  • Here is the initial fabric covering of the fuselage using the Stewart Systems SuperFlight. This is the blanket method of covering using individual cut sheets beginning on the bottom, sides, vertical stabilizer and then the top. What you see here is shrunk at 250 degrees. I will do a final shrink at 350 degrees.
This video series covers my progress building the Bearhawk 4 Place. This aircraft will be powered by the Lycoming Thunderbolt IO-540. www.lycoming.com/engines/thun...

What are the green lines? Is that where the glue lines are? I'm unfamiliar with fabric covering. Thanks. Your bearhawk build is great to keep up with.

Yes, those are the glue joints. You can see more about this process here: ua-cam.com/video/48OeYmvYHDM/v-deo.html

I’m researching covering systems right now. Oratex, PolyFiber, Stewart Systems, AeroTech, etc. Many to choose from. What was the deciding factor that made you go with Stewart Systems? Thanks.

@@texak1974 Two things... 1). I am building in my garage which is attached to my home. I needed something safe and without caustic fumes. The Stewart System is water based and I can use it without solvents, gloves and respirators. 2) . Their UA-cam training videos are the best! I learned everything I needed from their videos, including how to use their paint system. BTW... I am more than pleased with the outcome of my paint job.

I would agree and also suggest that your paint job is pretty badass. Thanks for the reply.

Hi, how did you do the transition from the top of the fuselage to the vertical stabilizer. I see there is a joint by I no the is no frame to glue it to

Yes, that area is a floating joint and was a challenge. Couldn't have done it without the Stewart Systems videos. ua-cam.com/video/MGpMEuPnM7g/v-deo.html
