. I watched the UCONN Women on Flo Sports and Paige and Azzi cooked.

But if their guards play a little bit weaker this team collapse the utah game just proves that.
back to the old NCAA (post CC)...,. what are there 50 people in the entire place?
the game was in the caymen islands the day after thanksgiving!! you think people are just flocking to international destinations to watch basketball during their family holiday? and fyi, caitlin only brought in 3000 people to her game at this same time last year--and that was in FLORIDA!!
They're in the Cayman Islands. Don't expect a sold out crowd during the holidays.
Go look at Caitlin’s game during thanksgiving last week lol. Hers was in Florida even, and most of the stadium was still empty
How about HVL just worked on her game. Lets stop comparing her to last year
Respect to Haley but not to Prince
Why
@BaudreyFKy She has a serious DV past
TCL > USC confirmed
You can’t go by one game or who played who. Utah just beat ND and Northwestern beat Utah earlier. Does that mean that Northwestern should be a top 10 team? Most teams had a lot of turnover (USC is a good example) and they aren’t in mid season form. But TCU is definitely underrated.
ND IS MISSING MADDY WESTBELD, AND IT SHOWS DEARLY, HILDAIGO, SHOULD HAVE HAD THE ASSIGNMENT OF GUARDING HVL MORE IN THE SECOND HALF
CREDIT TCU COACHING, THEY ARE GOOD, HVL JUST STILL NEEDS TO DRIVE MORE, SHE IS NOT A GREAT SHOOTER..
Yooo! Hailey and TCU will have the season everyone thinks USC and JuJu will have. I had more fun watching an underdog come back and win than the previous win of the Irish against USC. You can’t manufacture what the people like 😂 Go TCU 🫡
Prince is better than Fevers Smith especially on defense. Im not joking either if she is there at 8😅 Do it
Smith play for 4 or 5 ? But Sedona is really special, great screens, a shot, some moves... She is a 25 yo cooking kids but I could see it too at n8.
HVL is looking like a top prospect. If I am the Sparks, I would take her over Olivia Miles.
Hell no lol 😂
Ok don’t get too excited, yea she is playing well but no way she is picked higher than Olivia
Sorry I thought i said the men for UConn…
